There's a whole lot of people claiming to know what's going on -- or not going on -- behind the scenes, and to know the motivations of the decision makers.
But we don't know.
We don't know whether the Board of Trustees is doing its due diligence to rid The Dude of this meddlesome coach.
We don't know whether they're actually laughing at all of us poor mopes while they cash their huge ACC TV contract checks.
We don't know who they are considering to take Shalala's place, and what that person has to do with the decision if any.
I do know that it seems really, really weird the blanket of silence that's going on, and the lack of even a statement concerning the future of various assistants, much less any firings.
Until a) somebody gets fired, or b) a statement comes out saying everybody is coming back, I am assuming that the situation remains in flux.
If I were to hazard a guess, I would say that relations between Al and Blake are not currently as simpatico as Blake's public statements would suggest.
Blake is probably feeling some non-zero amount of heat demanding change, and Blake being the consummate stooge, would love to be able to deliver.
Whatever we're waiting on, it'll happen soon.
It may be good, it may be bad, but there will at the very worst (from my standpoint) be an announcement saying the whole staff is coming back.
Until then, I remain cautiously optimistic.
Because I don't know what's going on, but it sure doesn't seem like the kind of situation that the "Powers That Be" actually want to keep on festering.
What's good Legion/Canespace; long time no post. The Administration appears to be stuck between a rock and a hard place. What do you do? Do you stick with Golden for another year because he stayed the course during the Shapiro scandal, (while also alienating your fan base and sacrificing this year's recruiting class); or do you do what is best for the long term of the program and let Golden go now. If, Jim Haubaugh can come back to Michigan and bring hope and prosperity for that program; so can Butch Davis return to the U! Happy New Year Legion/Canespace.

All of a sudden, it's a scary moment and not a "can't wait until another Irvin announces for UM". Will be holding my breath.
Not so much on Cager. Just not that into him as a player, especially considering it's been reported he's had more concussions than Josh Witt.

THE "U" MADE THEM ALL TOP GUNS, BECAUSE OF THE NOTORIETY OF THE U. THE U GAVE THEM THE PLACE TO SHINE WITH SCHOLARSHIPS ETC. SURE, THE U OWES THEM THEIR DUE. BUT,
THEY ACHIEVED THEIR GREATNESS AT THE U. AND THEY SHOULD GIVE BACK WHEN THEIR SCHOOL IS IN A DESPERATE WAY.

Yeah, Cager is a plan C kid.

Do we really need 3 RB in one class? Seems like two good ones is plenty in a class.

Irvin's dad thinks Miami...Canes are not confident right now, a lot of people are telling them it's Texas...Texas was not confident earlier today either so who knows

Cager's size could and should add some much needed help with our redzone offense.

Got to love recruiting:
@JGJr9: Clarington gonna have a Miami hat on the table despite not being a recruited and more than likely heading JUCO.

The school does not owe Al one thing as a result of the Shapiro scandal. Al played that card last January when he made a run at the PSU job. I always thought it was BS anyways when Al said he didn't know the scandal was brewing when he took the job. I knew about it, how on earth did his agent not know what was going on? They played Eichorst like a fiddle!

So many of these guys are aware of the futility and frustration, despair and stagnation at UM among players, alumni, parents, former star players, and fans....from the January 2003 Fiesta Fiasco til now via the Clappy, Onionhead, and AlPa regimes. Countless recruits have scorned and spurned UM and past glory because so many programs have surpassed us into the void we left long ago. While you want the kids to come, you have to see why they don't. ....the program has reached new lows under AlPa Golden. The brand once simply known universally by the helmet has been shamed and tarnished by this regime, and there is only one solution left for this bunch of blind false prophets:TERMINATION NOW FIRE THEM ALL!

I'm reading online that Golden and admin are at odds about firing D'no. What the hell??
Posted by: Surfercane | January 03, 2015 at 01:36 PM
Ether Golden
FIRE HIM AND ALL THAT LOVE OR SEE GOOD IN HIM...
Posted by: RCCF | January 03, 2015 at 01:56 PM
^^^^^^^ why fire D'no???? Everybody's getting fired next year anyways! What's bringing in a new DC for a year gonna do???
Plus you can't fire D'no without firing other coaches, when the defense was the most improved unit and special teams was the WORST!

Posted by: CaneRock | January 03, 2015 at 02:01 PM
Fire the lot of them, they have had plenty of time to get it straight....all these supposed incredible classes, the process, the promises, the knowledge passed on from Joe Perv.....lies, falsehoods, dreams, myths, .....is Bullshit. They need to go now they are pathetic, they just do not know jackshit about this game......no matter how much F. Lee GoPa defends them....they are horrible and the program has hit bottom....irrelevant?.....can you say Social Joke? I hear the death knell for UM ....I hear the Executioners Song playing for AlPa!

I'm wondering if Strong is burning bridges with the Texas kids, by recruiting all these Fla kids...

Firing the head coach? What is wrong with you people? This program just finished with a 5-7 record against non-FCS programs? What happened to your senses of perspective?
5:30, UVA/UM, Corn Elder, please report to the scorers table . . .

They should force Al to fire dno because we lost games in the fourth q because our d could not stop the run. How many points does the o need to have to win games? We should win games scoring 10 to 20 points.
If we played the old style d we could force their team to be one dimensional. But with this d at different parts of the game are schizoid.. we stop the run for most of the games and then we give up big runs or we get run through when the game is on the line. If Al doesnt want to fire Dno then just resign.... period.

Glad we got Cager, more worried about Irvin. Hope Cager reports of concussion issues aren't true or at least not as bad as reported.
