There's a whole lot of people claiming to know what's going on -- or not going on -- behind the scenes, and to know the motivations of the decision makers.
But we don't know.
We don't know whether the Board of Trustees is doing its due diligence to rid The Dude of this meddlesome coach.
We don't know whether they're actually laughing at all of us poor mopes while they cash their huge ACC TV contract checks.
We don't know who they are considering to take Shalala's place, and what that person has to do with the decision if any.
I do know that it seems really, really weird the blanket of silence that's going on, and the lack of even a statement concerning the future of various assistants, much less any firings.
Until a) somebody gets fired, or b) a statement comes out saying everybody is coming back, I am assuming that the situation remains in flux.
If I were to hazard a guess, I would say that relations between Al and Blake are not currently as simpatico as Blake's public statements would suggest.
Blake is probably feeling some non-zero amount of heat demanding change, and Blake being the consummate stooge, would love to be able to deliver.
Whatever we're waiting on, it'll happen soon.
It may be good, it may be bad, but there will at the very worst (from my standpoint) be an announcement saying the whole staff is coming back.
Until then, I remain cautiously optimistic.
Because I don't know what's going on, but it sure doesn't seem like the kind of situation that the "Powers That Be" actually want to keep on festering.
Hes about to pick fellas!! LETS GO TIM ITS ALL ABOUT THE U BABY ITS A FAMIILY THING!!!!

Damnnn well that sucks
Posted by: UpNorthCane27 | January 03, 2015 at 03:05 PM
Possibly CaneRock. There is a risk that he may allow the Aggies a window of opportunity to expand their Texas recruiting base. But Strong does not have the relations yet with Texas HS coaches that he does with FL coaches, so why not take advantage of it?
My UT friend is convinced Irvin goes to the Longhorns. We will see.
Posted by: TonyCane | January 03, 2015 at 03:07 PM
Well there's still that NE pipeline.
Posted by: The Dude | January 03, 2015 at 03:07 PM
Golden sucks. He can't recruit for crap. Kaaya is our recruiting guru. So out with Coley too!
Posted by: BEERicane | January 03, 2015 at 03:07 PM
Hi-Concussion rate? Stop it CaneRock, enuff already!

But the flood gates were open...
Posted by: The Dude | January 03, 2015 at 03:09 PM
I wouldn't worry about losing TI too much, like I said, getting Him & JJ would've been redundant...they're the same type of player to me. But you still wanna stack talent though...
Posted by: CaneRock | January 03, 2015 at 03:11 PM
This may have had less to do with Golden and more to do with his teammates being offered, if my friend is correct.
Posted by: TonyCane | January 03, 2015 at 03:13 PM
We need every little piece of talent possible to overcome a crap coach. Missing on anyone is a failure at this point.
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | January 03, 2015 at 03:15 PM
If I were a recruit, I would get my homies to join me in commuting to Florida early and publicly, then switching on NSD. Nothing would be sweeter than that.
Posted by: BEERicane | January 03, 2015 at 03:16 PM
Will this hurt with Michael Irving Jr? I hope not.

Is Golden Gone Yet????
Posted by: RCCF | January 03, 2015 at 03:17 PM

Posted by: BEERicane | January 03, 2015 at 03:18 PM
@doncmleon: Irvin family is assembling on the side. They're with Jaquan Johnson family. They want MIAMI clearly!

I don't even get excited about recruiting anymore.
Recruiting for us is equivalent to wood going into a wood chipper!
Posted by: WWIN | January 03, 2015 at 03:36 PM
Golden will be the canes coach in 2015. Let's put down the pitchforks and hope for the best in asst coaching changes and in recruiting over the next month.

From a poster on CIS:
"The Failures of Al Golden...
Below are the 19 four/five star recruits located within 50 miles of Miami for this class. As you can clearly see, Miami are getting their butts kicked in our own backyard.
It's unacceptable. It means we not only suck today, but we're going to suck 3 years from now too. It's great to be a Miami Hurricane (sarcasm on).
Calvin Ridley - Alabama
Tavadus McFadden - FSU
Shawn Burgess Becker - Alabama
Mark Walton - Miami
Devonaire Clarington - Not Coming
Da'Vante Phillips - FSU
Torrance Gibson - Ohio State
Jordan Scarlett - Miami
Jaquan Johnson - Miami
Tyrek Cole - West Virginia
Sh'Mar Kilby Lane - Florida State
Jovon Durante - West Virginia
Kendrell McFadden - West Virginia
Tim Irvin - Not Coming
DaVante Davis - Not Coming
Jordan Crokrite - Not Coming
Calvin Brewton - Florida State
Davante Peete - Not Coming
Antonio Callaway - Not Coming
We only have THREE guys on that list committed. FSU, Alabama, even West Virginia are kicking our butts recruiting IN SOUTH FLORIDA.
We should be getting 90% of these guys. This is a joke and more damning evidence of how bad Al Golden and company suck. SMH."
Posted by: CaneRock | January 03, 2015 at 03:42 PM
Good news is FLORIDA has a lot of talent still left. Bad news is we gonna need some Hail Mary tactics to close strong.

But I kinda remember him but not by that nickname. I definitely remember Pickens, I remember when he came to the WR Graveyard with the Titans and they buried his @$$

Suggesting we should be getting 90% of those kids is a massive stretch.
25% or more of them won't qualify or have issues that stopped us from recruiting them.
Ohio knows more than me which of the rest we actively recruited.
We should be getting 6-7, three is definitely too low.
But give me a break with the 15-17 out of 19.

Getting a third of the elite local talent is the right number? To be supplemented with cherry-picked NJ/PA coal-shovelers? That sounds like the way to Deserve Victory, for sure. Not to win, of course -- but to deserve to win.
Posted by: dj moonbat | January 03, 2015 at 04:11 PM
LMAO! @ "wont qualify". Maybe for SOME kids, but if you can get into UF,FSU, or WVU, you can get into UM! Miss me with that snobby @$$ "wont qualify" BULL$H!T!
Posted by: CaneRock | January 03, 2015 at 04:12 PM
Al is a loser so who wants to come and go 6 and 7 every year... get Butch and we can turn this thing around in 2 years...and Butch recruits the heck out of south florida on the d side of the ball...
