DT Rasheem Green (CA) is being crystal balled to Miami. This would be our biggest get in many, many years.

Me either. Just letting U guys know. Tom Loy picked UM yesterday.

Go Canes

That would be a massive get for us Ohio!

The rotation of him, Moten, Wyche and Huertelou would finally give us quantity and quality we've been lacking big time.

Yep.

Don't forget Courtel Jenkins.

Ohio, you follow this much, much closer than I do- is this a 50-50 chance for us?

Green will be Pac 12 bound.

The Dude

The best get we can get is Butch Davis.

Rasheem Green? I'd say more like 40-60, but there's a shot and he loved his OV last month.

HUGE OL commit! Jahair Jones

Brooklyn (NY) ASA College OL Jahair Jones called up Hurricane coach Al Golden early this afternoon.

Golden picked up the phone and Jones blurted "I'm coming to the U."

"Coach Golden, he was sitting right next to James Coley - they were excited, said `Congratulations,'" Jones said. "I committed to both of them."

Jones says the plan is to sign his Cane papers on Wednesday.

"They said after I sign they'll send me the workout regimen," Jones said.

While he's a UM commitment, he still says he hasn't entirely ruled out Virginia Tech.

"It's 80-20 (Miami)," he says.

Jones says he doesn't see that 20 percent really inching up, though.

He says he picked Miami "because it just felt like it was a better opportunity for me as a player and I saw the people around there (on the official visit), looked at the whole picture. And I want to play against Florida State, love that rivalry."

His expectations coming in early?

"To work hard, learn the system, lift and get stronger," Jones said.

He expects to start out at left tackle.

"The coaches said I can compete for a starting position," Jones said. "I'm going to work my butt of for when the season starts and I plan to start every game."

Jones arrives as a true sophomore - he was qualified out of high school and played one year at ASA College to get more interest. His team finished this season with a 6-2 record.

ASA College head coach Dennis Orlando said of Jones that "he was real comfortable down there at Miami - he's going to fit in there really well. He's a hard worker, is not a `me' guy, is a team guy. I think by him getting here in the spring he'll have a strong chance to contribute in the fall.

"He has the talent to be exceptional in run and pass blocking. He's raw right now because this is only his third year playing football. So he's a raw prospect, but with the right coaching he'll be really good."

Go Canes

Recruiting starting to pick up momentum.

Thanks for the info Ohio.

Like Flowers, He sounds like another one of those kids, that made the transition from bball to football.

And that's the thing, if you're a big athlete, why even bother playing football before the 9th or 10th grade...

Doesn't matter how many 4-5* DL we recruit Golden can't beat UVA or Pitt with talent we have

Assuming Dex sticks, Miami's early enrollee class this year is awesome. Dex, Jaquan, Washington, Perry, Patchan, and Jones

Privileged ‏@Franklinaire 3m3 minutes ago

Add to that the potential of Irvin committing and being an EE, and that's a lot of top tier talent on campus early

Please tell me what's so sad about turning pit bulls into poodles with this 6-6 coaching staff and they're FEAR 3-4 scheme. In 4 yrs. Chickillo has yet to best his Fr. season

Ohio_Cane

If U don't know who they are ^^^^

HS
Scott Patchan* (DE)
Dexter Williams* (RB)
Jaquan Johnson* (S)
Charles Perry (LB)

JUCO
Jerome Washington* (TE) - 4 years to play 4 (RS Freshmen)
Jahair Jones (OL) - 4 years to play 3 (Sophomore)

DL 8 sacks, DBs 6 INTs

(* taken from 247)

DL:

5* Chickillo: 2.0
5* Thomas: 0.0
4* AQM: Suspended
4* McCord: 2.0
4* Hamilton: RS
4* Moten: 0.0
4* Harris: 0.0

DB:

5* Howard: 1
4* Burns: 0
4* Elder: 0
4* Bush: 2
4* Carter: 1
4* Crawford: 0

Its all about maximizing that talent.

Not a single player on this list is put in a position to maximize their talent in this defense.

VA Cane

If I had to guess, VA is currently sleeping one off.

Posted by: 1mg of Epi | December 14, 2014 at 07:44 PM

thanks for the thought GC....hell I wish I had been....might need to do it now though...me and my wife have been separated since 9/1/14.....I got to watch so much football, coach so much football win another title.....now shes coming home from her mothers.....Think I better get on a big bender!!!!!

Thanks to you 1mg of Epi....you got it pat brother!!

I look at football one way:Reality.....what a concept!!!!

I like AlPa as a person; he is what his record says he is....he has not won big games, rivalry games, we have lost to lesser teams.....I am speaking facts....or as CR says PRODUCTION. This staff has failed to produce what they said they would deliver: Winning in Miami tradition.

And I said excuses dont get it, yet some continue to do it....It is fine with me GC that you like AlPa.....thats cool.....but he has not done what he said he would do...WIN!!!!!

Thats all I want to WIN.....in football its all that counts buddy!!!! JMO

1mg...I enjoy your input.....you see things real....and call them so....keep up the good work friend I see ya!!!!!

CaneRock

Sinister...the problem is, they just moved Chick & Pierre to 3-4 DEs last season, and they're asking them to beat guys who've been playing O-Tackle since HS. And it looks like they're gonna ask CT9 to do same thing.

CaneRock

It's like I said before the Pitt game...a double TE team will give this defensive scheme fits. Do the math, a double TE team has 7 potential blockers, against 7 front 7 defenders in our vanilla @$$ 3-4...you're basically trading A HAT FOR A HAT! Look at the NU game, I don't recall any of our front 7 beating their blocks, and making a play.

They're not being asked to beat guys because they're not supposed to beat guys. They don't shed blocks and get into the backfield, they stand up and hold their man. They play patty cake because that's what they're taught to do, not because they cant do more.

Yep.

And it's not just our D-Linemen, it's our LBs also. Again, in the case of a DTE team, your ILBs have to take on Guards...your OLBs have to take on TEs...your DEs have to take on OTs, and your NG has to take on the Center.

IOWs, EVERYBODY has to 2-GAP!

And this is why I have such a hard time understanding people who want to give him more time. I'm not an Xs and Os guy by any stretch, but it's just so obvious watching them play that the system is fundamentally flawed.

It doesn't matter how much talent we have, or how much talent the other team has... Any decent coach will be able to find the soft spots in that D and get 4-6 YPP.

UM/UF tied for 48th best university. So I suppose that means excelling at athletics is not contraindicated with excelling at academics.
