We thought we had a team that could win.
We thought we had a coach who was capable and competent.
We thought that "The U" would be back by now beyond any reasonable doubt.
We thought wrong.
For Miami fans the pain and suffering of losing to weak, poorly coached and un-ranked teams consistently over time has become too much to endure.
Miami losing to Virginia at any time, in any year, is completely unacceptable.
That is because UM out recruits UVA on an consistent basis, year after year, after year. The talent difference is there for ALL to see, just like when UM plays Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, North Carolina or NCST.
Miami losing to Virginia at the end of the season in a head coach's fourth year is not only unacceptable, but it is humiliating and embarrassing.
This result simply cannot be accepted or tolerated by Hurricane fans.
Forget 2015, forget recruiting, forget the public relations at this point.
I, no make that we, cried a river over U.
We are done crying.
The only answer is: Golden must go.
If my pillow could talk, imagine what it would have said
Could it be a river of tears I cried in bed?
So you can cry me a river
Daddy, go ahead and cry that river
'Cause I cried, how I cried a river over you
How I cried a river over you

Yes. He lives in Ohio, I think his last name is Cane? Lol
Posted by: WWIN | November 23, 2014 at 10:21 PM
No disrespect to Duke, but He ain't better than OJA. OJA was like having a Randy Moss & Adrian Peterson hybrid in the backfield. If OJA was at UM today, He'd probably have 5K career yards rushing in today's wide open game...IJS.

Soup once again well said and we share your sentiments brotha. Coach Golden your time at Miami should be over. That is all. Go Canes.

I'm assuming golden will be back no matter what happens the 2 games. Anybody have any reason to believe otherwise?

“You know, you come into another environment like this, you’re on the road at night, you’ve got to consistently play at a high level…and we didn’t play consistently well enough tonight, no question about it.”
An "environment like this"???!! He's talking about UVA!!! Disgusting

Soup, good article but sad! 😭😭
I preferred Golden staying over starting all over again with a new staff, unless it was Butch and Co of course, but unfortunately this is the best that Golden has to offer. He had the best team in the MAC and didn't produce, he didn't even get invited to a bowl game with 8 wins in his last season at Temple! We hoped that he learned on the job but I don't think he has, he's just to soft hearted! Just think, this was the best spring and fall camps he's EVER had and then look at the results.
This is me saying this as nice as I can. Sorry, but it's the truth.
Posted by: WWIN | November 23, 2014 at 10:46 PM
I think that Golden will first choke and then drown on his own words. The PR spin is not going to get it anymore. He sounds like Obama or Bush or any other U.S. President defending all of their mistakes in office.
As my good friend NativeCane says:
"Either U is, or is U aint!"

As a loyal fan and supporter, and as an alumni, I did what I could for as long as I could. I called him out before when he lost to Kansas State (nobody remembers) and others but I cannot support him anymore. Even Mrs. 86 said how can we play to beat FSU and then lay down against UVA??? I had no reply.

Canes win 77 to 58, and go to 5-0 for the season. Charlotte is a pretty good team and the Canes dominated that game
Posted by: BigWindyCane1 | November 23, 2014 at 11:04 PM
To play devil's advocate, but if Golden still had His original offensive staff, do ya'll think things would be different?
I'm not gonna lie, those are some good coaches that left cuz the pay STUNK!

CR,
I don't think James Coley is the problem.
Posted by: The Dude | November 23, 2014 at 11:08 PM
I think the blog is a tad early myself. A tad. I say let the games play out. We should beat Pitt at home and we should face some fourth or fifth seed from some other conference. Could be a winnable game. That would be 8-5.
I felt it was unfair before the South Florida game for Randy when coaches were told a change was coming but not Randy. And the fans were ridiculous. When Randy took over, the cupboard was bare as bare could be. Remember that our best pass catcher on the team was Lance Letmedrop it Legget? We were so depleted at QB that Kirby Freeman started against NC State and he was so bad we ran almost every down.
Al didn't have a bare cupboard. He had a loaded one but he ran the guys off. Have you heard even one recent UM grad speak up for Al? One? Current players don't have the option to speak freely but a grad does, and nobody is defending him. I think that says something.
But nonetheless, we have to let all the games play out. I am not a Golden supporter, I am a Miami Hurricanes supporter. I don't like the coaching and haven't for a few years. But I won't root for Pitt or any other team to beat my Canes just to hasten Golden's exit. Yet, I also would not be shocked by a humiliating defeat either. I have lost confidence in the staff, and by that,I mean every single one of them. But you evaluate AFTER a season. Then you can have the debate. It just isn't fair to the team not to support them fully while the games are being played. That may not be the "Miami" way among fans but I do think it is the classy and right way of doing things. I know this may not be popular but it is the way things should be done at the U.

Golden is stealing his pay check because he is not qualified nor has he displayed the ability to coach on this level. At some point this thing has to be blown up again. We will beat Pitt and make a shitty showing in the Pull Weed Bowl against Nobody University!

I'm sadly rooting for Pitt right now. I think when the game starts I'll feel my blood flow orange and green though. Unfortunately because of our inept administration losing out is best for our long term success.

I think Coley has done some good things. He's not elite at Xs & Os, I'll give you that. Under the right HC he could become great. See one of the jobs of a HC is to develop his assistants, is Golden doing that?
Posted by: The Dude | November 23, 2014 at 11:26 PM

Number 1 on that list was Mark Richt, who I think would be a significant upgrade over Al but am still worried he can't win games he should. Butch is numero uno to me.

You were far more forgiving than any of us. I used to read your blogs and wonder if we were seeing the same thing. But I came to respect the point of view that there would be no calls during the year for the guys head. Whether he gets 2015 is beyond our pay grade because it really is the situation we are dealing with. Nothing changes because of this blog I don't think.
A loss in either of these last two games would make the case for bringing him back impossible to defend even for Donna. So let's wait and see? Why pull the trigger now when you have been so supportive of the concept of letting the year play out? Don't get me wrong, I was so pissed at Golden in 2012 you banned me, lol. But having let him stay on this long, let it play out.
Posted by: SJMPARMAN | November 23, 2014 at 11:36 PM
Next coach can NOT be a defensive guy. CF is about points. Needs to be an offensive guru. Unless its Butch.
