Here at Canespace we try to be a full service blog and that is why we offer many free services like travel information, exciting outdoor adventures, event planning and occasionally some serious therapy for our dedicated bloggers.
Today in our first threapy session we tackle the difficult subject of blind spots.
You see in a therapeutic construct "blind spots" are not the areas that you cannot see in your rearview mirrors while driving on South Beach or near a water hole while staring sideways at biking clad hotties crossing the street.
Blind spots in a psychological sense are those things that everyone who knows they can easily see about you that you simply cannot see for yourself. You in effect become "blind" to your own weaknesses, vulnerabilities and the falicies of your own individual dogmatic ideologies.
Some bloggers here at Canespace see themselves as "realists". Yet, in reality they are nothing short of glass-half-empty holding totally dedicated pessimists.
They say things like: "Miami COULD lose to team A, B, C and D", while somehow magically resisting or ingonring the natural urge to say: "Miami COULD win against teams like A, B, C and D.
Yet at Canespace, some bloggers say the same negative nonsense everyday, all day long for 365 days in a row and somehow expect to be embraced with open arms for their incredibly honest and righteous, yet flawed, view of the world.
That is a blind spot.
That is inaccurate and at times even bordering on ignorant.
It serves no purpose whatsoever except to prove your self right when saying:
"I am negative, I am right that we will lose, and when we do, I can say so.
That is simply a sad, sad existence indeed. We suggest that you find a new, better and happier place to be, or maybe choose to be somewhere else?
Uno.

That the Miami Hurricane Football program is unwell is (almost) universally accepted as fact. Therefore the blind spot bias you speak of would be most evident in those who can't acknowledge this fact.
To say that someone who speaks to objectively verifiable truths evidences the blind spot bias is actually the best possible example of said blind spot bias.

CoCane, thanks for your thoughtful analysis late last night about the UM basketball team.
Also, on the bright side, Coach L can now possibly add one or two new recruits.
He definitely needs to win more battles in the recruiting wars if we are going to be more competitive in the ACC (and beyond).
Let's hope for the best.
Thanks, again.

UM TRANSFERS
The University of Miami basketball team suffered a blow to its backcourt on Wednesday when backup guards Manu Lecomte and DeAndre Burnett informed the team they are transferring.
Both were believed to be seeking more playing time than what they likely would have received here.
UM is deep at point guard, with junior Angel Rodriguez and freshman Ja’Quan Newton, and that left Lecomte uncertain how much he would play next season.
Lecomte, who came to UM from Belgium, averaged 7.9 points and 1.8 assists this past season and leaves Miami having played in 71 games and started 40 of them.
Burnett, who redshirted his freshman season with a wrist injury, averaged 7.0 points and 4.2 rebounds in 28 games this past season. His departure is more surprising because he grew up in South Florida and averaged 36 points as a senior at Carol City High. But he wasn't likely to get starter's minutes if he had remained at UM.
UM's backcourt will return Rodriguez and Sheldon McClellan, as well as Newton, swingman Davon Reed and freshman James Palmer. Also, 6-foot-5 forward Anthony Lawrence, a three-star prospect from St. Pete, is enrolling later this year.
UM now has two scholarships that it can fill with high school or junior college players or transfers. Kamari Murphy, a 6-foot- 9 forward from Oklahoma State, also becomes eligible next season.
### Nice job by the UM football players, coaches and staffers on Wednesday in their annual bone-marrow donation drive; 186 people agreed to be donors, bringing the total to an impressive 729 since UM started the initiative.

Perhaps the author of this brief note should LOOK in the MIRROR regarding realistic MYOPIC, FANATICAL, PAROCHIAL views and what not. Because I find it quite odd that taking the NAIVE, GULLIBLE Pollyann-ish perspective makes one a sincere, serious Miami, Florida Hurricane zealot. LOL
Because absolute, objective R-E-A-L-I-T-Y not only PROVES, but indicates that the beloved Golden has fallen SERIOUSLY short of expectations and what not!
Oh. One more thing. Miami has MAJOR losses on BOTH sides of the LOS. So I can't fathom why Cane fan SEE-r's a " 9-3 " season in '15. Seriously bUbba's. LMFAO
Whereas the objective, ASTUTE realist approach of say- TheeMackJones- probably envisions a 7-5 or 8-4 season ( I say 8-4 because I don't what to come off being NEGATIVE! lol ). And that's with ALL the optimal conditions, factors, tangibles and intangibles FAVORING the Hurricanes.
Posted by: TheeMackJones | April 09, 2015 at 12:16 PM
Perhaps the author of the above post should not insult the owner of the blog and what not.
Posted by: Lurker | April 09, 2015 at 12:19 PM
When the game tangibles/intangibles are basically EVEN-STEVEN at the ACC level of college football. COACHING tends to be the trump card time after time after time. And the beloved Golden seems to be still LEARNING after NINE seasons as a head football coach at the FBS level. Just saying. So don't shoot the messenger. LMFAO And that's one MAIN REASON why I say 7-5 or possibly 8-4.
Posted by: TheeMackJones | April 09, 2015 at 12:21 PM
Believe it or not. Nebraska will be a very, very, very, difficult home game for Miami. Simply because that Go Big Red head coach is relatively a BETTER overall head coach than U Know Who. Just saying.

FSU without Winston is FSU with any prior QB they've had.
Jimbo is no genius and won't have the first pick of the draft there to clean up every sloppy or lethargic game they play.

What you say is true. Winstons come along once every decade, if that.
Yes, Jimbo will revert back to the mean, without him. A great recruiter with one or two inexplicable losses every year.
But on my way too early 2915 board (subject to change in August), I have us going 9-3, with a loss in Tallahassee. If we beat FSU up there, that would be a game changer. Assuming we've figured out a way to finish strong.

I think the whole point that SOUP has ever tried to make is that even if Miami goes o-fer next year, it's not the end of the world. Go outside and play, share your experiences here and at least try to foster a positive atmosphere. As I've said before, many of us have been blogging together for a long time here and even back to the SS, so this place has actually evolved past being only a Hurricanes sports blog. For some, it doesn't serve that purpose and they don't just criticize, but disparage. And back and forth personal attacks just won't fly anymore. SOUP isn't just promoting a place to vent, he's trying to promote a lifestyle.

Great walkoff win by the guys on the diamond, and I agree with comments about the transferring guards on the basketball team. Good luck to both, but we are pretty well-stocked at this position, probably have the guys more likely to be getting more playing time going forward which is why they're leaving, and will create space for incoming and new players. Sean Taylor was posthumously honored, more than seven years after the former UM All-American and Washington Redskins Pro Bowl safety was killed by intruders who tried to burglarize his home, and one day after the last of the five men who committed the crime was sentenced. Taylor’s father, Florida City police chief Pedro “Pete” Taylor, represented him at the ceremony.
“Will it be hard? It might be,” Taylor said of receiving his son’s honor. “I think with all these great Hall of Famers tonight, they’ll make it easy for me.”
Taylor received a standing ovation by more than 550 attendees in the ballroom when he was introduced.

I'd take Cooper if I was going to move up:
With the free agent signing of star defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh and trade for wideout Kenny Stills, the Miami Dolphins attacked the offseason.
The aggressive approach may be a sign of things to come as Miami is already reaching out to other clubs in an effort to gauge what it might cost to move into the top 10 this year, NFLDraftScout.com has learned.
With only six picks in 2015, the Dolphins don't have much ammunition. That hasn't stopped the 'Fins from fishing.
The Dolphins appear to be targeting another playmaking wide receiver with West Virginia's Kevin White ranking highest on their board, sources suggest. If it happens, Miami's trade could mimic a similar move as the one division rival Buffalo completed a year ago, jumping up to No. 4 overall to land Sammy Watkins. Whereas the Bills continue to struggle at quarterback, the Dolphins boast a quality young passer in Ryan Tannehill to build around.
Miami's interest in adding more talent to its receiver corps is no surprise. Over the past week, the Dolphins hosted free agents Michael Crabtree (San Francisco 49ers), Greg Jennings (Minnesota Vikings) and Wes Welker (Denver Broncos) after sending former expensive free agent addition Mike Wallace and a seventh round pick this year to the Vikings for a fifth round pick.
White, specifically, is interesting. At 6-foot-3, 215 pounds, he's bigger than Alabama's Amari Cooper and after wowing scouts at the Combine with a 4.35-second showing in the 40-yard dash, he's convinced some that he possesses the most upside of any receiver in the 2015 draft class. It is hard to question that after White exploded for 109 catches for 1,447 yards and 10 scores last season, improving his stock more than any other prospect regardless of position.
In Stills (6-foot, 194 pounds) and steady sophomore Jarvis Landry (5-foot-11, 204), the Dolphins boast two solid pass-catchers already. Neither, however, possesses White's combination of size and speed. Given the potential vulnerability of the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots at cornerback after the losses of 2014 starting cornerbacks Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner, it wouldn't be surprising to see Miami target a wide receiver in the first round - whether the 'Fins stand pat at No. 14 as projected or aggressively move up.

Glory years: the best moments of UM’s 2015 Hall of Fame class
1990: Against Texas Tech, freshman Rusty Medearis racked up 5.5 sacks, 12 tackles and a quarterback pressure as UM recorded a school-record 13 sacks. He was a dominating defensive end for the 1991 national champions and finished his career with 20 sacks in two seasons of play. As good as he was, his comeback is what resonates. Medearis’ knee was badly damaged on a cut block by Arizona’s Hicham El-Mastoub in a Sept. 26, 1992 game. He underwent 13 hours of surgery and countless hours of rehab. He was granted a medical waiver to play as a sixth-year senior in 1994. Medearis made it back for two games before hanging it up. What’s he doing now? Software engineer in Springfield, Mo.
1993: Kevin Patrick, as I wrote about in this story, was the Big East Defensive Player of the Year and an All-American. He and his defensive line teammates played for Medearis. What’s he doing now? Defensive line coach at North Texas.
Both Medearis and Patrick are featured in this highlight tape from a 22-0 win over Nebraska in the 1992 Orange Bowl. Patrick blows up plays at 4:10 and 4:40, while Medearis picks up sacks at 6:10, 7:10 and 7:55.
