Another National Signing Day (NSD) is just around the corner and just like the opening ceremony at the Olympic Games every few years you never know quite what to expect. However, we can be almost certain that head games, hat games, misdirection plays, double switches and some dirty dealing and double crossing are definitely on the agenda.
The only thing that is clear is that at some designated time in the early morning hours of Wednesday, February 4, 2015 the NCAA will declare NSD open for business at college campuses all around the Nation with what basically amounts to a loud proclamation of: "Let the Games begin!"
Fax machines will begin to whir as they spring to life with what is the life blood of any college football team: A National Letter of Intent (NOI) from high school seniors and JUCO players across the Country.
Both coaches and fans alike will alternately cheer and curse as the news of who signs where comes out in rapid-fire succession as each NOI is received and formally approved by the compliance departments at each school. Spontaneous celebrations of joy will break out and a few cell phones will probably be smashed in mad desperation about the one that got away.
To follow the fast-paced action, of course you can tune into Canespace as our recruiting gurus will be on hand all day to report each official "Welcome to The U!" as it is announced.
Congrats to all the new Canes!
#welcometotheu

Way to steal my thunder Sarasota, LOL!!! I guess I should of read all the post before I posted!
In all joking aside, Dude, do you have a lot of stress in your life right now? I had the same thing around 6 years ago for about 4 months. It felt that there was something stuck, right below the adam's apple. I believe mine was just stress due to my wedding coming up. It was a fine and dandy when all the wedding shyt was over.

Posted by: thirstybuzzardcane | February 04, 2015 at 09:26 AM
This is all a result of the losing season. Golden's one strength is supposed to be recruiting........it's not a happy morning so far. Let's see!

Bama has 18 ESPN 300 recruits.....the rich get richer.
Canes currently have 6.
Posted by: raizecane | February 04, 2015 at 09:32 AM
Oh dear Lord. Is this really today?
But on a better note, today is my wife's 30th birthday.
Even she (who isn't a sports fan at all) saw the U Part 2 and said that she thought Butch Davis would be great for them.
But above all... oust Shalala immediately, put James and his comical rhetoric on the chopping block...
...then effing fire Al Golden TODAY. I won't be watching football period (and haven't a down since Virginia) until Al's gone.
Oh, and Spacers?
In all seriousness: don't pull a Joe Rose or creepy Laz and get angry at high school kids (who may or may not pan out anywhere) who had an ounce of clarity and decided to run like hell from Al.
Be thankful we get anyone at all.

We signed the best RB & Safety in the 305
Posted by: UMike | February 04, 2015 at 09:49 AM
According to Rivals Miami is 5th in the ACC... 6th if you count ND. But hey, we're 3rd in the coastal!
Posted by: UMike | February 04, 2015 at 08:19 AM
This is the fans' fault. If we hadn't kept pointing out that UM kept losing Coastal games to opponents with less talent, Al wouldn't have had to recruit a class with talent weak enough to justify those losses.
Such bad fans.

UM enters National Signing Day on Wednesday waiting for answers from at least 12 players, including one soft Canes oral commitment (receiver Terrell Chatman), two defensive tackles (one from Jacksonville, one from L.A.), a three-star defensive end from Michigan (Joshua Alabi) that UM is trying to flip from Ohio State; four-star Tallahassee "athlete" D'Anfernee McGriff (down to UM and UF, according to Canesport) and two local players they pursued late: three-star Killian cornerback Sheldrick Redwine and two-star Booker T. Washington linebacker James King, an FAU oral commitment. (See Manny’s blog for a list of what time most of these players will announce on Wednesday.)
It’s disappointing, but not surprising, that UM, as of this hour, has only one committed defensive tackle, Ryan Fines, who analysts regard as a longterm backup.
But it’s both disappointing and surprising that UM enters NSD with no cornerback commitments from South Florida, considering how deep and strong the position was in Dade/Broward high schools this past season.
Consider:
### Five-star American Heritage prospect Tarvarus McFadden, rated the nation’s No. 2 corner by Rivals.com, is FSU-bound and bemoaned to The Herald early last year that UM didn’t initially pursue him. “They don’t ever contact me,” he said a year ago. UM subsequently offered, but it was too late.
### Auburn is reportedly the favorite for four-star Norland cornerback Carlton Davis, a former Ohio State oral commit. Miami was never able to make inroads with Davis, rated the nation’s No. 17 cornerback.
### Miramar’s Tyrek Cole, the No. 18 cornerback, opted for West Virginia over Miami and others largely because his former high-school coach, Damon Cogdell, is now on the Mountaineers’ staff.
### Booker T. Washington’s DaVante Davis, the nation’s No. 24 safety who can also play cornerback, is Texas-bound partly because he wanted to leave town for college.
### Westminster Christian’s Tim Irvin, the No. 29 safety who also can play cornerback, has enrolled at Auburn and never felt a deep connection with the Miami staff, according to an associate.
### St. Thomas’ Rashard Causey, the No. 42 cornerback, opted for UCF over offers from UM and others.
### St. Thomas’ Damon Arnette, the No. 51 cornerback, is committed to Ohio State. Miami never made an offer.
### UM made a late run at Carol City cornerback three-star Rashad Fenton, but it was too late. He’s considering UF, Lousiville and South Carolina.
### UM never offered Northwestern’s DeAndre Baker, the No. 72 cornerback according to Rivals. He’s committed to Georgia.
Perhaps UM will snag Redwine, the No. 62-rated cornerback who grew up a Canes fan. He’s a soft Louisville commitment.
UM has only one oral commitment at cornerback as of this hour: four-star Alabama based prospect Michael Jackson, rated the nation’s 31st-best cornerback by Rivals. By all indications, he's a good get. But you would have expected more considering how many good cornerbacks there are in this area.

Canezitis, we basically agree. The failures of this class and the continued failure of having a loser head coach are entirely on James and Shalala's hands. They created this mess and failed to fix it when the solution was obvious. At least one will be gone in a couple of months, and I'm hopeful this decision causes James to lose his job as well.

WR Lawrence Cager in

Whew! I was worried about this one. Cager looks like he's probably the best of the WRs that UM had a realistic shot at.
