Big deal. (Sarcasm) he said something true. He graduated a lot of players at Miami.

CaneRock

PHUCK! Just found out we gotta replace our whole drainfield. Knew we should've got a crib in City limits...PHUCK!

The Dude

WQAM changed up their website? I can't find anything anymore...

HillViewCane

So what are the thoughts on Mario Cristobal as HC?

UMike

I wouldnt mind Cristobal... he saw the writing on the wall and got the hell out imo

TheeMackJones

Looking into my murky, fuzzy distorted Crystal Ball. I SEE-r your Miami, Florida Hurricanes facing mighty Florida from the SEC.

So it looks like the Canes will spend some time in small town Shreveport, Louisiana come December 27th.

Oh well, at least the Hurricanes will be feasting on some tasty Cajun cuisine.

The Dude

You guys think FIU will eventually pass us up? What if FIU hired a guy like Butch?

SJMPARMAN

Golden not going on the radio today is a soft ass move.

Could mean two things.

1. He is out meeting with recruits and parents letting them know he is gone but that they should stay committed to the U.

or

2. he is just a soft ass dude who can't show his face when the whole state of miami wants him gone.

CaneRock

Total Revenues for Teams minus Total Expenses for Teams (Line 12-Line 8)

Men's Teams:$5,074,486
Women's Teams:-$7,627,015

Go Canes

He cant just be out recruiting with the rest of the coaches?

The Dude

SOUP,

A big concern I have with Winston Moss is that he hasn't even been a coordinator at all. He's the Assistant Head Coach of one of the best teams in the NFL to one of the best coaches. Do we really know what he is responsible for?

TheeMackJones

2. he is just a soft ass dude who can't show his face when the whole state of miami wants him gone.

Posted by: UpNorthCane | December 01, 2014 at 12:39 PM

But I beg to disagree. Because the current President and AD and wise elders on the Board of Trustee's STILL want the beloved Golden.

And as long as the Powers That Be have the final say so regarding Golden. Miami will continue to a Coastal Division BOTTOM FEEDER.

UMike

Still got one last supporter I see lol

The Dude

He cant just be out recruiting with the rest of the coaches?

Posted by: Go Canes | December 01, 2014 at 12:43 PM

Hopefully he's out recruiting a 2015 employer not named Miami(FL).

The Dude

Is there any whisper at all out there that a change is coming? Any? Any? At all?

mi@mic@ne

On that ranking chart we were ranked 100 on red zone offense and 70th on red zone d... our time of possession was also low at 29.07....These are the stats that show why we lost 6 games...

UMike

I honestly dont think a change will happen, just cause the money involved and with DS leaving...not because he deserves any more time. Oh well

Go Canes

There is no change coming at the head coaching position.

The Dude

Is anyone going to address anything? This is crippling for the fan base and The U has NOTHING to say? Al has NOTHING to say? Blake has NOTHING to say? Donna has NOTHING to say? Where in the f*ck is the leadership of this U? Miami is burning and these people are playing fiddles!

WWIN

OGV did say Blake James was over promoted

Posted by: SinisterCane | December 01, 2014 at 09:37 AM

OGV said A LOT that has since come true.. hope he gets back on soon

Posted by: UMike | December 01, 2014 at 09:38 AM

OGV still reads the blog! He tries to comment every now and then but he said all of his post get caught in the spam filter and you know how long his post be lol! So he got tired of trying to post

mi@mic@ne

The halves are 30 mins so it shows that our opponent average possession was one half of the game. at 31 mins..

The Dude

There is no change coming at the head coaching position.

Posted by: Go Canes | December 01, 2014 at 12:52 PM

No offense, but as you've said, you are no one. I need to hear leadership say this. Will they say anything good, bad or ugly?

The Dude

Posted by: mi@mic@ne | December 01, 2014 at 12:53 PM

No offense, but so what?

Go Canes

Leadership already did. James said Golden will be back, so today in their eyes it's business as usual.

Coaches are out recruiting right now and they'll prepare for the bowl game as any other team will.

UMike

I think Go Canes is right, no change is coming. This administration has already given its support to Golden and probably doesn't feel the need to say it again.

WWIN

Anyone know a good agent? WW?

Posted by: The Dude | December 01, 2014 at 12:05 PM

Yes sir! I'll have you on the market in no time!

Once opon a time I use to be a HUGE Titans fan, but the dumb @$$ owner wouldn't get rid of Field Goal Fisher! Then he finally fires Fisher and hires his O-Line coach(who da hell does that!) that's been on his staff for 17yrs! To make a long story short, I'm no longer a Titans fan! F em!

Good to know. I'm thinking I'll take next year to watch a few teams while waiting to see what happens with the presidency at The U. I'll be watching USC mostly. They're a strong favorite for my fandom if Miami can't step up to the plate.

Anybody that supports this $h!t show, is either a troll, or doesn't know $h!t about football.

EVERYBODY...

Rank our units on the team, Offense, Defense, and Special Teams from best to worst (#1 being the best, #3 being worst)

UMike

CR... they dont care... they know they are locked into a long contract and will have to pay big time to let him go. Besides the more they come out and defend the worse it looks to recruits. They will be quiet as they already gave Golden their support

Under no circumstances should you become a fan of the University of Spoiled Children.

Far better to step away from college football entirely for a few years while you wait for Miami to get its **** together. You'll pick up an extra 3 months of Saturdays per year.

Go Canes

A ton of former players swear by Swasey and come back to train with him in the offseason instead of with their own teams.

If I had to rank our problems, he wouldn't be anywhere near the top of my list.

TheeMackJones

Special teams has been absolutely the worst unit for a long, long, long, long time. Akin to the Miami 2011 defensive unit being the worst unit since the 1970's

And guess who coaches STs. Talk about irony of the Carpetbagger sort.

WWIN

Ohio_Cane, you okay????

Is there any whisper at all out there that a change is coming? Any? Any? At all?

Posted by: The Dude | December 01, 2014 at 12:45 PM
Nothing. All quiet. If you want the "so there's a chance," hope, there have been no votes of confidence, no pats on the back, no public support, nor any response to the numerous calls for Golden's job either.

dj moonbat

Posted by: UMike | December 01, 2014 at 12:59 PM

I think it's next to impossible that The Powers That Be aren't currently besieged with demands to do something. They are probably on the phone RIGHT NOW with somebody angry about the direction of the program. They know there's a need to say something. They just don't know what they can say that will make them look like they've got some sort of decent plan.

TheeMackJones

O-C is still taking the time, to conjure up RATIONALIZATIONS on WHY he continues to defend Golden. SMH

WWIN

And guess who coaches STs. Talk about irony of the Carpetbagger sort.

Posted by: TheeMackJones | December 01, 2014 at 01:19 PM

This is why Golden is in no position to fire anybody, cuz he's been the worst coach on staff! The only coaching change he can make is bringing in a new Special Teams coach!

j.w.

Posted by: Go Canes | December 01, 2014 at 01:17 PM
Their needs are a lot different than what a 18-20 year old needs. Shoot, A-Rod swore by him as well, it seems that anyone who doesn't need to get (naturally) stronger or bigger does just fine with Swasey, so he knows conditioning.

UMike

If Golden was to fire D'No and bring in someone else AND BE COMPLETELY HANDS OFF and let them bring in their own D staff.... brings in a ST coach or promotes someone maybe he stays and it improves...but imo he will never know how to run a program like Miami, he needs to be up north somewhere or back at Temple

SinisterCane

WQAM went zero dark 30 again, Hmmmmmmmmmm

UMike

Swasey does not have the freedom to simply do what he wants with these players (or at least I think he doesnt)... he simply goes by the coaching staff's wishes. He has done a great job at bulking current players up, not his fault the staff went overboard on some players.

The Dude

Posted by: dj moonbat | December 01, 2014 at 01:16 PM

Lol. Nah, it makes sense for me though. At least they want to win games. 8-4 with only 57 scholarship athletes available. They fired Kiffin because they weren't winning enough. It's an easy transition because they are the Miami of the west coast and I'm from SoCal. Miami has every opportunity to get me back after/if I file the paperwork with my agent.

UMike

Its Miami or bust for me. I will root for teams like FIU also simple cause their from Miami, but its always going to be Miami or Soddy Daisy for me, win or lose. But that doesnt mean I have to put the same energy into it.

Da U N Houston

Golden has said MANY thimes that he runs the ST.

Swasey is not a problem, he does what's asked and does it well.

The DB COACH is HORRIBLE!!!!!!

No way Fentress should have been on the field, maybe on ST and that's it! I know we were short on numbers with injuries but I'd rather play Gayot, he has to be better. If not we are real trouble next year. Our safety and DB development has been bad for years.

I totally get this, you're from there. I'm from SoCal and moved to SoFL when I was 16. Butch had a pretty good team then. It really took of in 2000 and I fell in love. Loved the 2000 Canes and thought we were cheated. 2001 we won a 'ship. 2002 we were robbed. 2003 we were loaded. On and on you know the story. Miami stopped loving me back at some point and a bad marriage is a bad marriage at this point. No they don't care? It's not something I HAVE to deal with. No one can say I'm bandwagon or front running. It's just not working for me, this long distance relationship, lol.

dj moonbat

Posted by: UMike | December 01, 2014 at 01:36 PM

Yeah. I'd be happier knowing they started over with a new coaching staff -- hope springs eternal! -- but I'll just use autumn Saturdays for something else until things have a chance to improve. I'm into college football because of UM, not the other way around.

UMike

Golden has said MANY thimes that he runs the ST.

And is it me, or are our DB's the worst and getting their head around? They NEVER seem to look back or make a play on the ball.

The Dude

I think Swasey is an A+ strength and conditioning coach. Every coach has gotten exactly what they wanted from him.

Everyone else is very debateable. I do like Kehoe also but it may just be loyalty talking. The guy puts guys in the NFL though. I think the biggest thing with his group is there needs to be more of a connection/ communication with his group and the QB. Good QBs almost never take sacks no matter who the OLmen are.

DeeCane

Its being reported that Al Golden, coach D, coach Hurlie Brown, and Coach Williams are at Westminster to see Tim Irvin right now....

We may not get our wish to fire a few coaches....smh

UMike

Nothing will change fellas... if the admin isnt pressuring anything, Golden will maintain the process is working, blame every single thing possible but himself and we will be stuck AGAIN next year with an average team at best.

The Dude

Title of this blog should be "Miami Has No Options."

Gin & Tonic

I still think Al Golden can succeed here. He just needs the $ to hire top end assistants and coordinators.

Said it before and still believe that Golden is more of a CEO type coach, he MUST be surrounded with good assistants and coordinators.

And that is not a knock on any head coach. Look at Alabama, both the OC and DC would be considered great hire as a HC. Is there any wonder why Nicky Satan is successful at Alabama?

Or Urban Liar when he had Charlie Strong and Dan Mullen as assistant coaches at UFag.

Not a coincidence that STRONG programs with successful HEAD coaches are surrounded by OTHER TALENTED coaches. That is something that Coker, Shannon and now Golden have not had.

Posted by: Gin & Tonic | December 01, 2014 at 02:23 PM

Sorry G & T, but that "CEO type coach" is a fallacy. Those 2 names that you mentioned, are innovators in some capacity. Saban teaches an innovative way of playing secondary...Urban Myer's won everywhere He's gone, with that offense that He runs.

What does Golden bring to the table?...what has He innovated?

Da U N Houston

And is it me, or are our DB's the worst and getting their head around? They NEVER seem to look back or make a play on the ball.

Posted by: UMike | December 01, 2014 at 01:48 PM

RIGHT!!!! I swear they never turn back, they rather Hold or get a PI instead of turning their heads and going for the pick. THAT IS ALL COACHING. Burns and Corn Elder have WAY too much speed to not be given the coaching to run with a wr and then turn for the ball.

TH3 is too much of a technichain to not be given the oppurtunity to read and react. He is not a good man coverage (i.e. Deon or Reavis) due to lack of top end speed. But he is a really good for short yardage zone (i.e. Ronde Barber, Aquib Talib, etc).

Da U N Houston

And if the issue is $ for assistance, then Al needs to take a self imposed pay cut and use the additional dough for better assistance. Better to take less now to win and then demand mor money than to keep most of the money for himself and get fired with no money later.

The Dude

Sounds to me like Al is never getting fired so why take a pay cut?

laquinton

We have a choice. As fans of the program we can create a go fund me account and say this is for the buyout of one Al golden. The administration can pay for the other coaches . Everybody give what they can but $65 per average fan is just enough to equal his buyout total and there you have it. That's a boys dream..

What will happen is that Miami won't don't anything about it and throughout this year hopefully we don't get stomped in the bowl game and into national signing day and another couple months of hearing about u tough and players doing so well to under achieve under Al again but then will we see MMiami be average and 6-6 again and the end of the Al Golden era
