Probably means Flowers is gone.

Which is why I've been waiting on us to pull a JUCO OL, because I expect Flowers to leave.

Ohio_Cane

Expect a Welcome To The U this weekend.

thirstybuzzardcane

Looking at the pictures of Butch Davis, Billy Corbin, and all the boys at the The U Part 2 premiere on Twitter makes me sick to my stomach. Butch wants to coach the canes and yet we're stuck with Al Folden through 2019!

It's a travesty of epic proportions! It'll feel even worse after we watch the documentary on Saturday!

Is it just me, or does Miami do a lot more JUCO recruiting than it used to?

Jaquan earns his scholly this weekend by getting Irvin to sign and be an EE with him.

Go Canes

That would be awesome!!!

Man, after watching the preview for The U part 2, I wish we were playing Florida in a bowl game. At least I would have something to look forward too!

It's a must when U lack depth and the ability to RS kids so they can sit and learn first.

30CINCO

Todd Mcshay's latest draft board has Flowers ranked 17th overall.

Perryman is also slotted in the 1st round in a few mock drafts.

2 first rounders from a 6-6 team? Ugh...........

Talent evaluations & player development pieces are there.

Putting those pieces together to formulate a winning team is not , which makes the past season so damn frustrating.

I would say that evaluation/recruitment and development are sporadic. The staff apparently CAN do these things, but are not doing them reliably.

There's a reason for that the past few years, regarding recruitment. Whether U want to believe in the cloud or not, it hurt recruiting. Badly. If there were no cloud, we would've landed a lot more talent.

UMike

Ohio.. we still would of lost. We lose to teams with way less talent that us. I know we lost out on some recruits due to the NCAA mess, but we are more talented than the teams we lose to even with those loses.

Go Canes

They are doing it. They are finding talent and developing it. The draft shows that. They are also playing very well to downright spectacular at times

The problem is they aren't doing it when it matters most, at crucial monents of winnable games.

That's coaching. And that part was sorely lacking this season.

UMike

I think we have more wasted talent than developed talent. Guys like DP and Duke were gonna be stars no matter what. I think Pierre is a good example of development and there are some, but imo we have more cases of wasted talent (Chick) then we do developed talent.

I'm not talking about games. I'm talking recruiting, which is what dj was talking about as well.

UMike

I think the teams play on the field and win-loss record will open the door for more negative recruiting then the could did lol

Ohio_Cane

I'll give U Duke, but Denzel? Really? That man was developed. He was a 3* who was ranked the 25th best OUTSIDE LB in the country. Now he's the #1 or #2 LB in the country.

UMike

Ohio.. DP was vastly underrated as a recruit, no way he should of been a 3-Star. Kid was ballin since he was a freshman. He flourished despite Golden, D'No and that lame scheme, not because of them lol

Go Canes

It can't be both ways IMO. You can't take a raging dumpster fire, like this program was four years ago, supposedly put 10 guys in the draft, then say more is not being developed.

Some guys peak early, some guys stay flat, others were going to blow up and others develop.

That happens at every program.

WWIN

^^^^^^^ Denzel was good his freshman year! And he's actually just doing what he's been doing since his freshman year, hitting people hard!

Ohio_Cane

Something has to be going on with CB Marcus Lewis. He announced a top 3 of Miami, Kentucky, and Washington State....

He's got big time offers, too. Clem, UGA, FSU, UF, OSU, Baylor, Mich, Mich St, etc

30CINCO

Like some have said, we have the second most players receiving draft grades, prime example of players being developed at a high rate (relative to everyone else).

We didnt have a top 5 rated recruiting class in 2011/2012 (which is where majority of this draft class is from) ,yet we have more guys being looked at than everyone except 1 team. Some would call that doing more with less, and at a higher percentage rate than some of the top coaches, like those who did have top 5 recruiting classes in 2011/2012.

UMike

Think of all the 4-5 start guys that either left the program or never developed into anything more than a reliable player (in college)...

Ray Ray Armstrong
Dyron Dye
Jermaine Johnson
Jamal Reid
Luther Robinson
Olivier Vernon
Malcolm Bunche
Eduardo Clements
Storm Johnson
Anthony Chickillo
Jalen Grimble
Jelani Hamilton
Tracy Howard
Raphael Kirby

Theres tons.... so IMO we have had more talent wasted with this staff than developed. JMO

UMike

People want to say how we have this many getting looked at, or this many getting drafted etc... those same people were the ones saying we didnt have any talent cause the cloud lol

30CINCO

What are the requirements to be considered a developed or wasted talent?

UMike

30... I guess we can go back and forth on that all day, I would assume that varies from person to person.

Ohio_Cane

Mike, I'm not going to take the time to pick that list apart, but I'll just say that some of those were out of the staff's control as a reason they didn't develop. There's a reason some of them are flaming out of the NFL, too.

Go Canes

Some of those guys only played a handful of games under this staff.

Go Canes

He really does care!!! Whew!!!!

Flowers is going the Phins first Rd

UpNorthCane27

Denzel "The Prezident" Perryman to my Pats in the first round also.

UMike

I agree not all on the list were staffs fault, but I still think this staff has had more wasted talent that developed. Guys like Chick getting worse since their freshman year, a 5-Star in Howard who doesnt even start. A 4-Star in Carter who got "beat out" by a walk-on etc. Again, jmo.

Go Canes

Posted by: UMike | December 12, 2014 at 10:15 AM

Well when you consider the 10 supposed draft grade players four years ago were true freshmen or year or high school seniors and two years ago were true sophomores and juniors, it basically proves that fact to be correct.

I haven't seen anyone saying we've lacked talent this season. Pretty much everyone is saying we grossly underachieved.

They do need line help and will be drafting around Flower's current projected pick so it could happen.

Would Phins fans support a Winston on their team?

Rashawn Scott in yellow (limited) jersey and was catching passes

Susan Miller Degnan ‏@smillerdegnan 11s12 seconds ago

Herb Waters was at practice with neck brace. He was NOT practicing

Ale Narciso ‏@Ale_Narciso1 1h1 hour ago

Deon Bush is back wearing a black jersey, good sign

A healthy, older, matured Rashawn Scott will help Kaaya next year A LOT. From all the camp reports from the summer, they had a good connection early on before his injury.

UMike

If Scott can stay healthy he is a real talent

Winston to Phins would be a huge upgrade over Tannehill but I think Miami's night life would keep him in the wrong spotlight
