Coulda.
Shoulda.
Woulda.
Your Miami Hurricanes were this close to pulling of a huge upset win over FSU on Saturday night at Sun Life Stadium. The Hurricanes dominated their in-State rival for all of the first half and most of the game but just could not find a way to close it out with a victory.
While it is clear to most fans that the Hurricanes are making some serious progress as a team and a coaching staff, some fans just can't seem to wait long enough for "the process" to complete itself.
I, for one, can wait.
After Saturday night's performance it should be clear to both fans and those many of the high profile high school recruits that Golden has the 'Canes headed in the right direction and on the right trajectory to return to the top of college football. Still, he has yet to get that "signature" win that have been waiting for.
Last night was another huge chance to make that happen, and my oh my, what a relief that would have been. But to be fair, it was the players on the field that let it slip away, not the coaching staff or the game plan.
Yes, I agree, the team wins and loses as a team but in this game it was turnovers, penalties and near misses in execution that led to Miami's loss, not the coaches or their strategies.
So we sit, and we still wait. Waiting with the hope that our kids can wipe away the tears they feel today and get to experience Hurricane football like many of us did growing up during the glory years of 1983 to 2003. We wait for that game when and where we can say once and for all: "WE ARE BACK!"
Until then we continue to bleed orange and green and hope that we can win out finish 9-4 and come back with a roar in 2015. Because the Canespace 12% bus will get cranked up again next year and this time I am cutting the brake lines and driving that thing myself, scary as that may be.
Coulda, shoulda and woulda is not going to cut it.
Yes, In 2015 that bus will either take us to the promised land or crash and burn.
Now, can I get somebody to type "promised land" into their GPS, I don't want to get lost? We can all agree that the alternative does not sound good and is completely unacceptable.
Go Canez!

Go Canes
Was talking with a buddy of mine about this earlier tonight. Seen every team we faced this season play multiple times and can only draw one conclusion.
If Winston goes this year, which he will, I can't think of a single opponent we won't be favored against next year.
I've obviously supported this staff getting until next year to get their players, build depth and start winning again.
Anything worse than an undefeated coastal season and an ACC championship birth and all bets are off for me in 2015.

Didn't I hear him saying something about how he was definitely going to stay and get his degree? He seems like he's really into education. A real thinker, that one.
Although if he's going to start having to pay for crab legs, he may need to go pro.

I Agree with this write up 100%.... As Hard as I ride the Coaches this one is Definitely on the Kids.... Execute!! Other than Losing they really played a good game... pure example of when Good is not Good Enough.. WELL Do Know Now....Its Gonna Be Hella Hard to Get on that 12% Bus Next Year...Trust That Process!!

Hurricanes senior Clive Walford has been selected as one of eight semifinalists for the John Mackey Award, given to the most outstanding collegiate tight end in the country. He's tied for the team lead with seven touchdown receptions.A midseason All-America pick by Phil Steele, Walford stands as the most prolific tight end in UM history. Whoever said Jalen Ramsey loved UM, I think you're mistaken. He was committed to USC and flipped to FSU. I don't think we were even in his top 5.
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | November 17, 2014 at 04:41 PM
I said it. He's from Nashville, so I know for a FACT! I even told you in a email if you go back and look. We didn't recruit him!

Brad and duke cramped up...injures are stacking up....play calling is arguably horrendous at times....you have to call put the coaching staff. Enough is enough. I love Al actually but something has to be done. The Process is taking too darn long.

2016 LB Zach McCloud committed to Miami! Huge get! If they stay committed, we're SET at LB. Shaq Quarterman, Pinkney and McCloud. HUGE!
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | November 17, 2014 at 09:23 PM
Now, time for 2015 guys to start committing lol
Ps - McCloud was at the FSU game. Guess taking them to the brink and losing didn't hurt.

The U not only beat FU in hoops tonight. They did it at FU and with the turds ranked #8. Angel Rodriguez was on fire, leading all scorers on both teams with 24, hitting 7 of 14, along with an amazing 5 or 8 from 3 three point land. James Palmer came off the bench to add 10 for the U, along with going 2 out of 3 from beyond the arc. The nice surprise is to see a center hitting his FTs, as Jekiri did tonight, hitting 4 of 4. He has made a lot of progress these last few years, but still has work to do. Good program for him to be at, as Coach L. really does an amazing job with development, getting the most out of his players and making great game decisions. He truly is a student of the game. Beating a top 10 FU teams helps ease a bit of the sting from the football loss to FSU, although I know we still focus way more on football than any other sport....and it is early in the hoops season. These are the early season non-conference games that build a post-season resume while helping prepare for the conference games. The only issue is they may lose the element of surprise. ;)

Lmao. Glad we got a other linebacker that we have to hold on to for another year of recruiting. I know he won't but man Golden and Muschamp.. that defense would be nasty.
Posted by: laquinton | November 17, 2014 at 09:27 PM
I would not hate Muschamp at DC
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | November 17, 2014 at 09:35 PM
That would be awesome but...
He'll command over a million per, and get it.

Canes basketball team beat the Crocs in Canesville. Da Pimp is working his magic yet again. It's great to be a Miami Hurricane.
Posted by: Terrance Sullivan | November 17, 2014 at 09:42 PM
Depends on his out clause and how his exit negotiations went the last week or so. He may be prevented from coaching at any level in Florida for the next couple of years, or he may be prevented from coach oping at all, or the SEC, or other possibilities. I believe he's getting (I heard) 6 million. That 6 million doesn't come without strings.
Good DC - but I don't see him as HC material at any major program.

Could you all imagine getting LSU in a bowl game on our way up and on their way down this time??
What better way to send a message heading into next season that UM is "BACK"!!
Congrats to the BBall team tonight knocking off Floriduh 69-67 IN THEIR HOUSE!!
LARANEGA IS THE TRUTH!!
Go 'canes!!!!

I'm not sure we need Muschamp as Mark seems to finally care what people besides his wife and kids think and he has seen the light and has been calling good defense. I'd say the pressure the fans have been applying on the staff has been pushing them to improve. I think even in the loss, we may have already turned the corner. I don't just expect to win, I expect to dominate the rest of our schedule. We really have to address the talent on the DL in recruiting. Jenkins, AQM and McCord are really nice players, but it showed that we need more fresh legs on the DL.
DJMB, I saw what you said about Dorsett and the WRs. Its true we will be good at WR next year and Coley is fast too. But after Coley there's no one that pins the safeties back. We need to be grooming that guy. At Miami we should always be able to do that. Unfortunately we couldn't score another TD last night even with the safeties back.
Posted by: The Dude | November 17, 2014 at 09:54 PM
Not saying we need him or that I'm hating what D'No has done the last few weeks. Just saying it wouldn't be a hire I scoffed at.
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | November 17, 2014 at 09:58 PM
Muschamp would never work with golden bc wills defenses freelance too much. Watching Ramsey play it was like sean Taylor light how he just took over at times. I really wish guys like bush were allowed to play like Ramsey all over the field.

Ohio_Cane, on Ramsey...
Coaches from other schools told him we were getting the death penalty and he believed it, once I told him, it was too late by then! Like you, I thought he loved USC too but Canes were his dream school! Our coaches didn't tell him we were NOT getting the death penalty, that was the problem.
Posted by: WWIN | November 17, 2014 at 10:08 PM
The recruits need to get on the bus or they are gonna miss out on our return to being THE U again. Als got us playing fast. I trust Als plan. We just need to stack the team with more talent.

"Hurricanes Fall Short Against Seminoles"
Please don't remind me!
"Much Improved Hurricanes . . ."
There's no sugar coating this loss. A loss to our biggest in-state rival for the FIFTH consecutive year - knocking UM out of the ACC Coastal race AGAIN - is too much to bear.
When will this nightmare end? Please don't say "next year". That's what we all said LAST year.
Posted by: 2002nemo | November 17, 2014 at 10:10 PM
It doesn't matter if Ramsey came here he freelances too much and do ppl really believe that dno and golden would allow him to play the way he does at fsu in their scheme
Posted by: jsy | November 17, 2014 at 10:11 PM
Shameful how Canes fans disrespect the great Ed Reed I guess he was just some scrub huh. For my money the greatest safety ever at Miami with Sean Taylor/Bennie Blades tied for 2nd best funny how Canes fans rarely say someone plays like him. Smdh.

You know damn well Golden doesn't read the Internet, listen to the radio, or watch television! Hell he probably doesn't even have a computer, radio, or television!!
Don't be ridiculous to think he feels any kind of pressure, especially from the fan base! Lol

According to CanesInsight.com, Santaluces High 2016 linebacker Zach McCloud (6-3, 210) who is not yet rated by any of the major recruiting websites, also received offers from Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee.
Posted by: Old Skool | November 17, 2014 at 10:16 PM
Who disrespected Ed reed on here? When some fans say that trayon s gray reminds them of frank gore is that disrespecting edge Clinton or Willis? When someone says a certain player plays in a similar fashion to another player how is that disrespecting someone? Just bc Ramsey's game is closer is style to Taylor than Reed who was more of a traditional center fielder. I didnt realise when someone said a while back scarlett reminds them of davenport that it was disrespecting other running backs.
Posted by: jsy | November 17, 2014 at 10:20 PM
If McCloud sticks, it looks like he will end up a decent-sized LB, already said to be 6'2" or 6'3", depending on who you believe, and 215 lbs. and not out until 2016. He's coming out of Santaluces H.S. in Lantana in Palm Beach county, and apparently had one other offer, from UGa. With the only in-state school after him being FAU, I hope as the other FL schools start to pay attention he'll remember who showed him love first and where he made the "verbal" commitment, for what this is worth. Lots of early 4 star ratings on most in the 2016 class, which all means nothing for about 15 mths. FWIW, I hadn't realized how big Quarterman already was (not height, but just size, said to be 6' and 239 lbs?).
Posted by: jcane | November 17, 2014 at 10:24 PM
Al can have next year, but ONE more Coastal loss, ONE more and he has to be gone. This team is too good to be losing to Coastal teams as often as we do. GT & Louisville losses are biting us bad right now.
Posted by: The Dude | November 17, 2014 at 10:26 PM
Old Skool:
I think I saw Scout give him a 4 star rating. I'm not sure what they'd rated him before his verbal though. Others don't have him rated yet. Until they play a few more years, it's really hard to interpret. However, looks like a pretty dang solid early LB corps coming in, as Ohio said.
