Angel Rodriguez scored 24 points and Miami shot 67 percent after halftime to upset No. 4 Duke 90-74 on Tuesday night, snapping the Blue Devils' 41-game home winning streak.
Manu Lecomte had a career-high 23 points for the Hurricanes (12-4, 2-1 Atlantic Coast Conference), who dominated the final 20 minutes with their pesky defense and attacking dribble penetration that the Blue Devils just couldn't defend.
Trailing 35-34 at the break, Miami shot 18-for-27 after halftime and hit 6 of 9 3-pointers - a stunningly one-sided show starring a team that lost by 28 points at home to Eastern Kentucky on Dec. 19.
Duke (14-2, 2-2) hadn't lost at Cameron Indoor Stadium since March 2012 and hadn't lost consecutive regular-season games since February 2009. But much like Sunday's loss at against North Carolina State, the Blue Devils were unable to slow a hot-shooting team nor keep up at their own offensive end.
Team Notes
* With the win over Duke, Miami snapped the Blue Devils’ 41-game home winning streak. The Blue Devils’ 41-game home winning streak was the longest home winning streak in the NCAAcoming into tonight’s game.
* Miami also snapped Duke’s 19-game ACC home game winning streak.
* Miami’s win over Duke marked its second win on the road over a Top 10 opponent. Earlier this season, Miami defeated then No. 8/7 Florida.
* According to the Associated Press, Duke’s loss to unranked Miami, marked just the seventh home loss the Blue Devils had sustained in the last 242 games against unranked teams.
* The Hurricanes win over No. 4 Duke was the highest ranked opponent Miami had defeated on the road since its 73-71 win over No. 2 Connecticut.
* Miami’s 90 points against Duke were a season high. The Hurricanes’ 56 second-half points were the most points Miami has scored in one half of play all year.
Player Notes
* Angel Rodriguez scored a game-high 24 points on 8-of-15 shooting. He fell just one point shy of his career-best point total of 25 points, which he set earlier this year against. Virginia.
* Rodriguez scored in double figures for the 13th time this season and the fifth-consecutive game.
* Rodriguez also scored20-or-more points for the third time this season.
* Manu Lecomte finishedwith a career-high 23 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the field.
* Lecomte finished in double figures for the ninth time this season.
* Sheldon McClellan also scored in double figures as he finished with 14 points. McClellan has scored in double figures in 13 straight games. He has scored in double figures in 14 games this season.
* Tonye Jekiri finished the game with a team-high 10 rebounds. Jekiri has pulled down 10-or-more rebounds in eight games this season, including the last three games.

You cant knock a man down for being optimstic. For all the years i have read this blog, many have predicted a 10-2, 12-0 season with no basis to back up that record.

Once you're six season deep into SoA, you have to watch 7. But I was disappointed. It didn't have nearly the quality of final season that, say, Breaking Bad did.

I am curious, my fellow CANESPACERS. Who is this Admiral person and where did he come from? Since, everyone at the top supports Golden, why would they touch anymore who has guts and is an independent thinker? Love this, but have been too disappointed in the past to believe that any "real improvements" will be made.
Great BB game against Duke. That Angel CANE kind of reminds me of "sugar shake CANE" LARKIN.

The instant retroactive protective policy changes are absolutely true. Manny Navarro got hoodwinked by Blake James, which led to the release of this:

I have a question.
Has an administration ever taken such steps as these: the censorship of students, the retroactive policy changes, outright mistruths to the media...
... all to somehow protect and deflect from the image of a head coach of a another sport?
Can you imagine how hard it's going to be censoring the anti-Golden chants, signs, banners, t-shirts, and websites once the season starts?
I have a couple ideas why Golden is still employed.
1. The administration has taken to sheer spitefulness for the revelations of its own ineptitude.
2. Al Golden truly has something on the school or Shalala in particular, probably connected to another Shapiro-esque NCAA case, and has threatened to speak out if he is terminated.
3. #2, but connected to a lawsuit in connection with his contract.

Well my dear moonbat, you should never assume malice where standard incompetence will suffice instead as to the reason why with anything, so by that maxim;
Blake James is an incompetent lying puppet and the BOT/outgoing President/current coach of the 5-7 football team are all worthless at their respective responsibilities surrounding that sport.
Love that Miami's worst AD found a way to hire 1/4 of the shitiest eight currently employed coaches in college football in the nation. Oh and he can report what some Ponzi liar's ass tastes like to boot, so that's something that he can hi-light on his resume when he's fired in a year from his escape hatch landing spot he's currently bilking a paycheck out of.

It's just weird, though. These people seem to be SO incompetent it's impossible even to figure out what their motivations might be; their decisions at this points have just stopped making any sense.
Al isn't even doing a good imitation of a football coach who gives a damn anymore. I mean, blowing off any end-of-year press conference? And who allows the rumor to just hang out there, like a fart in a car, that some of the assistants will be fired once we've got the recruits all signed? That's not just incompetence; that's him ASKING you to fire him.
And yet the people with the authority to do so apparently bungled the contract negotiation SO badly that they simply can't bring themselves to do it. It's staggering. Neither of the parties wants this to go on, but somehow they're too incompetent to make it stop.

I just read this and literally laughed out loud. He REALLY believes in himself, even if NO ONE else does. Gotta give him that lol
" But the 2016 and 2017 classes ... they will have the best facilities ever afforded Miami Hurricanes and have absolutely no ramifications of the NCAA case. Zero. So they see the world a lot differently than recruits and parents that lived through the 28-month investigation... We've also been working like dogs on the 2016 class. That's the SWAG 16 class, as they like to call themselves, and they are a really fun group to be around. They love the challenge of bringing The U back. That 2016 group will have the best infrastructure and support of any Miami Hurricane team in history. From the Schwartz Center to Sun Life Stadium, everything in the master plan will be in place by 2016..." - Al Golden

Corn Elder was on the scout team before the Duke game. He's not on the squad any longer?
BTW, to much data space on this site is focused on the messed up football program. I hope we get some more interest in the basketball team. It's a shame that the 3 penny videos don't dedicate more time to Coach L. His approach to motivation and his staffs genuine competence would be extremely interesting to see from the inside.
