Miami’s offense compiled its most explosive output in over a decade, and the Hurricanes completed a four-game sweep of visiting Rutgers with a resounding 25-4 victory in the series finale Sunday.
Miami (4-0) scored its most runs since May 2, 2003, when the Hurricanes beat Pace 27-1 at Mark Light Field. The resounding win capped off the Hurricanes’ first four-game sweep since they beat Savannah State in four straight – also in 2003.
“It was a great game for us" said UM head coach Jim Morris. "We played well – in particular, we swung the bat [well]. Sometimes there were a few weeks where we didn’t score 25 runs combined these last few years. I think the [new] ball makes a difference, but I think our guys are stronger too.”
Twelve different Hurricanes recorded hits, eight players recorded multi-RBI games, and the hosts pounded out a 12-run fourth inning to jump out to an 18-4 advantage. Sporting a more-than-comfortable lead by the middle innings, Miami tacked on four runs in the sixth, two more in the seventh and added a solo home run from freshman Malik Rosier in the eighth to surpass the 20-run mark for the first time since 2009.
Junior David Thompson connected on Miami’s first home run of the season, a three-run blast in the game-turning fourth when the Hurricanes sent 16 batters to the plate. Thompson recorded all four of his RBI in the inning, having added a sacrifice fly in his first at bat of the frame.
“It felt good to get the first home run of the season. I got a good pitch to hit and put a pretty good swing on it,” Thompson said. “But our whole lineup, everyone swung the bat well today. [The sweep] was a great way to start off our season.”
Eusebio opened the game’s scoring in the second, cracking a bases-clearing double off Rutgers starter Gaby Rosa (0-1) to give Miami a 3-0 lead. The hosts tagged Rosa for seven runs (five earned), chasing him after just 3.0 innings.
“There were two outs, and I was trying to get a good pitch and put a good swing on the ball,” Eusebio said of the hit. “After that, things took off. It’s contagious.” Morris called the hit the “biggest” of the day, after Miami had nearly squandered a prime opportunity with runners in scoring position.
Making his first start of the season, sophomore left-hander Danny Garcia allowed three hits and three earned runs in 3.0 innings of work. Miami’s bullpen allowed just four hits the rest of the way, as senior Daniel Briggi and freshman Andy Honiotes made the first career appearances.
But the story Sunday was Miami’s offense, which came up with 21 hits against the Scarlet Knights (0-4). Garrett Kennedy, who finished with three doubles, was one of seven Hurricanes to connect for at least one extra-base hit.
Rosier recorded his first career hit on a two-RBI single in the sixth, while freshman Peter Crocitto added his first career hit on a single in the eighth. Junior George Iskenderian finished 4-for-4 with two RBI and three runs, while slugger Zack Collins went 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Don't tell him that. We are all idiots for having opinions contrary to his. Of course, call him one and he cries to management.

Tsully, look at it like this...
If Golden was coaching you to get a woman and he's trying to get you to get a date with Beyonce, now matter how much heart, will, and how much you try it ain't happening! Now if Golden changes his scheme, to say a Hooters girl, you got a chance. So who's fault will it be if you can't get that Date with Beyonce, yours, his, or both?
Point is, players have to be put into position to be successful.

A night with Beyonce, yes. A date, no way.

How did we arrive to this "will to win" discussion? Was it the DB2 tweet about the closed practice? If that's the case, then NO, that wasn't the reason we went 6-7.

7pm tomorrow night, another huge game at the BUC vs. VTech, a team that the U, on paper, should easily defeat, which we know what that meant so far this season. The game is huge, with the U now at .500 in the ACC and really not able to lose any more games that it shouldn't. The U has two games left vs. V Tech, one vs. FSU, one vs. Pitt, and two against ranked ACC teams in Louisville and UNC. My guess is 4 wins gets a big maybe, at 20-13 and a 10-8 ACC record, but with a bunch of bad losses, although there's still the ACC tnmt. to potentially impress or implode. I'd think 4 wins and at least one win in the ACC tnmt. increases the odds a lot of a bid, or 5 wins likely makes it a definite, as it would include having to beat at least one more ranked team without any more bad losses. Probably this is all just wishful thinking, but it's the way it is. Simply not blowing one of those bad conference losses, like G Tech or WFU, would have helped the odds a whole lot.

Does playing 12 yards off the ball, on 3rd & 9, show a lack of will to win?
Does having LBs 8 yards off the ball, in 3rd & short situations, show a lack of will to win?
Does having a DT covering a scat-back, show a lack of will to win?
How can ya'll tell if a player has a lack of will to win?
But Golden's bigger problem is controlling MORALE.
MORALE controls EVERYTHING...the WHO...the HOW...and the WHAT.
WHO =s PERSONNEL
HOW =s FUNDAMENTALS/TECHNIQUES
WHAT =s SCHEME
What we have are actually facts, not opinions.
Great points CaneRock....thanks for the shout to Fundamentals and scheme....
Everybody wants to win.....but a great leader of men leads his men to those waters....he loves his players...but drives them, motivates them daily, scares them, pushes them...makes them look inside themselves and teaches/develops in them how to recognize and overcome the barriers and fears that stand between them and winning....its like a seed or an infant....its there; you grow it....in all 85 guys as a group...they grow into winning intertwined with each other, as a group...TEAM...together they overcome the barriers....and that will and desire to win explodes...thats how I do it....Machiavelli posed the question is it better to be loved or feared...his answer was both.....you nurture that winning seed through love and fear....and you live and breathe it first....deeply so they see it in you...they learn it live it believe it....with a deep passion.
Dude, I do not always like Cowherd....he can be arrogant....and opinionated....but often is on point. Great point about Shark and Urban....wanting to win obsessed with winning....awesome story and one we must adhere to....wanting to fucking WIN!!
Lombardi....“Gentlemen, we will chase perfection, and we will chase it relentlessly, knowing all the while we can never attain it. But along the way, we shall catch excellence.”
"Winning isnt everything; wanting to win is the only thing."
How can that not move you...my process if you will is based on what i said above....and Lombardi ideas, and fundamentals, teaching developing aggressive football....TEAM....Championships!!!!! I live it breathe it teach my guys the time honored tradition of winning being champions!!!
My guys here it everyday....we have to win...in Life Family School Football in that order. You hear those words of Lombardi, put in the time, play fundamental aggressive football in dynamic schemes as a TEAM....and see the growth as a TEAM...and dominate people like we do....I mean we are psycho aggressive hitters...Assassins playing that Apocalypse Now football...sharks smelling blood going into a hitting frenzy....wow!!! you want to win and win all the time. We do it as a everyday habit...we chase perfection each day....and catch excellence as a team one play at a time. It is a high no drug can give you!!!!! I love the high; it never gets old or boring!!!
Yes 1 mg we state facts....but people do not want uncensored facts....they hurt deep because they ring true.
I am tired of 11 years of bridesmaid, also ran, mediocrity. I want to win and I expect AlPa and co to change step up and start winning or move aside.
I wish they felt as passionate as me and my kids do; I just want to win as much as possible, its what I live for. I love my guys and how we win!!!!!
Thanks CR, 1 mg and Dude....great points!

Dude, the new Glock 42 (.380) is a really small pistol, but nice on the price compared to other Glocks. $319. Love it!

Depends what you're using it for.
Just playing around shooting in the yard/range all the time? Yeah, go 9mm just because ammo is cheaper.
Conceal carry? This is a perfect gun for conceal carry and will put down any attacker just like the 9 will.

Dude - I do like my .380 and at the time the KelTec made the smallesr so its easy to hide. So easy, I accidently carried into a game one day (not good) because i forgot i had it on me.
My next purchase is going to the the Glock 27 which uses a .40 caliber.

A lot of people dismiss the .380 and I think they're wrong to do so. However there is a valid argument to be made that for only slightly more weight, you get the velocity of a 9. For me the PF9 will be a conceal carry gun. The thing I like about it are the factory extended magazines. When it comes to size of the pistol, I'm more concerned about barrel length than grip size (that's what she said?). I really like the Ruger SR9c also, same reason. Oh yeah, the smaller Glocks don't have light rails and I will probably use this gun at night.

That's fair, and I wouldn't begrudge anyone wanting a 9 over a .380. Just happen to be a big fan on this particular .380 Glock came out with.
I've been a proponent of Glock for years now. Ever since I got to see a demonstration live from one of the Sheriffs here. He dipped a loaded Glock 17 into water, pulled it out, shot it. Dipped into ketchup, pulled it out, shot it. Dipped into dirt, pulled it out, shot it. Dipped into sand, pulled it out, shot it.
I was amazed. Not one jam.

Glocks are very reliable, like an AK in some regards. I would buy a 19, not so sure about a 17. If only they made a 17 with 19 sized grips. The grip on a 17 is too small and rigid.

Regardless, nice clutch win by the U over V Tech at home, putting in a great second half (47-26) on the way to a 76-52 win. Huge win in a must win game. Lots of other big ACC matchups tonight, with Syracuse taking down Louisville, FSU down early at home vs. BC, and Duke with the early lead over UNC.

Norris Cole is traded to the Pelicans from the Heat in exchange for John Salmons, the ex-Cane. Nice to see another Cane coming back to play in Miami. Looks like he's there to provide some depth more than anything, while the Heat picked up a point guard today, making Cole expendable.
