Brought To U By The UM Sports Hall of Fame...
The seventh ranked Miami Hurricanes defeated the #1 ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish by the score of 27-10 in front of an electric Orange Bowl sellout crowd of 81,634, which at that time, was a stadium record.
The dagger in the heart of the Irish was a 22-play touchdown drive that consumed 10 minutes and 47 seconds off the clock to start the 2nd half and put the Canes up by 14 points, 24-10.
The big play of course was an impossible 3rd and 43 from the Miami 7-yard line. That was when UMSHof member QB Craig Erickson went deep to UMSHoF member WR Randal Hill for 44 yards!
The Miami defense held the Notre Dame offense in check, holding them to under 250 total yards and intercepting 2 passes. To watch a 7-minute highlight video of this game, click the link below:

Miami would move to #2 in the polls and go on to beat Alabama 33-25 in the Sugar Bowl and claim its 3rd National Championship, because the Irish beat #1 Colorado in the Orange Bowl!

Finalists for the Mackey (Clive) and the and Butkus Awards (Denzel) on a 6-5 team. The 6-5 record may not be great, but that kind of recognition does attract recruits because they all want to make it to the NFL-U.

What a magical place for sure, nothing can compare to the ol' OB. Before they tore it down I was able to get on the field and I took a handful of grass and some dirt and put it in a glass container where it sits in my living room. I felt like I had alot of history in my hands, blood, sweat and tears from players of old that played on the field.

2 losses maximum. We should be no worse than 9-2 right now. Should have beaten GT & UVA, should have gone 1 for 2 at least vs Neb and L'ville.

From another site:
People have been asking me a lot of questions and I apologize for not being able to answer them all in a timely manner. I promise I will try and get to everyone's questions who message me.
One of the questions asked about Golden Future
I can say that there has been discussions about the future of Miami. I am not sure how close the school is to letting Al go but he is not in a great position right now. Trust me when i say this. The school is looking and if they knew they had a really good shot at landing a good coach he would be gone. With all the inside sources I speak with remember this, unless they no Blake James on a personal level then everything is speculation. So treat this as speculation and take this with a grain of salt but that is what I heard.
When the University starts discussing the Head Coaches future then it is never a great sign for the Head coach. This will be James call an as AD his job could also be on the line if things does not improve.
As someone has stated before the cloud was over the basketball team as well but coach L has made tremendous strides.
For Al Golden to be fired the AD would have made up his mind already. A loss to Pitt would be very damaging

Yooper if some day we meet at a game I'll show you the pics we took at the 50 after the last game ever there.
It was amazing, half an hour after the game we realized security was long gone. We drank beers and threw the football around, running routes on that sacred site.
One of the most incredible memories of my life.
Posted by: Go Canes | November 25, 2014 at 08:01 PM
We are more talented than Louisville, Nebraska, GT and UVA. Al has been here long enough to win those games with the clear advantages he has. Unprepared to win all 4 of those games. He's a horrible coach that needs to be fired for the sake of the program.

Blake James must be one of those guys when we kick a FG he screams out "Alright! Nice homerun team!" Progress, lol.
Posted by: The Dude | November 25, 2014 at 08:09 PM
Comparing Coach L's work to the football team's is so ridiculous.
I LOVE what he's done. I think he's an amazing coach, teacher and does an excellent job of getting the most from his players.
But one or two players can completely change a basketball team.
He's been very fortunate to get transfers like Larkin, Kadji, McLellan and Rodriguez. What he's done and is doing with them is awesome.
A football team has dozens of moving parts necessary to win.

I can live with the losses we've had before Saturday because to me they were part, another step necessary, to get the experience we needed to finally go into the following season with legitimate and realistic ACC championship expectations.
But our last loss is inexplicable.
Screw scheme and the rest. This staff has to find a way to instill a mindset in which they strangle big moments instead of being strangled by then.
These kids have made more mind numbing mistakes at the most critical parts of games. Coaches have to get them to do the opposite.

Great coaches can get guys the reps they need in practice. They prepare their team against their team. I can handle a close Louisville loss, not a blow out. GT and Nebraska were really bad losses. Al consistantly has this team perform like its their first day playing. It WILL be more of the same next year.

Posted by: The Dude | November 25, 2014 at 08:37 PM
And that is EXACTLY what I see. Football, a simple game, simply looks TOO HARD for Miami, while at the same time it looks so easy for so many other teams.
We can't get out of our own way, call uneccessary timeouts, can't get plays called in time, have too many men on the field, special teams are horrible, no halftime adjustments, etc. etc.

Here you go!
One of the most common arguments by those in the pro-Golden camp is that Miamisimply doesn't have the players necessary to compete at the highest level. We often hear some of the same lame excuses we've been hearing around here for the last several years.
Maybe Golden doesn't have the players to compete for a national championship. Maybe he doesn't have the players to beat teams like Georgia Tech and Virginia and win a Coastal Division title.
Or perhaps he does. In fact, yes, he does.
According to the latest NFL Draft rankings on CBS Sports, Miami is clearly one of the most talented teams in all of college football.
The Hurricanes have 10 players who have a draft grade on their rankings list -- Duke Johnson, Phillip Dorsett, Clive Walford,Ereck Flowers, Jonathan Feliciano, Anthony Chickillo, Olsen Pierre, Denzel Perryman,Thurston Armbrister, and Ladarius Gunter.
The amazing part about that is that only one school -- the defending national champions and owners of a 27-game winning streak -- has more. Florida State has 12 on their list.
Here is the rest of the AP Top 10 and how many players are on that list:
2. Alabama -- 7
3. Oregon -- 7
4. Mississippi State -- 4
5. Baylor -- 6
6. TCU -- 4
7. Ohio State -- 3
8. Georgia -- 3
9. UCLA -- 3
10. Michigan State -- 5

Posted by: WWIN | November 25, 2014 at 08:56 PM
They didn't decide games, I understand that. But when I look back at this season I'll remember these moments as ones that stopped us from winning games we were in a position to win:
Louisville:
Take a 13-6 lead on Louisville, allow the ensuing kickoff to be returned for a TD.
Get a redone turnover, lateral to Stacy ruled a fumble, takes a probable TD off the board.
Fourth quarter wheel route to Duke down to the 3 yard line, negated by an o-line drifting forward and being ruled illegally down field. A TD and we are down four midlway through the fourth.
Nebraska:
End of third we get an INT, have the ball inside their 30. We are gashing them, and Duke's fumble returned for a TD. Instead of going in for the tie ore lead, we are down two scores.
GT
We are driving in the first half for a two score lead, Kaaya is picked off at their 10 yard line.
Fourth quarter 3rd down dropped by Jones. Three instead of seven.
Fourth quarter, down 21-17, we allow a ridiculous 3rd and 16 conversion, allowing them to sustain a drive in which they score a TD, making it 28-17. Game over.
FSU:
We have them on the ropes, Another TD and they are ready to crash an burn. Dobard completion for 33 yards, into scoring position, and we fumble it away.
Virginia:
Didn't see the game but I read we had a ton of boneheaded mistakes, starting with a blocked fg (again) that's returned to our 3 yard line.
We then commit a penalty on a field goal?? That's another TD that never should have happened.
Good teams don't make those mistakes.
It's coaching, it's player mistakes, it's both.
Clean it up, we will have a very, very good team next year. It continues, there will be a cleaning out.

Go canes... The above couldn't possible be further from the truth. We schemed our way to those losses. The mind numbing aspects to these games are all coaching deficiencies... Playing goal line D 8 yards deep. Maintaining a prevent in the face of the 20th consecutive run. Delay of game on firsts plays of drives. General confusion. I could go on and on.
It's OK to believe AG deserves another year because you came up w an arbitrary date... But don't blame the kids. They're doing what they're taught.

Some may wonder if other major programs with excellent tradition and home recruiting bases are where the Hurricanes are in terms of overall talent. Again, these numbers indicate they're not. Here are some examples:
Texas -- 6
Florida -- 3
LSU -- 4
USC -- 7
Auburn -- 8
Oklahoma -- 8
Lets dig a bit deeper and look at where all other ACC schools rank.
FSU 12, Louisville 9, Clemson 4, Syracuse 3, Duke 2, Virginia Tech 2, Boston College 1, Georgia Tech 1, Virginia 1, North Carolina 1, North Carolina State 1, Wake Forest 1, and Pittsburgh 1.
Miami's non-conference opponents have low numbers as well -- Nebraska 3, Cincinnati 1, Florida A&M 0, and Arkansas State 0.
