86 and KYCANE it was a blast to watch our Canes play FSU and UNC as part of the Four Play this season. Love supporting our Canes basketball team.

Go Canes! You did punish Duke this year with a total new team...

2016 will be our year... Show your big heart!

I never understood why the NCAA didn't punish OSU like it did USC. They should have stripped them of the 2002 title.
Posted by: Dude on a Pale Horse | April 07, 2015 at 01:38 AM
Looking at the pictures above, I come to the conclusion that it is possible to build a winner wearing a white shirt & orange tie.
The last football season had me seriously doubting that LOL
Congrats Coach L!

We beat the ncaa champs this year convincingly , it was early but it still counts.
Posted by: Demons | April 07, 2015 at 08:32 AM
Nothing against the players from Wisconsin , but glad the team lost because of their hair brained coach
Posted by: Demons | April 07, 2015 at 08:33 AM
Those two Duke guards were off the charts last night everything they threw up went in , glad to see Decker come back down to earth the way they were building him up , you thought he was the next coming, Allen was running rings all over him .ACC , glad the big 10 or what ever they call them selves lost.

Calais Campbell shoots hoops with President at White House

We are a basketball school!
(on the other hand, a headline along the lines "Calais Campbell's violent tackle puts President down at White House" wouldn't look so good)

Miami beats Duke, Duke wins NC. That doesn't look right considering we were in the NIT...

You gonna be around Wednesday afternoon? We can grab some wings or maybe one of those Carribean pulled pork rice bowls @ the Hurricane Grill.
Got a meeting at 11 & then at 2. If I finish my day in Indiantown, I could meet you around 5-5:30 before I head south.

Can't do it on tomorrow.....I'll be down in Palm Beach all day. I'm going to give my info to 86 so you'll have it. Dinner time is bad for me because I have to pick my 4 year old up from school/daycare at 5, so lunch time is the best for me.
Posted by: thirstybuzzardcane | April 07, 2015 at 09:55 AM
IDK, but I think this team is gonna need an impact freshman performance to win 9-10 games. I know Duke was good for 2 wins His freshman season...Mark Walton?
Posted by: CaneRock | April 07, 2015 at 10:05 AM
CR...I would think we need an impact sophomore when you look at the D prospects from the 2014 class...
Chad Thomas
Mike Smith
Trent Harris
D. Jackson
Calvin Heurtelou
Courtel Jenkins
Anthony Moten
Michael Wyche
Terry McCray
Darrion Owens
Juwon Young
That is a lot of talent, the majority either 4/5 star kids or kids that should of been. I would hope we are past the point if needed to count on a freshman for a couple wins.
Posted by: UMike | April 07, 2015 at 10:11 AM
I think Feldman's right. 9 wins minimum, must win Coastal. No Coastal, no job. No need to dwell on it or beat it to death, or wish the coaches and team do poorly. Very matter of fact. It's a metric that must be met. Having said that, it's counterproductive to dwell on the negative going forward. We all know what's at stake, and if we fall short, then the right decision will be made at an appropriate time. Time to support the team.
Posted by: Lurker | April 07, 2015 at 10:12 AM
Lurker,..I will always support my Canes and I agree with what you say, but I am not so sure he would get fired if he won 9 games and not the Coastal. Even if we win 9 games, it would not convince me Golden is the guy long term unless he does an about-face on a few things. That said, still supporting and hoping we win a lot of games.
Posted by: UMike | April 07, 2015 at 10:19 AM
I'm with Feldman on this. Anything less will not be tolerated. One of the reasons that nothing happened this year is that the administration is in transition to a new administration. It's customary to let the new president and his people make the big decisions, especially when it comes to athletics.
But, I prefer to remain optimistic rather than miserable. It's a choice.
Posted by: Lurker | April 07, 2015 at 10:36 AM
I think its been Coastal or bust for a few years now and the admin hasn't flinched. It may have to do with his contract extension and buyout also, but Im not convinced the admin or AD etc have a coastal or bust attitude like we do.
Posted by: UMike | April 07, 2015 at 10:53 AM
I would hope we are past the point if needed to count on a freshman for a couple wins.
Posted by: UMike | April 07, 2015 at 10:11 AM
UMike...even FSU needed Cook to pull out a few wins last season. Frankly, I don't see the offense as is winning 9-10 games, that's where a kid like Walton comes in.
Posted by: CaneRock | April 07, 2015 at 10:54 AM
Also, I think Coley has that change the scoreboard, or flip the field ability. Hopefully what He's done in the Spring, carries over into the Fall.
Posted by: CaneRock | April 07, 2015 at 10:57 AM
CR, I get what your saying...although I dont think we have a freshman as talented as Cook coming in, although Walton is a legit baller.
Losing Clive and Duke will hurt the offense, BUT, we have enough talent there with the right play calls to win games imo.
Posted by: UMike | April 07, 2015 at 10:57 AM
Feldman doesn't set the standard for UM football, Al Golden does. IMO, 9 wins is MEETING expectations, it's time to EXCEED expectations...10 WINS OR BETTER!

I think its been Coastal or bust for a few years now and the admin hasn't flinched.
Seriously? Golden has only been here a few years. Again, it's a choice to adopt a miserable approach.
I'm optimistic. Golden will either get the job done, or he won't. But either way, the hurricanes will be good, very good again and and not too far off in the future
Posted by: Lurker | April 07, 2015 at 11:11 AM
Lurker, wtf are you talking about dude? A miserable approach? THIS is the type of comment that sets stuff off around here and then us haters get the blame. Do you try to be a dick on purpose, or is that just natural for you? Who is being miserable...just stating some opinions, NON of which are miserable, SMDH.
We have not expected a Coastal title the last few years? Im not saying he wont win the Coastal, all Im saying is IF he doesnt, Im no sold it will cost him his job...unless he finishes 7-6 or something.
Posted by: UMike | April 07, 2015 at 11:18 AM
NONE*
Posted by: UMike | April 07, 2015 at 11:18 AM
What's "negative" or "miserable" about saying player/coaching performance is critical to winning a lotta games? That's what the discussion between me & UMike was about.
Posted by: CaneRock | April 07, 2015 at 11:18 AM
If we go 9-3 and just miss out on the Coastal, but win a bowl game, do you think he would be fired? IMO he wouldnt.
Posted by: UMike | April 07, 2015 at 11:20 AM
CR...all I said was I dont think the admin sees it as "Coastal or bust" like we do...IM not sold he will be fired simply based on not winning the Coastal. Guess that makes you miserable around here lol
Posted by: UMike | April 07, 2015 at 11:21 AM
CR, if the offense plays aggressive and actually uses the array of talent it has it is good enough. Unless Im mistaken, we are not playing powerhouse defenses lol...Some times last year it seems the offense simply played not to lose. A lot depends on the OL, but we have the talent there imo
Posted by: UMike | April 07, 2015 at 11:25 AM
10-2.
Duke, Flowers, Chik and Dorsett are replaceable.
Denzel and Clive not so much.
But we have enough talent to be in and win every tough game
4th quarter execution will decide our season again this year.
Posted by: Go Canes | April 07, 2015 at 11:43 AM
^^^ thanks UMike for telling it like it is.
Posted by: Dude on a Pale Horse | April 07, 2015 at 11:45 AM
UMike...I think the defense will be better...from what I've heard & seen, it looks like we're getting away from that 2 gap, frog stance, and patty cake crap we've been playing the last 2 years. And I acutally like what Melvin brings to the table.
OL?...it's a work in progress, but like you say, there's talents there...I expect Kehoe to do His thing.
Posted by: CaneRock | April 07, 2015 at 11:46 AM
Posted by: Go Canes | April 07, 2015 at 11:43 AM
You're right. There's definitely the talent for 10-2, but I contend we did last year also and the NFL agrees. I don't think AG will make any significant changes either. That's why AG has little support if any left. We'll see what happens but I don't think 10-2 is gonna happen. Who do you think the 2 are? 9-3 w/o the Coastal but with a win over FSU is probably progress.
Posted by: Dude on a Pale Horse | April 07, 2015 at 11:51 AM
Kehoe will find a way to be at least solid. There may be 1 or 2 games with issues, but OL won't cost Miami wins. Imo.
Posted by: Dude on a Pale Horse | April 07, 2015 at 11:53 AM
9-3 w/o the Coastal but with a win over FSU is probably progress.
Posted by: The Dude | April 07, 2015 at 11:51 AM
True.
Posted by: CaneRock | April 07, 2015 at 11:53 AM
Go Canes...I agree with most of what you said, I think we CAN go 10-2, but I think 8-4 or 9-3 is more likely. I also disagree that Duke is replaceable.... at least not this season.
Posted by: UMike | April 07, 2015 at 12:04 PM
CR...I agree....I've also read about the changes on the D side of the ball with an emphasis on being more aggressive. This is the first sign Ive seen from Golden that he is capable of making changes rather then being stubborn and thinking he knows best. That is a good thing.
With the players we have those changes could go a long way.
Posted by: UMike | April 07, 2015 at 12:09 PM
Grace will replace Perryman fine. It won't be the same but will still be impressive. Where he lacks the ability to punish people and jar the ball lose, he should be more of a problem for QBs in that he can cover better and he gets sideline to sideline faster. It's like Vilma replacing Morgan. Not the same player, but nonetheless great in their own way.
Posted by: Dude on a Pale Horse | April 07, 2015 at 12:14 PM
AQM would make a difference regardless of scheme. He gets to the QB effectively and there's no doubt Miami missed him last year. This is probably his last year at Miami.
Posted by: Dude on a Pale Horse | April 07, 2015 at 12:15 PM
Dude...I wouldnt go that far with this being his last year, but he sure does bring some needed talent. He is he type of aggressive DE we need

TD...AQM needs another year. Despite His weight gain, He still looks light in the @$$...and He's still more of a one trick pony.
Posted by: CaneRock | April 07, 2015 at 12:30 PM
Yeah, but that one trick is the second or third most sought after
trick in the NFL.
Posted by: Dude on a Pale Horse | April 07, 2015 at 12:31 PM
He's already being noticed. Talent like his does't hide.
Posted by: Dude on a Pale Horse | April 07, 2015 at 12:37 PM
TD...AQM'S quick no doubt...but as far as the most NFL ready DLmen on the team, I have to say Kamalu.
