Based on their bios I'm going to venture a guess they expend less than 1% of their time deciding whether or not they're on board with Golden.

"The coaches, they did a good job today," Sedrick said. "Man, what they did showed a lot of first class. The kid saw the importance of that - the first day the season's over, they're here at 7 a.m.
"For me as an uncle that shows a lot of desire, commitment for this kid. You could have been at Killian, anywhere else, but you were here. I appreciate that. They were first class today, and I respect that."
Sedrick added, "They were there a while, it wasn't a hello and a kiss goodbye. It was a while, man. They poured their hearts out, painted the picture.
"My input will be to let him know that was first class what Mr. Golden did today. They were like `You can help us. Look what we got here, our D coordinator, linebacker coach, head coach, what more do you want?' I told him when they do that, you're something special. Other schools have a running backs coach or defensive line coach that come through, that doesn't show importance."
Guess we can't post the whole segment so I didnt

Maybe we can start a GoFundMe account so JJ can take AlPa out to a small deserted island and brainwash him into using an attacking 4-3. I'm sure JJ knows where some are, if not I can show him a couple near the NW Channel off Key West.

I've always been leery of this guy, but TIFWIW...Brian London:
Monday night, as rumors were flying that Miami OC James Coley was considering the Kentucky OC gig, I was on my couch watching MNF and monitoring my Twitter feed. All of a sudden the phone rang. My caller ID told me that the person on the other end of the phone was someone I needed to speak to. Because they are not authorized to speak on the matter, I canāt reveal who the call was from. I can, however, tell you that this person is a member of the University of Miamiās leadership structure. Iāve known this person for a long time, and I know this person to be very passionate about the University in general and especially athletics.
So, when I get a chance to talk to this person, which isnāt as often as Iād like, I take it very seriously.
Here are some random notes from that conversation:
-Any decision about the head football coach at Miami will not be made by athletic director Blake James or President Donna E. Shalala. The decision will come straight from the Board of Trustees, with much of the say coming from the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Stuart Miller. Miller, a UM Law School alum, and CEO of Lennar Corporation, is said to be very āauthoritative and opinionated.ā Heās also very passionate about UM Athletics. Millerās father, Leonard, who passed away in 2002, was the Chairman of the Board of Trustees from 1995-1999. The elder Miller was on the BOT from 1983 until the time he passed away. Oh, and the medical school is named after him. The Miller family holds considerable influence at The U to say the least.
-Several members of the BOT have voiced their frustration with the direction of the football program. Donāt think they are deaf to the situation or you, the fansā frustration.
-Despite reports to the contrary, there is enough money in UMās endowment to both buy out Golden and hire a new coach and staff with competitive compensation. The question is, WHETHER THE POWERS THAT BE want to spend the money. In the past the old guard has been, for a lack of a better word, cheap.
ā Several members of the leadership group were put off by Alās absence last December and his pursuit of the PSU gig. Many people that were once big supporters became disenfranchised.
ā At the very least there will be a heavy push for several staff changes, especially on the defensive side of the football.
ā The belief that leadership does not want to win in football is not true. Especially as it relates to more recent members of the BOT.
-From the conversation I gathered that even though Blake James has given Al the vote of confidence, if the powers-that-be above Blake want a change, there will be one.
ā I was told a decision either way would be made maybe as early as this week, but at the most over the next few weeks. Right now the people that need to do the fact gathering etc were doing that.

And is it me, or are our DB's the worst and getting their head around? They NEVER seem to look back or make a play on the ball.
Posted by: UMike | December 01, 2014 at 01:48 PM
RIGHT!!!! I swear they never turn back, they rather Hold or get a PI instead of turning their heads and going for the pick.

I've never thought Brian London was disingenuous, so I don't doubt the call took place. The cynic in me would say its just an attempt to placate the fans. The optimist in me sees a small glimmer of hope.

I'm hungry too.
Usually asleep by now so I don't notice it's been four hours since I've eaten.
That's about as long I can go without food.
Posted by: Go Canes | December 01, 2014 at 11:10 PM
Soup
You supply the peanuts, and the grapes or strawberries, and the Board of Trustees will meet and discuss whether we need to change from Grape or Strawberry and we will let you know if, and when, we are ready to deliver on what you want. We may have to wait until the new president decides your fate. Deal?

Congratulations to the six Canes that are all ACC. I remember just the last couple of years when the Canes were lucky to have one or two players on the all ACC teams.
Duke and Denzell on the first team, and Walford, Flowers and Dorsett on the second team. Also, congratulations to those 5 Canes that were all ACC honorable mention (if the Canes won more games, some of these would have made the all ACC teams):
QB Brad Kaaya, OL Jon Feliciano, OL Shane McDermott, DE Anthony Chickillo, DT Olsen Pierre, S Deon Bush

I'm excited about the matchup later tonight vs. the Illini. Illinois is at #24/25, and should be a good test. Providence is still on the horizon, and these are the main tough games left pre conference play. The only loss between the two thus far is by Providence to #1 UKy. Providence has played some non-cupcake games, including destroying FSU and narrowly defeating Notre Dame.
Hopefully all who can will support coach L and the very good Hurricane basketball team.
Posted by: jcane | December 02, 2014 at 12:23 AM
let me get this straight, Kaaya isn't 1st nor 2nd team All ACC? Winston is 1st team? Who got 2nd team ACC at QB. WHat TE beat out Wolford? O'Leary?

My 2cents: I think we need to move sooner rather than later if we're going to fir Al so the next HC can save this recruiting class. Fire Al this week and hire Cristobal. I know people feel like he turned on us, but he left to work under one of the best HC's for more money. I'd make that move too. He made FIU a decent team-FIU!, and he he has a year of Saban philosophy under his belt. I think he's the perfect candidate to keep our recruits in south Florida as well. Let him choose the defensive staff- they all have to go and I'm torn about keeping Coley on as an OC. He's still learning on the job, but develops QBs and we'd miss him in recruiting.
I'm just so tired of being tired of losing I'd even consider Kiffen, but then I what a big tool he is and I come back to reality. Let's just hope the BOT make the right call and soon.
Posted by: Canezitis | December 02, 2014 at 02:26 AM
Walford and Kaaya were snubs. I also think Bush was our second best defensive player before he was hurt and would have made a difference on key plays down the stretch. But snubs often happen, especially when you finish 6-6. An 8-4 or 9-3 record like last year and more Canes would be All ACC.
The sad part is that 9 of those 11 players on the all ACC teams and honorable mention are likely leaving for the NFL or graduation.
