Lot of civility on here today; i think we can all live with civility. I will express what I think, and though it may be different, that will be it.

I just want to have a breakout successful year; we are due. Seems like the boys are working hard; it has to start somewhere. Keep at it young men, you can do it!!!!!

Richmond UM should be a good game; Richmond is pretty good...pretty even match for each other.

Glad we can all get along; we just have to always remember that we must respect each other, and remember the golden rule: Love thy neighbor as thyself!!!

Can't argue with that. I'd add avoid the "I told you so" posts as well, and live in the moment. Hopefully the moments in the future are more fun for all of us.

JCane

Richmond came from behind to beat ASU, a team with a season similar to ours. ASU beat Arizona and played tough against some really good teams, but lost some games to teams they shouldn't have (ie Lehigh)...including last night to Richmond in the second half and blowing some shots down the stretch that should have sealed it. Richmond is a tough team and will obviously have the home court advantage. The U coming through and getting to MSG would be huge going into next year. The ACC has done pretty well in the NCAA tnmt, although UVa definitely picked the wrong time of season to hit a low stretch (ie ACC and NCAA tnmts).

I'm so pleased to see the board continue. Thx to Soup for all of these years, and to Ohio for being willing to take the baton. As for what happened to the blog, the clear key was if you hate the coach, hate the BOT, want to blame things on race, or whatever, can we say it respectfully, only once and not beat the verbal crap out of anyone who doesn't agree?

Carry on.

Coach Al Golden surprised us all by letting us watch what was originally supposed to be a closed scrimmage Saturday.

It was the second scrimmage of spring, with the final one -- the spring game -- free and open to the public at noon next Saturday, March 28, at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.

On a super hot and sunny day (surprise!) at Greentree Field, the Canes' offense and defense had their good and sometimes not-so-good moments.

Like Golden told us after the scrimmage, "There's no way to win as the head coach. It's just a question of watching guys getting great matchups.''

Thus, for every great play on someone's part, someone else on the other side missed making one.

Starting quarterback Brad Kaaya had an admirable effort considering he has been pretty sick with the flu all week, and still sounded kind of lousy and sickish when he spoke to us this afternoon.

Second-team quarterback Malik Rosier continues to look better and better. He runs an offense that is quicker-paced and takes advantage of his mobility and elusiveness. He can use his feet or his hands, and he throws a nice ball. He's very easy to like, as is Kaaya. Both guys are reflective and direct in answering our questions. Both are nice guys and have a nice touch on the field. Please keep in mind that UM's second-team defense is not nearly as good as its first-team defense.

Kaaya completed 12 of 19 passes for 140 yards -- a 71-yard chunk of that going to tailback Joe Yearby on a screen play.

Rosier, who stayed behind in Coral Gables instead of traveling with the baseball team to Wake Forest for an ACC road trip, took advantage of his opportunities. Rosier completed 5 of 10 passes for 151 yards and two touchdowns. Rosier's last two passes were TD passes to Malcolm Lewis. The first was for 26 yards and the last, for 45 yards.

"I'm kind of missing baseball,'' Rosier said, "but at the same time I'm keeping up. I heard DT [David Thompson] hit a two-run homer or a home run last night, which was great (actually, two home runs, including a grand slam), so I'm keeping up with the guys, but yeah, kind of a blessing in disguise being here and getting more time in with the ones.''

Rosier said he knew he needed to stay behind because of Kaaya's flu this past week. "When Coach [James] Coley called me and said that Brad was out, it was clear that he needed me here to run the offense 'cause it's nothing against Vinny, but he just transferred from Texas Tech so the playbook's still difficult. Vinny's getting there, but yeah, Coach Coley needed me here, which actually paid off for me in the long run.''

Together, the QBs completed 17 of 29 passes for 291 yards and three touchdowns.

Lewis had a nice day, catching four passes for 89 yards and the two scores -- 15 yards, 3 yards and the two TDs.

Gus Edwards got the first carry of the scrimmage and ended with 16 carries for 85 yards.

Yearby is looking really good these days, though we expect him to put on more meat as the months pass. He ran seven times for 34 yards and a 16-yard touchdown on the scrimmage's second series, led by Rosier. His touchdown was the 71-yarder, with the defense trying its best to catch him, but to no avail.

Newcomer Vincent Testaverde, a walk-on transfer from Texas Tech, took part in two series. He threw two passes, both incompletions. But just before the scrimmage began, in 9-on-9 drills, threw a beauty of a deep pass to D'Mauri Jones near the left sideline.

Also of note: rising sophomore wide receiver Braxton Berrios made two great plays in this scrimmage before getting hurt in his midsection, apparently his ribs. Berrios' first catch was on a 56-yard screen pass from Rosier. He gracefully zigged and zagged around defenders on that one. Two plays later, Yearby rushed for his touchdown.

I don't know the inner workings of the blog ,if it because of guys being to harsh on what they are saying , one warning then they are done , is it a blog where you can offer an opinion? , is it a blog where you can talk about sports other than the canes on slow times, is it a blog where you can have debated opinions and not insult each other ?

Demons

Thanks for the blog ,much appreciated , if you are leaving can we have one of the guys take it over I saw where a few people say let OHIO CANE run it I am down for that, if not thanks mr soup.

VA Cane

I guess we all have let our guard down and hit send before we hit think!

I know I have and I own it. I have tried to put forth ideas from my experiences on and off the field; mainly from coaching and directed at what I think is right and may work for our beloved Canes. That does not make me God or right; sorry if it appears that way. Thats me not any of you.

We had great weather here so we been putting in the time; fundamentals first as always, but I have put in some more Oregon style spread and pace; the kids love it. We do all our basic work, then drills then work on O and D. My thing this year will be teaching the ability to go from pro set to spread to wishbone to I to T....mixing it up and in the hurry. Sounds hard...it is...much to my pleasure the guys are getting it down. We have missed some formations, but rarely fumble or jump offside!

Lot of skill people this year....we are going to be very very good. I am really up for the fall; we start now!!!!

ASU and Richmond went to OT before the 1 seed, the Spiders, finally took care of business. We'll see the 1 vs 2 (UM) in a NIT quarterfinal on Tues.

As for U football, if the 2016 class mostly sticks, this coaching staff could end up considered anywhere from vastly improved to legendary (although it would take a few years after to know whether that word would apply) by learning from its past recruiting mistakes. Hope it happens.

Terrance Sullivan

KYCANE thank U for posting this Brotha. For us that love all the teams at UM it's a pleasure to follow them and see the great times and the bad times and the emotional rollercoaster of being a fan of UM program. It's great to be a Miami Hurricane.

I'm going to keep coming here as long as I can, but I love being in denial. I've been a Cane since childhood, prior to going to school there for 8 years.

The U still awaits the outcome between 1 and 5 seeds Richmond and ASU to see who they get in the NIT quarterfinal on Tues. So far, it's not clear. 7:40 left in that game, and the lower seed ASU is up by 3.

The Debate Team still pisses excellence

Oh yeah, there was a football scrimmage yesterday.

For those fans of UM sports, there are a ton of young athletes putting it on the line every day. Support them all.

SOUP & Spacers...my sincere apologies for the thoughtless & insensitive remarks I made the other day.

Things I like about Da'Space:

I LIKE coming on here and reading about VACane coaching His kids.

I LIKE coming on here and reading that UMike got His dream job.

I LIKE coming on here and reading about SOUP's different endeavors (Orchids,RE,writing,etc..).

I LIKE coming on here and giving WWIM $h!t about that dude that wouldn't even take Tony Parker to the hole in last year's NBAFs.

I LIKE coming on here and finding UM has fans in some of the most unexpected regions in the Country (Utah,Montana).

And I can go on & on...so as you can see, CS is bigger than UM sports to me...not just some place to have a pissin' contest to see who the biggest fan is.

Again, my sincere apologies for the thoughtless & insensitive remarks I made the other day.

One.

It looks like this is truly it, Soup. Sorry to see it end, but no posts for almost a whole weekend day would seem to say that's the way it.

As for the U, the lady Canes made it a game most of the way before giving way in the last 1/4 or so of the game and losing by 18 to the #3 seed Iowa Hawkeyes. Coach KM is solid and looks to keep the U competitive over the years.

Again, if done, thx again for all over the years. It has been my favorite and only U website.

This STILL blows....

I'm gonna keep on posting as long ya let me.

Yearby, Berrios, and Carter seem to be the top performers. Another day Kaaya got better.

Weird not seeing Duke and DP, makes for an exciting season as looking for replacement of fav current Canes to go along with Kaaya.
