Looking back at each signing classes under Golden, the first two were wrecked by very early departures or failures to qualify. TWENTY ONE of the fifty two players that committed in 2011 and 2012 were off the team within two seasons, and an additional three failed to qualify. The majority came from the 2012 class. It's part of the reason that our roster level was depleted.
2011:
Failed to qualify:2 (Grooms, Kinard)
Left after one year: 1
Left after two years: 4 (Grimble, Finnie, Johnson, Paul) *not counting Botts
2012:
Failed to qualify:1 (Jean-Louis)
Left after one year: 10 (Briscoe, Carter, Davis, Dewey, Dillard, Ivery, Terry, Thompson, Witt, Lockhart)
Left after two years: 4 (Blue, Dortch, Hoilett, Hope)
2013:
Failed to qualify:3 (Bond, Lockley, Griffith)
Left after one year: 2 (Olsen, Sandland)
Left after two years: 1 (Lewis)
2014:
Failed to qualify: none
Left after one year: 1 (Hester)
Correct me if I am wrong but I am counting just 72 scholarship players for the Hurricanes in their opening game against Louisville (71 recruits, one transfer). In addition, 2 of them did not play in 2014 due to injury and suspension, and a third player transferred less than two weeks later.
I knew that we were under the scholarship limit, I had no idea that we were that far under the limit. And roughly 16 were redshirted. Were we really that low in overall depth?
Like choice of Beard. Dread JetroPa Bodine going to Oakland as we are bad enough.
Our DL plays so far off the ball and is so passive small and weak that him leaving will make no difference at all as our DL was a non factor. No DL was developed. We are better off without a coach there than JethroPa. But heck....DnoPa can coach them!

Miami Hurricanes get an early start on spring football
Most of the Hurricanes’ spring football practices this year will come before the first day of spring.
UM’s spring — or more accurately, winter — practices will open Feb. 21. Last year, they began two weeks later. Twelve practices and two scrimmages will be held at 9 a.m. on specified dates at Greentree Practice Fields.
Because Sun Life Stadium is undergoing a renovation, the location of UM’s March 28 spring game is still to be determined. One option UM is considering is 20,450-seat Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.

This would end the chances of a UM stadium at the Tropical Park, not that this was ever going to be a truly realistic option.
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | February 10, 2015 at 09:09 AM
This was almost an option, but FIU didn't wanna share a stadium with UM.

Wonder who they will make National Recruiting Coord to replace Carroll. Should it be a current member or a new guy?
Posted by: 30CINCO | February 10, 2015 at 02:09 PM
"If KB was hired prior to last year’s signing class they probably would have had a good shot with Ermon Lane, Chris Lammons [South Carolina] and Travis Rudolph [now at Florida State] because Beard had great relationships with those kids."

For the past year, Beard said he served as "the bridge between the players and coaches" at UM.
Seeing how last season ended, we needed him to be at least 12 feet tall to brigde that gap.

My experience tells me there is a real lack of leadership; fingerprints of it are all over the program since 2003. This is a lost ship drifting at sea. Until someone mighty steps to the front to captain the ship it will continue to do so. Hope for a better 2015 is all I can tell you; glad my program is at the top and will always be there. See, we love winning; losing is a horrible fate that is easy to slip into and easier to make excuses for the losing.
Re-read the recruiting article with those coaches, and then think about what VA Cane has said over the years. The guys who coach kids know the mindset, not the people who think that processes and books recruit kids and win titles.

Bob must have seen the future of situations, he knew the conman was on the way....applies to UM football....and other leaders of a more serious nature......IJS

@CanesInSight: 2016 in-state linebacker lands "dream offer" from UM: In recent years, Miami Hurricanes fans… http://t.co/VRtlgn5zDn

"Simmons has a couple offers from the likes of Maryland, Cincinnati, Bowling Green, and others, but on Tuesday he was offered by the 'Canes and finally received his "dream offer.""
Compared to those schools, thank god Miami is still a dream offer.
Question.... Is it a concern that we are offering players whose only other offers are these schools?

T-Sulli,
Im pumped for baseball to be starting this Friday. I wish spring ball would just pass by with out me knowing about it. It has just become a bitterly painful part of the year for me. It is either filled with complete disappointment of injured players or horrible QB #s in the spring game, or it has filled me with false hope for the season. I think this spring will be a false hope spring.

Ill see you at some game next year. Not sure which ones I can make yet, but I tend to find a way to get to a few. Im hoping Miami will play at Syracuse some time while Im stationed in NY. Ill probably make a drive or two to Boston for the BC games.
