Brought To U By The UM Sports Hall of Fame...
The seventh ranked Miami Hurricanes defeated the #1 ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish by the score of 27-10 in front of an electric Orange Bowl sellout crowd of 81,634, which at that time, was a stadium record.
The dagger in the heart of the Irish was a 22-play touchdown drive that consumed 10 minutes and 47 seconds off the clock to start the 2nd half and put the Canes up by 14 points, 24-10.
The big play of course was an impossible 3rd and 43 from the Miami 7-yard line. That was when UMSHof member QB Craig Erickson went deep to UMSHoF member WR Randal Hill for 44 yards!
The Miami defense held the Notre Dame offense in check, holding them to under 250 total yards and intercepting 2 passes. To watch a 7-minute highlight video of this game, click the link below:

Miami would move to #2 in the polls and go on to beat Alabama 33-25 in the Sugar Bowl and claim its 3rd National Championship, because the Irish beat #1 Colorado in the Orange Bowl!

Dude... Exactly. Fundamental sh!t that these nimrods can't figure out.
Go canes... Your summary of games above leaves out something very important..... Why we were in position for one play to result in a loss. One play doesn't win or lose games, schemes, on the other hand....
Posted by: 1mg of Epi | November 25, 2014 at 09:38 PM
The U really isn't in it to win it. They say they are, but they're not. We need a coach that is in it to win it despite The U administration.
Posted by: The Dude | November 25, 2014 at 09:45 PM
86 - I disagree on the Nebraska loss as being understandable. They have 3 losses to Michigan State (which turns out are not as good as last year), Minnesota and Wisconsin (which is playing great now but lets see how they do against OSU.
I dont think we should have lost to Ville either. They had a new QB in there just like we did. Now that I look back, its even more frustrating as to how we let some of the games get away from us.

A team is a reflection of their head coach. Golden is soft and our beloved Canes are soft. There is no way in hell a bunch of Wahoos should beat the Canes. Mario Cristobal after two years under Satan, I mean Saban would be a great addition to the Canes as head coach. Just my opinion.
Posted by: canesteeler | November 25, 2014 at 09:50 PM
I'd take Mario as a last ditch HC, on the super cheap with a 5 year contract with the last 2 years being tiddlywinks.
Posted by: The Dude | November 25, 2014 at 09:52 PM
Seems funny though, I always hear about the bridges Butch burned at The U but no one ever mentions Mario in that way, and he didn't even build the 2001 team.
Posted by: The Dude | November 25, 2014 at 09:54 PM
The Dude it would be interesting to have inside scoop because although Mario received a significant pay raise I think he also recognized the short comings of AG has a HC.

Let's go Canes start the second half strong!

GoCanes: Coach L is the anti-Golden. He finds ways to use what he has, and makes incredible adjustments at half time. And I wasn't sold on him until this year, after years of skepticism due to the last five combined football and basketball coaches.
Sinister- appreciate the post, and not to bag on you in any way, but those are the posts to be careful of. Lots of people pretend to know something, or exaggerate what they hear. Anyone of us could have said exactly what the poster on the other site said, its too ambiguous. People pedal hope whenever we get to this situation (meaning the fan base has given up on the coach, and we're all waiting for good news). I still say Golden is here next year barring some personal misconduct that would shock everyone's conscience. As bad a coach as he is, he isn't a bad man, so plan on seeing him on the sidelines next year.

Go canes, would love to hang out next time I go to Miami for a game. My brother lives about 10 min tops from the stadium. The next time I fly down to see my bro I hope to get together with all those here on the space who frequent the games!
Posted by: YooperCane | November 25, 2014 at 10:12 PM
The depth in which people defend and rationalize reason for being 6-5
Posted by: SinisterCane | November 25, 2014 at 10:14 PM
Go canes... The above couldn't possible be further from the truth. We schemed our way to those losses. The mind numbing aspects to these games are all coaching deficiencies... Playing goal line D 8 yards deep. Maintaining a prevent in the face of the 20th consecutive run. Delay of game on firsts plays of drives. General confusion. I could go on and on.
It's OK to believe AG deserves another year because you came up w an arbitrary date... But don't blame the kids. They're doing what they're taught.

Raphael Kirby said LB coach Hurlie Brown said this team has national championship-level talent -- better than the teams of the old days.

I disagree with Hurlie. This team doesn't even sniff the talent of those teams Hurlie played on.

It isn't rocket science, Golden and Co don't know what Miami brand of football is. They talk the talk but they can't walk the walk. Those players that defend these coaches are either brain washed or deep inside they know that they have not bought into Al and Co's idea of what brand of football the Cane's should be. It has been a looong decade of ups and downs and all of us are looking for answers. We want results and we want them now, inspect what you expect.

Yooper... The players are saying what they have to say. If your company was underperforming and a reporter asked you what the problem was, would you throw your boss under the bus? No... You'd say whatever you needed in order to keep your job.
Posted by: 1mg of Epi | November 25, 2014 at 10:51 PM
And we foul them on a 3 attempt....

Ohio we sure as hell tried. Lol
Posted by: canesteeler | November 25, 2014 at 10:58 PM
PHEW! But Charlotte had what, 42 pts in the paint, that's what concerns me as the season moves forward. But we did what we had to win.
Posted by: CaneRock | November 25, 2014 at 10:58 PM
McClellan is a monster. Career high 31 pts.
Manu played awesome too.
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | November 25, 2014 at 10:59 PM
@ByTimReynolds: Sheldon McClellan became the first @CanesHoops player with at least 31 points and 11 rebounds in a game since Steve Rich (43-13), 2/20/96.

When comparing the UM and FSU programs, here is one tiny, frustrating snapshot from a Canes perspective: FSU’s five-star defensive back (sophomore Jalen Ramsey, the No. 3 corner in the 2013 class) created havoc against UM and has two picks, three sacks, a blocked extra point and has become a difference-maker recently.
Conversely, UM’s five-star defensive back (junior Tracy Howard, No. 1 corner in 2012) hasn’t started a game all season after starting 12 last year – “I would have never thought” that would happen, he said Tuesday --- and estimated he played just a dozen snaps against Virginia. He said he won’t leave school early or transfer.
Howard said he doesn’t know why he’s not playing more, but we’re told UM loves the skill sets of Artie Burns and Corn Elder and believe they have earned more time. And Howard’s average speed has been an issue at times.
