Ten former Miami Hurricanes are set to compete in four of the nation’s premier senior All-Star games throughout the month of January as they prepare for the 2015 NFL Draft.
Former Hurricane linebacker Thurston Armbrister and quarterback Ryan Williams will open senior bowl season on Saturday as they compete in the 2014 Medal of Honor Bowl. Both Armbrister and Williams will play on the National Team roster, which will be coached by former NFL coach Chan Gailey. Armbrister will wear No. 53 and Williams will wear No. 11 – the same number he wore at Miami.
The game is set to kickoff at 2:30 p.m. EST at Johnson Hagood Stadium on the campus of The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. The game will be nationally televised on NBC Sports.
On Jan. 17, former defensive lineman Olsen Pierre will serve as the Hurricanes lone representative in the 2015 NFLPA Bowl and will wear No. 91. The game will be held in Carson, Calif., on the campus of California State University Dominguez Hills. Kickoff is set to begin at 4 p.m. EST and will air live on ESPN2. In addition, fans also can watch team practices on Jan. 14 and 15 on WatchESPN.
Pierre will play on the American Team, which will be coached by former NFL head coach Mike Holmgren.
Former Hurricanes Anthony Chickillo, Jonathan Feliciano and Shane McDermott will take center stage in the 90th East-West Shrine game on Jan. 17. The game will be held at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla. and will be aired live on NFL Network.
Chickillo, Feliciano and McDermott will all compete on the East Team. Chickillo will wear No. 95, Feliciano will wear No. 76 and McDermott will wear No. 62 - the same number he wore during his career at Miami. Former NFL coach Mike Singletary will coach the East Team.
Four former Miami players will conclude the senior all-star season as Phillip Dorsett, Ladarius Gunter, Denzel Perryman and Clive Walford will take part in the 2015 Reese’s Senior Bowl on Jan. 24 in Mobile, Ala. The game will be aired on NFL Network.

Good Morning all, Happy 2015....great NFL action this weekend.....title game Monday. Wish we were in it .....survey says When will UM win 6th title? Any answers?

Good luck and safe game for these guys....not sure if or when any of our kids go in the draft, but I hope all get drafted or get their chance. Good kids, best to all of them and any endeavor they undertake in life.

Everytime I read 'Go Canes' and his ridiculous 10-2 prediction for next year I get excited, and then I realize we have the same coaching staff that brought us to 6-7 last year! Reality sucks
Posted by: Aerocane | January 10, 2015 at 09:36 AM
I very seldom post but I'm a hurricane fan since 1979. My thoughts on the canes is this. The coaches have improved a little, but they don't have that Hurricane killer instinct. Be aggressive on both sides of the ball is the key. If you scared to lose please leave our hurricanes, please. Fans we complain so much and always talking about the past that we fell to see those days are gone. Go to a game and stop complaining. Coaches just be aggressive and stop waiting for the other team. Get rid of that 3-4 defense. Its not working but if you stick with it blitz your asses off and man up.

Yea but at least we are losing 10 players to the NFL.

Looking forward to these Big Boy games....I really like Seattle. Known Russell Wilson since he was 13 we scrimmaged them...he went private school. He is a great guy.....know his parents.....you just love his character, attitude, approach to game.....just a great guy and player....leader. I love their D....of course Kam Chancellor, my buddy. He went to Maury HS in Norfolk...got to know him Jr year....was quite a qb in HS....I can proudly say I helped recruit him to VT so Coach Beamer owes me one......LOL! Kam is a bad dude....he is a beast on D an enforcer. I have a ball signed by their starting D....courtesy of my boy...and some cool Seattle gear....my fav....all black hat! They play D right....the best....I do my D much like them.....I have a little more dynamic O....2 beast backs and a big TE.....3 burners. I do love their D big time.....Sherm does yap....nut he is so smart....so good and has calmed down a lot.

Even with the program falling down around us it was still great to see another cane fan rocking their colors here in Montgomery, Al. Cruising 85 throwing up the U and screw that roll tide! It is and always will be about the U no matter how up or down I stand with the U even if not always the administration or coaches

Exactly. Now there will be room for the true leaders to emerge, and take over the Unity Council. Those NFL-bound players were probably just Energy Vampires, threatening the team's Volition.
Sigh. I'm not going to be able to watch 2015 unless I take up drinking again.

I do not know how many of these guys are true NFL talent....I cannot say 10 will make it....I think Perryman can be really good...if he learns coverage...duke can be a spark for someone not an every down back...but good...Dorsett could be the sleeper....heck all of them can make a roster.....Sad that they never developed even more, but thats what happens when you have a coach and staff who cannot recruit, coach, develop major talent and guide them to the NFL. Its just the facts!!!! Our kids are not getting the input as our coach and staff are incompetent.

Will definitely be checking for the MOHB today, and the rest of the games throughout the month. Thanks SOUP.

Also, they need to start letting Jrs. play in these All-Star games.
Posted by: CaneRock | January 10, 2015 at 10:24 AM
Heard Al is pissed and is going to show us all up next year. The majority of us will be eating crow.
Also heard he went to Dallas to see if Jerry would pay off some refs to help add some Ws next season. []_[]

So it takes pissing off the fanbase to finally win. It's a good thing Miami fans really hate Al then.

I am going with a 10-4 record and winning ACC Coastal and Bowl Game. Anything more than that is a bonus for me, anything less would be a disappointment for me. Go Canes!

Aside from enthusiasm, is there anything that would lead you to predict so many wins?

The unknown variable is Brad Kayaa. This is the biggest factor for 2016. Does he make a big leap from Year 1 to Year 2 (like Ken Dorsey did), or is their only gradual improvement. If the former, then 10 wins is possible. If the latter, then we should expect more of the same.
Posted by: TonyCane | January 10, 2015 at 11:33 AM
Biggest factor for 2015, I mean.
Posted by: TonyCane | January 10, 2015 at 11:34 AM
I do not make predictions; been at this game too long to know too much can go too wrong too many times to go on silly numbers. I go like this preparation, first week, Jamboree, scrimmages and practice...games 1-8 1 at a time....then see if we make the playoffs. Now we are 94-3 and 6 of last SBs...so I hope we make the playoffs....I have about 90% of my kids back...so we will see. I car more about my guys than UM.....its so much closer to my heart. UM....hard to say what we will do.

Moonbat that is my standard that I have for our Canes until we can consistently show we can get to that level when that happens again then I can get on the now 15% bus(formerly 12% bus).

T Sully,
nothing wrong with hoping.....hope we will see a change of some type. We must get better; time will tell.

They're gonna need to change up the offensive philosophy. Nothing a defense can do will equalize the talent of a QB like the offense as it is now.

Can u imagine the sideways glances the players were giving eachother the first time Al told em about the unity council! Are they a bunch of 4th graders playing Star Trek? Unity Council lolol

Really WWIM... It's NOT about buying out anyone, so money is no object. They LOVE Al and his roomy! This season was just an anomaly.
I agree with 1mg of Epi's assessment, we're getting to bowl games... No need for any buyouts!
BJ is seeing our program heading in the right direction!
(Apparently BJ likes REVERSE.) LOL

Posted by: roachcane77 | January 10, 2015 at 03:46 PM
Records are meaningless. At 9-4 we were irrelevant. We are still irrelevant. That hasn't changed. But thank god for the U documentaries!
