IMO, there's no way Davante Phillips picks us. He's been headed to FSU for a long time. We may have made a big push for him, but I don't see it happening.

Posted by: Ohio_Cane | December 31, 2014 at 05:33 PM

I've read everything from UM,FSU, or Alabama.

CaneRock

Seriously, has there been a school that's been trolled by recruits more than UM in the last 10 or so years...

The Dude

Who is @fbrumormill?

TonyCane

Hopefully it's the burning of the game plans from those 7 losses!

Ohio_Cane

TD,

CaneRock

So if it's so bad, why are they still wanting to sign here?

Posted by: Go Canes | December 31, 2014 at 04:49 PM

They know Butch comin'.

The Dude

Are they just trolling Miami fans? What are they basing "smoke" on? Fan sentiment? because we all know The U thinks the fans are delirious.

USAFCane

Despite the doom and gloom it is nice to see the young players sounding off and taking on leadership roles. Never had any inside info but know someone who knows someone close to Jacques Johnson and we're getting a born leader and class act by all accounts. Hope AG doesn't coach it out of him.

Ohio_Cane

TD, probably because everyone has been silent since the bowl game. Golden skipped 2 joe rose shows, Blake james skipped the bball game, etc.

That's just my guess.

Go Canes

Someone forgot to tell him it's so toxic too...

The Dude

^^^ seems interesting to me that all of these players have been popping off on Twitter. I don't want to read into it too much but sounds like guys are trying to reconcile a bad locker room. Too bad Al is still their coach and that they have to figure out how to be leaders on their own. These guys just don't understand how stupid they sound coming off their 6-7 effort. It's hysterical really. Like a dude getting knocked out then popping off afterwards that the other guy better wait cause the next time I see him... Lol. Just shutup. You guys sucked.

The Dude

If that's "smoke" then someone over there needs to replace their Twitter manager. That's as bad as some Gary Ferman ish there.

The Dude

Is that at me? If so are you trying to place new meaning on what I said?

VfB_Cane

Happy New Year to everybody! 2015 just got started half an hour ago in Germany with fireworks and all. May it be a good one for all of you and a special one for the Canes!

They filmed a ghost at Pocatello high school.

Well last year when Golden went super silent for a week. Moten hit Jelani on twitter and said what's going on down there bro and he said idk

The Dude

Slow night around here.

Phillips didn't look so good after all.

WWIN

^^^^^ Lol

I'm shocked he didn't pick UM, I know he lives with Dalvin Cooks mom but still!

The Dude

Okay Canesfans, gear up. It's time to start trolling the Bills.

The Dude

James Franklin should take the Bills job.

The Dude

For djmb ONLY:

Will no one rid me of this troublesome coach?

HAPPY NEW YEAR CANESPACERS!!!

The situation is beyond toxic. It can only get worse. The ONLY way it gets any better for Golden, assuming he gets 2015 and the admin does as most think they will, Al probably has to win 10 games, the Coastal and a bowl. In other words the trifecta of this years goal, 1 year late. That would simmer things down. But with all of the turnover and how long it takes Mark and Al to train people to play in their scheme that doesn't work, well that's one hell of a long shot and is very VERY doubtful. If Miami doesn't do something they are sending a message that is LOUD and CLEAR that Miami is out of the picture playing at the highest level.

Posted by: The Dude | December 31, 2014 at 04:30 PM

Dude they NEVER placed football as a priority, we got lucky w a good AD who found good coaches!! Nothing has changed. Al doesn't need 10 wins. He needs bowl appearances. That's what the admin expects and that's not just my opinion.

The Dude

^^^ read with the fanbase Epi.

1mg of Epi

Yea but I wanna complain about the admin!!!!!!!

The Dude

Go Canes made the same mistake. The relationship between the HC and the fans, the administration and fans is toxic. The U and Golden are sending the message that they find 6-7 completely acceptable. The locker room? Well who really knows, I can say locker rooms are full of really competitive people, so individually most of them aren't happy with the situation. The problem is Al doesn't have everyone on the same page like a championship team should be. I think that's what all of these comments are telling us. My guess is roughly a quarter of this team has tuned him out.

They obviously don't find it all that unacceptable! The fans want NCs and the admin wants bowls... They're actually lucky it took so long for that gap to become evident... They had to fire Coker because he lost control of the team and they had to fire randy because of Shapiro... This is the first time a bad coach with a bad record didn't have anything else swirling around which required him to be fired.

I mentioned on the blog a couple months ago I happen to be around some current and former players a couple times a week... The impression I get is that what we suspect to be true is true, in terms of the locker room. I

Are you saying that this university at some point gave this team the level of support necessary to be a national contender? If so that's news to me. And everybody else.

1mg of Epi

Or are you saying they expect a seriously underfunded and under supported team to just somehow compete nationally?

mi@mic@ne

You look at Miss. St. rushing 5 guys and it makes you mad that we got such soft coaches. They got us playing in a slow gear...plain and simply they are soft coaches

CoCane

1mg,

I'm in contact with a few former players I grew up with and told everybody on here what the deal is. People believe what they want to believe. So f*ck it. I just have fun laughing at the naive...

CoCane

I've been saying it for years now. Lol

The Dude

I think if Al's contract were up, they'd fire him. Especially if bowls are what they want because next year Miami might not go to one. They panicked and made a really bad business decision giving an unproven and unproductive coach a huge contract extension that they didn't give themselves an out on. Now, the money, which I think is evident they have, outweighs their desire to win, which I think they do, just not at a high level. The university certainly has lower standards than the fanbase, much lower. I will buy that the university got more results under great coaches than they ever anticipated. It's sad because everyone knows Miami is a bunch of lying bureaucrats giving mixed messages to their fans, but the fanbase doesn't buy it anymore. Too bad Randy didn't "win enough."

1mg of Epi

I missed it... I take it you heard that the players aren't happy w the coaches and systems?

The Dude

The hire of Al Golden tells you a lot about who's running Miami. They screwed up hard. They thought they had Gruden and Gruden backed out. Then they got sold by Golden like a bunch of yokels at a county fair. It is a comedy of errors by Donna's people. They have no football acumen whatsoever.

The Dude

I can't believe they bent to the will of Golden's agent but not Gruden's. That is just beyond disturbing. People get fired for that kind of crap in business all the time. But who's left to fire? The ADs have all bolted for greener pastures.

1mg of Epi

Dude the frustrating thing is that a coaching change now, the right change, would boost ticket sales enough to cover the buyout annually. I posted te numbers before, winning seasons have 10k+ more butts in seats.

They would fire him now if they didn't have that contract... I don't believe he'd lose the job w 7 or more wins

The Dude

Ugh. I never would have hired Al Golden. Miami is so dumb.

Al was hired by the AD, kosar and dimare... You'd think kosar could've seen thru the BS but I guess Al is that slimy

The Dude

Posted by: 1mg of Epi | December 31, 2014 at 09:43 PM

Maybe. I don't think it would completely but if Al got a job I'm sure they don't have to pay him all of his buyout. Al is too young and engaging to not get a job somewhere. The fact that they are passing up a "golden" opportunity to hire Butch Davis is a huge signal to me that money is the bottom line at Miami. But they'll have to get all that money from somewhere besides the fans.

The Dude

I doubt they ever watched a single Temple game. They met, they said now that guy has a plan and to Golden's credit he addressed many of the knee jerk issues with RS. They told themselves that he's a young JJ. They were wrong. The issue is they said hey, let's take a gamble on this guy but then like fools raised the bet with bad cards.

Surfercane

Ohio - do you feel we will end up with a top 12 recruiting class? You have good insight on that front. Thx bro

1mg of Epi

Well 10,000 per game @ $100 total revenue per seat would be $1 mill per game. The net revenue may be high (but probably not w donation, concessions parking etc) but that attendance increase is very conservative. The actual numbers from previous years was higher.

The money is there. They definitely are gonna have a bad couple years revenue wise because it looks like a lot of us are not renewing tickets. I won't spend a dime either.
