#Canes QB Brad Kaaya on Sporting News All-True Freshman team. LB Denzel Perryman a second-team All-American.

86, stop unfollowing Chirinos lol

After the year Clive had, it's no surprise we're landing a big-time TE.

Now, about those 3 RB's....

TonyCane

The thing we should be looking at is this...what did Georgia Tech do year over year to get so good? This was a program that was trending downward. After the shock of Johnsons bazillion option offense wore off it appeared that the ACC had acclimated to defending it. Miami itself won five straight against the Yellowjackets. Yet this year they won the Coastal and nearly beat FSU. What changed from last year?

Go Canes

We need any combo of two of them. IMO it will be Walton and one other one. Don't think we get all three.

Ohio_Cane

I hope it's Scarlett, though I love Dex's versatility to split out wide

Good question. One that only a dedicated researcher like U or VfB Cane could prolly answer though? LOL

Chirinos is HOT, I like her.

She is like the Anti-Susan?

Justin Thomas, experience, & that Shaq Thompson kid is a stud. But like any offense, the better the players, the better the offense...Walter Tucker would be a helluva B-Back in that offense.

Believe it or not, being an Option QB, is MORE demanding than being a traditional, drop-back, Pro-Style QB. A TRUE Option QB doesn't know what the play's gonna be...He doesn't know if He's gonna give, keep, or pitch...He has to make a post-snap decision EVERY play. It's a legit offense, I wish we'd steal some elements of it to increase our FB production.

raizecane

Did someone say Kate Upton??

UMike

Scarlett is a beast

CaneRock

If I could pick 2, I'd pick Walton & Williams. Even though Scarlett is faster, Him & Walton look the same to me, while Williams plays like He runs a 4.3-4.4. And Williams looks like He'll bring more versatility in the return game.

And I wouldn't mind getting Cronkrite back in the fold, wouldn't mind it at all.

UMike

I would pick Walton just because I have a HUGE 305 bias... but Scarlett is a dam beast. I hope we keep them all, just seems unlikely.

Go Canes

@CanesWarningFS: #LRT: If Flowers is projected at 12 by Mcshay, don't expect him to be back for his senior year

Forget 305 bias; Walton plays so damned TOUGH -- like Marshawn Lynch, he seems to look at running the football as an opportunity to hit people.

j.w.

Haven't seen all the comments so I apologize if someone else already said this, but IMO, the reason why the offense looks so much better in the 1st half than the 2nd is that we've scripted most of the plays. Bill Walsh teams were like that all the time. Kaaya looks a lot more decisive in the 1st half, my guess is he has studied the game plan meticulously and knows the script by heart. In the second, when they are playing it more by ear, he looks confused and frankly a little lost.

jsy

If the offense is struggling then the defense should stop the opposition quickly and keep getting the ball back instead of being run on all day long.

Ohio_Cane

The only reason i'd list Scarlett higher than Walton is breakaway speed. Walton will get caught from behind more often than Scarlett.

That's a very plausible explanation. I would think these extra practices plus a full spring and fall in 2015 will limit or eliminate that.

Fielded the WORST defense in school history and now is about to get dropped by Nike!

Lol.

Just lol.

WWIN

This is as big of a steal as we've had in a while. 4* kid with 4 to play 4 and he's the #1 JUCO TE. #16 JUCO overall.

Posted by: Ohio_Cane | December 17, 2014 at 09:47 AM

I remember this one JUCO kid named Bo Sandland, he was a beast...

WWIN

All I've been told is they had trouble fitting his biceps into a jersey. Sounds promising.

Posted by: Go Canes | December 17, 2014 at 10:43 AM

He has bigger biceps than Denzel Perryman?

WWIN

Lol.

Just lol.

Posted by: Go Canes | December 17, 2014 at 12:47 PM

^^^^^^^^That's exactly how I felt about the whole season! It's perfectly clear where you stand now! Lol

And your point? Are U suggesting because this kid is similar in circustance to Beau that he'll flame out and transfer out, just like Beau did?

Ohio_Cane

He has bigger biceps than Denzel Perryman?

Posted by: WWIM | December 17, 2014 at 12:50 PM
---------------------------------------

Well, he IS bigger than Perryman (6'5, 255). Not sure on biceps size, though.

Ohio_Cane

Oh, and Beau didn't have 4 to play 4. He had 2 to play 2. Knew he wouldn't see the field in those 2 years after seeing the talent at TE (Clive & Stan) and transferred somewhere he would see the field.

Adidas is offering $3mil more than Nike.

I don't think the entire 1st half is scripted. They usually script the first drive or two... They wouldn't check-with-me if they were running off a script.

Defenses adjust, and we haven't had an answer.

WWIN

Posted by: Ohio_Cane | December 17, 2014 at 12:55 PM

I'm suggesting that we calm down about these JUCO's until they perform on the field, we haven't had much success with those.

Ohio_Cane

Adidas is pretty far behind Nike in terms of apparel for football right now. Feel, functionality, looks, et al. (I read up on this some)

I would stick with Nike if I could, even if Adidas was offering $3 mil more.

We haven't had much success with anything other than Duke and Kaaya. I'll still be excited about possibilities until proven otherwise.

U are more than welcome to do the opposite.

They kept playing in the ACC Coastal?

CaneRock

Beau got mountain fever, so He went to Montana...I wouldn't say He flamed out. I thought He could've contributed this year.

It's good to see you two come to an agreement. Yes, it's laughable.

Go Canes

Think Huertelou, Kumalu, and Gunter have fared pretty well. Hopefully Wyche will with an injury free year under his belt as well.

Ohio_Cane

CR, Beau couldn't make the 2-deep over Stan. I don't know specifics on his departure, but he was never listed on the depth chart.

They say all good things must come to an end. But for the University of Miami athletic department, it may be on to an even better thing. According to a report in the Palm Beach Post, the Hurricanes are on the verge of ending a 27-year partnership with Nike. When the 'Canes and the apparel giant agreed to the first all-sports contract back in 1987, it was the first of its kind in college athletics. The type of deal — which allowed the retailer to "own the school" (as former Nike executive Sonny Vaccaro referred it) — has become the norm ever since.

But the Coral Gables, Fla. institution decided to let the agreement, which runs through Aug. 31, 2015, expire. Swoosh rivals Adidas and Under Armour have reportedly submitted bids "several million dollars per year richer than Nike’s deal" according to the Post report. Nike will reportedly be given the opportunity to match the bids — but isn't expected to.

Nike dominates the college sports landscape, outfitting 45 of the 65 "Power Five" conference programs. Adidas supplies 11 schools gear, while Under Armour has a deal with eight programs. Georgia Tech has a contract with Russell Athletic. Miami freshman receiver Braxton Berrios weighed in on the news Tuesday night.

Writer is full of $#it calling UA or Adidas "a better thing" than Nike. Unless he's talking about more money, then ok, that's fair.

Ohio_Cane

Deon Bush expected to play in bowl game. Good to hear.

CaneRock

Ohio_Cane...Beau looked pretty good catching & blocking in the Spring game. Besides, getting catches from the TE position is icing on the cake, you really want big TEs like that to be the best blockers on the line.

The Dude

I'd sign Miami up with Aeropostle if they'd buyout Golden's contract.

"According to the Palm Beach Post, Beau Sandland has asked the Hurricanes for a release from his scholarship in order to transfer. As for a potential destination, the Post wrote that “Sandland… wanted to attend college and play football in an environment more like his Woodland Hills, Calif. home, which borders the Santa Monica Mountains.”
