Yes Sir VA Cane.

Terrance Sullivan

Here is a question for U my fellow Spacer's would U rather be in the NIT Final Four playing in NYC or be a first round exit like Indiana from the NCAA. Give me the NIT Final Four in MSG in NYC. Go Canes!

Class act. I love it when guys are like this in sports. Tony Gwynn, Roger Federer, John Wooden, etc.

This is a tough question...

On one hand (NIT), we get to see our Canes play deeper into the year if they make the Final 4.

On the other hand, as another poster said, the winner of the NIT is thought to be the 65th (or 69th) best team in the country, so even a 1st round exit in that light seems better.

Yep, tougher question for me. I'll still take the NCAA's, it just means more IMO.

Agreed. Would have loved to have gone to the dance, but a first round exit is bleh. Final four in an NIT seems like more of an accomplishment than a first-round first game NCAA exit.

Really nice post. Thank you. Stuff like this is why I lurk. I haven't seen insight like this from the papers. I appreciate it.

Well done Sir, very well done.

Dude on a Pale Horse

Miami is better than 65th if they win the NIT. Many teams in the big dance are automatic bids that some NIT teams are obviously better than.

Ohio_Cane

UK is STOMPING WVU. My goodness are they fantastic.

Dude on a Pale Horse

I'd rather win a few NIT games than get bounced round one, although the program's goal is to go back to the tourney. I think a good run in the NIT is better for recruiting than just making the tourney. Miami has a lot going for them as a basketball school. There's just not the kind of talent in S. FL for basketball like there is in football.

Ohio_Cane

44-18 at half in case you're not watching UK vs WVU.

When you can't go around, through, or over em', but they can do all 3 to you, it's over, fuhgetaboutit.

Dude on a Pale Horse

My bracket has them winning it all, we'll see.

Dan Tana

Yeah, dont underestimate how important this NIT run is. It is very important for a team where hopefully everyone is returning.

JCane

Thx for the nice thoughts, Lurker. If only my auto spell could get won vs "one." I love breaking these things down, as if it means much to more than just a few geek types like I am anyway.

UKy is more than good, and WVU clearly needs some of the last two initials of UKy to get through this game. Clearly, this isn't the typical tournament where there are a few teams considered even for winning it all. UKy would have to totally meltdown or have some big injuries, in all likelihood. Duke is playing pretty well, but I'm not sure anyone is ready to stay within 2 buckets of the Wildcats for a whole game.

I'm not going to worry about whether I'd rather see the U make the NCAA or the NIT, as it doesn't really matter since we didn't get a say. Just want to see them play well and win, wherever they are. There is absolutely no way that the NIT champ is truly 65th or 69th, btw. When you remove all of the conference tie-ins and automatic bids, it's probably more like 40-55 somewhere. Still, winning a tournament against solid competition as a way to finish the season never hurts, and this squad is coming back. Looking forward to the 3/31 matchup vs. Temple. The other semi looks similar, with a big established school vs. a mid-level, also (Stanford vs. ODU).

Dude on a Pale Horse

You gotta shoot to beat Kentucky. Maybe a team like ND can knock them off.

CaneRock

You gotta shoot to beat Kentucky.
Posted by: The Dude | March 26, 2015 at 11:44 PM

Yup. The closer to the rim you get, the taller they get. A team is gonna have to shoot 60%/+ from 15 feet out to beat em'.

Ohio_Cane

Auguste from ND will be silent when they play UK

Dude on a Pale Horse

Posted by: CaneRock | March 26, 2015 at 11:49 PM

Exactly. I think they're beatable by a team that can shoot and play perimeter D. You can't hope to beat them if you drive the lane or let them get the ball to their big guys. You won't out-rebound them either. They could go undefeated, but they aren't an alltime great team, especially in terms of guard play. Kentucky plays big and they are aggressive in transition. If someone beats them it's because like you said, the other team shot around 60% from the field and D'd up their guards.

VfB_Cane

Good morning everybody.

I don't think this has been posted yet:
http://www.si.com/nfl/2015/03/24/2015-nfl-draft-q-a-phillip-dorsett-miami-hurricanes

It's time for a new generation of Canes to leave their mark at the next level. If drafted by the right team, Dorsett can certainly match what Allen Hurns did as a rookie.

Hurricanes carry each other to Saturday’s spring game

CORAL GABLES — Last year’s team was a bit fractured. That much was clear by their play on the field, the varying levels of effort that was shown in the 0-4 slide to end the season. Returning players this spring have spoken often about unity and having each other’s backs.

Miami’s Al Golden finds his QB in Georgia

Miami coach Al Golden feels really good about the gamble the Hurricanes took last month in Georgia.

One day after signing day, Miami both offered and signed Evan Shirreffs, an intriguing quarterback prospect out of Jefferson High School.

The 6-foot-6, 200-pounder held off on signing with smaller colleges such as Georgetown, Old Dominion and Eastern Michigan with the hope that a scholarship would open up after signing day at Miami. Shirreffs felt good about his chances after taking an official visit with the Hurricanes a few weeks earlier.

After reading that NCAA article, I'm surprised that they have never thought about waiving their own rulres and paying a high school recruit top dollar to be an undercover informant of recruiting violations.

You think they'd take down damn near the entire $EC on top of being hypocrites who shoot themselves in the foot...naaaaaah LMAO!

I'm paraphrasing here, but what was that saying..."When Kentucky breaks the rules, punish & demonize Jim Boeheim."
