Native Cane my brotha that would be a treat in of itself. Oh My!

The only one that benefited from the "Cloud" that hung over the fate of the UM program from Aug 2011 to Oct 2013 was Florida State. Just like they benefited from Miami's fall from grace in the mid-90s.

Is it any coincidence that FSU's true dominance comes during periods of Miami sanctions and the after effects of investigations?

Year Miami Record, FSU Record
1990: Miami: 10-2, FSU: 10-2
1991: Miami: 12-0, FSU: 11-2
1992: Miami: 11-1, FSU: 11-1
1993: Miami: 9-3, FSU: 12-1
1994: Miami: 10-2, FSU: 10-1-1
1995: Miami: 8-3, FSU: 10-2
1996: Miami: 9-3, FSU: 11-1
1997: Miami: 5-6, FSU: 11-1
1998: Miami: 9-3, FSU: 11-2
1999: Miami: 9-4, FSU: 12-0
2000: Miami: 11-1, FSU: 11-2
2001: Miami: 12-0, FSU: 8-4
2002: Miami: 12-1, FSU: 9-5
2003: Miami: 11-2, FSU: 10-3
2004: Miami: 9-3, FSU: 9-3
2005: Miami: 9-3, FSU: 8-5
2006: Miami: 7-6, FSU: 7-6
2007: Miami: 5-7, FSU: 7-6
2008: Miami: 7-6, FSU: 9-4
2009: Miami: 9-4, FSU: 7-6
2010: Miami: 7-6, FSU: 10-4
2011: Miami: 6-6, FSU: 9-4
2012: Miami: 7-5, FSU: 12-2
2013: Miami: 9-4, FSU: 14-0
2014: Miami: 6-3, FSU: 9-0

Miami Pell Grant investigation, sanctions and rebuilding last from 1993 - 2000. FSU plays in national championship games in 93, 96, 98, 99, and 00.
During that time they have a record of 88-10-1.

The Shapiro investigation began in the fall of 2010 and NCAA verdict came last fall. Minor sanctions continue. During that time, FSU goes 44-6 and plays in a national championship game.

So far, I have to say I'm impressed how AQM has handled this. He did his bid like a man, and has used his time to get better.

3 losses were bcuz Kaaya passed the ball too much???? Lol

Louisville - lost due to NOT PASSING enough!

Nebraska - lost due to our inability to stop the run! Also note that Duke fumbled the ball at a critical point in the game.

GA Tech - lost due to our inability to stop the run!

What did Kaaya have to do with these loses? What about the other 3 wins besides the last 3 games?

WWIN

Fsu was winning the recruiting war before Golden got here, sorry.

1. We need balance on offense to succeed, with an ability to gain positive yards on 1st down. That comes in the form of a running game.

2. Ask yourself this, if we come out passing and struggle, then where do we turn.

Posted by: Go Canes | November 11, 2014 at 05:27 PM

1. So let me get this straight... if fsu stacks the box with 8 and plans on making Kaaya beat em with his arm, we should still run the ball first???? News flash, when teams started seeing what PD4 was doing that's what opened up the running game!

2. Ask yourself this, if we come out running and struggle, then where do we turn like the Louisville game????

WWIN

When teams set out to stop your running game you pass on em or play action pass, then when you get em to respect the pass you run on em, now you're getting balanced and unpredictable!

And vice versa!

"The Cloud, really =s..."The Crutch".

Posted by: CaneRock | November 11, 2014 at 06:50 PM

LMAO!!!!

You didn't know that that's the only reason why we haven't won a ACC title? Those other teams are getting more 2* and 3* players than us, we can't compete with yet until the sanctions are over!

WWIN

Elder and Burns are playing more at cornerback, and though Tracy Howard still plays, he has been less prominent. Why? Elder and Burns are faster than Howard and more consistent tacklers.

Oh, I definitely agree. Technically, they won the recruiting war against Miami in most years. So did Florida.

Year and Rivals Ranking
2002: Miami #8, FSU #4, UF #20
2003: Miami #5, FSU #21, UF #2
2004: Miami #6, FSU #4, UF #10
2005: Miami #7, FSU #2, UF #15
2006: Miami #14, FSU #3, UF #2
2007: Miami #19, FSU #21, UF #1
2008: Miami #5, FSU #9, UF #3
2009: Miami #15, FSU #11, UF #7
2010: Miami #16, FSU #10, UF #2
2011: Miami #36, FSU #2, UF #12
2012: Miami #9, FSU #6, UF #3
2013: Miami #20, FSU #10, UF #4
2014: Miami #12, FSU #4, UF #8
2015: Miami #14, FSU #4, UF #71

Miami on paper has not had a better recruiting class than FSU since 2008. And only three times since 2002 have the Canes had a stronger class.

Even more interesting is that the Gators have had a higher recruiting ranking than the Seminoles in most years: 2006-2010, 2012-2013.

But going back to my original point, FSU capitalizes in their record and national championship appearances when Miami has been hampered by investigations or sanctions. In the four years prior to the start of the Shapiro investigation (2007-2010) the Seminoles had an average ranking of 11. In the four years since the average rose to 6.
