If my pillow could talk, imagine what it would have said
Could it be a river of tears I cried in bed?
So you can cry me a river
Daddy, go ahead and cry that river
'Cause I cried, how I cried a river over you
How I cried a river over you

Yes. He lives in Ohio, I think his last name is Cane? Lol

CaneRock

No disrespect to Duke, but He ain't better than OJA. OJA was like having a Randy Moss & Adrian Peterson hybrid in the backfield. If OJA was at UM today, He'd probably have 5K career yards rushing in today's wide open game...IJS.

1mg of Epi

I sure would be embarrassed if anyone knew I thought u were referencing a Justin Timberlake song, Not Ella Fitzgerald.

Soup once again well said and we share your sentiments brotha. Coach Golden your time at Miami should be over. That is all. Go Canes.

I'm assuming golden will be back no matter what happens the 2 games. Anybody have any reason to believe otherwise?

“You know, you come into another environment like this, you’re on the road at night, you’ve got to consistently play at a high level…and we didn’t play consistently well enough tonight, no question about it.”

An "environment like this"???!! He's talking about UVA!!! Disgusting

WWIN

Soup, good article but sad! 😭😭

I preferred Golden staying over starting all over again with a new staff, unless it was Butch and Co of course, but unfortunately this is the best that Golden has to offer. He had the best team in the MAC and didn't produce, he didn't even get invited to a bowl game with 8 wins in his last season at Temple! We hoped that he learned on the job but I don't think he has, he's just to soft hearted! Just think, this was the best spring and fall camps he's EVER had and then look at the results.

This is me saying this as nice as I can. Sorry, but it's the truth.

86Cane

I think that Golden will first choke and then drown on his own words. The PR spin is not going to get it anymore. He sounds like Obama or Bush or any other U.S. President defending all of their mistakes in office.

As my good friend NativeCane says:

Canes win 77 to 58, and go to 5-0 for the season. Charlotte is a pretty good team and the Canes dominated that game

To play devil's advocate, but if Golden still had His original offensive staff, do ya'll think things would be different?

The blog ate my post! Too tired to re-write it! I'm with you Soup!

The Dude

CR,

I don't think James Coley is the problem.

SJMPARMAN

I think the blog is a tad early myself. A tad. I say let the games play out. We should beat Pitt at home and we should face some fourth or fifth seed from some other conference. Could be a winnable game. That would be 8-5.

I felt it was unfair before the South Florida game for Randy when coaches were told a change was coming but not Randy. And the fans were ridiculous. When Randy took over, the cupboard was bare as bare could be. Remember that our best pass catcher on the team was Lance Letmedrop it Legget? We were so depleted at QB that Kirby Freeman started against NC State and he was so bad we ran almost every down.

Al didn't have a bare cupboard. He had a loaded one but he ran the guys off. Have you heard even one recent UM grad speak up for Al? One? Current players don't have the option to speak freely but a grad does, and nobody is defending him. I think that says something.

But nonetheless, we have to let all the games play out. I am not a Golden supporter, I am a Miami Hurricanes supporter. I don't like the coaching and haven't for a few years. But I won't root for Pitt or any other team to beat my Canes just to hasten Golden's exit. Yet, I also would not be shocked by a humiliating defeat either. I have lost confidence in the staff, and by that,I mean every single one of them. But you evaluate AFTER a season. Then you can have the debate. It just isn't fair to the team not to support them fully while the games are being played. That may not be the "Miami" way among fans but I do think it is the classy and right way of doing things. I know this may not be popular but it is the way things should be done at the U.

canesteeler

Golden is stealing his pay check because he is not qualified nor has he displayed the ability to coach on this level. At some point this thing has to be blown up again. We will beat Pitt and make a shitty showing in the Pull Weed Bowl against Nobody University!

Miami Coaching Hot Board: The Top 10 Replacements For Al Golden If He Gets Fired or Leave

The Dude

I think Coley has done some good things. He's not elite at Xs & Os, I'll give you that. Under the right HC he could become great. See one of the jobs of a HC is to develop his assistants, is Golden doing that?

Number 1 on that list was Mark Richt, who I think would be a significant upgrade over Al but am still worried he can't win games he should. Butch is numero uno to me.

SJMPARMAN

I tried to wait it out, I tried to be as patient as I could, I tried to be as positive as I could be. I was forgiving more than most...but I CANNOT do it anymore.

You were far more forgiving than any of us. I used to read your blogs and wonder if we were seeing the same thing. But I came to respect the point of view that there would be no calls during the year for the guys head. Whether he gets 2015 is beyond our pay grade because it really is the situation we are dealing with. Nothing changes because of this blog I don't think.

A loss in either of these last two games would make the case for bringing him back impossible to defend even for Donna. So let's wait and see? Why pull the trigger now when you have been so supportive of the concept of letting the year play out? Don't get me wrong, I was so pissed at Golden in 2012 you banned me, lol. But having let him stay on this long, let it play out.

The Dude

Next coach can NOT be a defensive guy. CF is about points. Needs to be an offensive guru. Unless its Butch.

The Dude

2. Miami: If you look hard enough, there have been signs of life at Miami the past couple of years. But every time the Hurricanes make a stride forward, they fall on their faces and get lapped in the mediocre ACC, prompting fans to fly airplane banners calling for Al Golden to be fired. It's not healthy, it's not productive, but hey, at least a few people still care enough to spend money on such frivolity. Of course, given that Miami doesn't really have the fan base or financial wherewithal to be a significant national player in this college football environment, the Misery Index is quite sure athletics director Blake James would prefer Miami "fans" just write a donation check. For a whole lot of reasons, Miami isn't what it used to be, even if its fan base doesn't realize all the factors that have contributed to the mediocrity. Still, losing 30-13 at Virginia on Saturday wasn't a good look. And even if the Hurricanes beat Pittsburgh this week to finish 7-5, the season has been nothing to brag about. The former players aren't happy, the fans are mostly apathetic and the administration is caught between wanting to win like Miami used to win and the comfort of having a solid, buttoned-down coach who projects an image of doing it the so-called "right way." It would be hard to believe Golden is legitimately in trouble, especially with a stud freshman quarterback to build around in Brad Kaaya, but losing to Virginia is not the kind of performance that does wonders for job security.

Might as well make a change now, it can't get any worse.

CaneRock

WWIM...I'll give you the KSU game, but Fish got better His 2nd season. Remember, Fish lost Streeter,Jacory,Miller, & Benjamin after that 1st season. And Morris finished that 2012 season as the hottest QB in America.

Difference between Fish & Coley to me, is Fish was a "take what they give" you OC, who learned to be more aggressive...and Coley is an aggressive OC, who needs to learn to take what they give em'. If you remember that GT game, the CB was giving Dorsett a big @$$ cushion, and Coley rarely exploited it.

Pull Weed Bowl against Nobody University!

LTCF and I used to joke about going out in our yards to pull weeds to relieve the stress of losing. I can't find a weed left to pull at this [point and to be honest I don't even care to look anymore.

86Cane

It is not like we lost by a late turnover and a last second FG. We got dominated and lost 30-13 by a way below average team with less talent.

It is unacceptable, humiliating and embarassing. I am sorry but it is what it is, and IT is total suckage.

SinisterCane

1. That would be the prudent approach.

2. Because I truly believed all along that we were getting BETTER. Not anymore. All Golden had to do was beat a poor, 4 win UVA team and a below average Pitt squad to finish out the year strong and go into the bowl season and recruiting season with momentum. That is all gone now.

3. I prolly did ban U at one time but I am glad U came back! Maybe I should ban myself? LOL

This is what I have been saying for a couple seasons now... not that we had all world talent, but that we have been losing to teams we still have more talent than, even with the "cloud".

SinisterCane

If there any Golden supporters left, here's a good talking point for you,"6-5 is the new cloud."

UMike

Miami, under golden, has NEVER beat a team that finished the year with 8 wins or more.

UMike

IDK who it falls on, I guess coaching, but how in the world in the 10th game of the year are we still burning timeouts cause the play clock is running down?

CaneRock

That last UVA TD says it all. We still can't adjust to an unbalanced line, and we had our Safeties backed up to damn near the back of the endzone. And we've played 2 games in Virginia, but this con-man uses the night games on TV excuse for this one.

And IDK who put DP52 & Walford up to that stunt, but true blue South Floridians KNOW FOOTBALL! And you don't play football for NO COACH!, you play for YOUR SELF!

SinisterCane

Posted by: UMike | November 24, 2014 at 08:32 AM

Players have to execute better, lol

CaneRock

And that list that UMike put up for the DLmen we lost out on, is maddening! $h!t like that can no longer be ignored. At worst, with at least a competent defensive scheme, we should've hit on at least 25% of those kids...EVEN WITH THE CLOUD! The cloud wasn't the NCAA investigation, the cloud was this raggedy @$$ scheme! We can't even recruit good DLmen coming outta HS, now we gotta go the JUCO route...#KSUSOUTH

SinisterCane

Posted by: CaneRock | November 24, 2014 at 08:42 AM

UVA had a 3 and 2 and both safeties where at least 15 yds back from the LOS. like I said earlier, Golden has a conservative built in mechanism that returns to its core when it stays too aggressive for to long

86Cane

UVA gave up 13 points to Kent State and Richmond and 19 to Pitt.

BEERicane

FSI is not that good. It was not a good loss.

A different coach won't fix what is wrong with Miami football. Until the administration makes being an elite football program a priority, the Canes will continue to ride this wave of mediocrity.

I dont understand why we resort back to what was failing us on D...its like we got a few wins in and the staff said "f&*k it were good now, lets go back to what we want to do" lol

I have to agree with this, unless we get lucky with a good up and coming coach who knows how to use the South Florida talent we get.

TonyCane

You got it Mike. The biggest downfall of this program is on offense, not defense. Fisch was lights out better than Coley.

A simple example...put Coley as OC of Oregon. They would have half the snaps under him as they are now.

UMike

I do think Fisch is way better than Coley..I have said for a couple seasons we missed Fisch, good thing Kaaya is as good as he is lol

CaneRock

And don't even get me started on the DBs. To use Golden's words against en', HTF! are you in SoFlo, a fertile ground for DBs, and we've only signed what?...2 or 3 DBs the last few years. That $h!t is unacceptable! Like a former player said, it's better DB coaches at Miami Jackson,Miami Central, & STA than Paul Williams.

And then He offered a Jersey kid, over a SoFlo kid earlier this year. Makes NO SENSE!

I want a coach that not only enjoys winning, but can see himself do anything else.

Off my soapbox.

TonyCane

Coley could not currently run a fast paced offense. His quarterbacks are compelled to make adjustments up to the last second of the play clock. Hence the delay of game penalties and unnecessary time outs.

TonyCane

Or at least that is how is seems

360Cane

Goldie is soft. It's that simple. Probably knows Xs and Os better than anybody but just can't get out of the way of his own fear. Harden up and take risks. You have the speed here in SoFlo to do so.

I know Dorsett can be used for more than a post route. Where do we actually try our speedsters in space? Just northeast style play where they run in the snow.
