Lurker

If pacman wins it will be the biggest upset in boxing history, because I think it's a mismatch. I just don't see any way that pacman wins. He has a puncher's chance, that's it. And I'm not a TMT guy either

The Dude

The staffs record is what it is, no use in talking about it on a blog for fans and by fans, lol. Seems logical to me.

SinisterCane

GO NFL CANEZ

The Dude

I never saw that Demons. He's a fool. If you think tonight's fight is big though, imagine a rematch after a Pacman win. It will break this fight's records. But if Mayweather wins, the rematch will be so so.

Lurker

Not true Demons, just scroll up. Don't make stuff up. It doesn't help things.

Demons

Dude ,mayweather camp banned two ESPN women reporters from the MGM grand ,didn't know if you saw that .

Demons

CR, is right you only post to critique , no original post of your own , and not that opinions are not a good thing it's the salty ways and how it's written that annoys .

Demons

Is it me or did the Raydaars just picked up players from , FSU, UF, and the canes , that coach must think a lot about homegrown talen in FL

The Dude

Boxing needs a Pacman win.

Lurker

I can't agree rock. I understand what you're saying, but there really does exist such a thing as "poisoning the well". Changing the tone of the conversation, in my opinion, does have an effect.

Also, your statement actually can be referred to the other post as well. You'll notice it wasn't a personal attack, it was diplomatic. It was an honest disagreement. That's what posting here is bout here, isn't it? We can disagree, as long as it's nit personal. There's no need to escalate it, though. I said what I had to say.

Oh yeah, and the canes win!!!!!

Let's play another one and win 2!!!!!!!

Go Canes

Wow Chik may go undrafted? Or did I miss him getting picked?

jcane

For anyone paying attention, the U was behind, 5-4, going into the 8th, scored 1 in the 8th, 4 in the 9th, and now has a 9-4 lead over Pitt in the early game.

WWIN

And IIRC, weren't we already out of the ACCC race going into the FSU game? UM was 6-3 going into that game...and GT was 8-2 going into their game against Clemson.

Posted by: CaneRock | May 02, 2015 at 12:17 PM

EXACTLY! We had let downs before the fsu game!

CaneRock

No, discussions go down the drain when you feel the need to critique and label every post. Matter of fact, that makes CS very contentious.

CaneRock

^^^^^^^^^ Good pick BTW.

CaneRock

The Dolphins draft Jay Ajayi, RB from Boise State.

Lurker

Discussions go down the toilet when people start throwing out insults to the coaches. This staff is still on the payroll, so by definition, they're still canes. When they're gone, I don't much care, but they have another year, so to jump on and grind them down makes absolutely no sense to me.

They are who they are, and their record is what it is, I'm just not buying into the jump on game

To each his own, i'm just expressing in the idea that discussions tend to go south when the insults start flying. But maybe that's just me

Dude on a Pale Horse

Both. You watch everything under Strong to get a feel for the players, and they should know what Patrino will bring. They also got hammered by UL in the bowl after Golden was certain his team was ready. They were not ready. I think he's got a bad feel for his team.

TonyCane

Dude...I'm not arguing here, because I really don't know play calling intricacies. However while they had all summer to prepare for Louisville, what do you prepare against? The Cardinals had a new offense going into that game. So what game video do you watch...the previous bowl game or Arkansas? Both?

CaneRock

Feliciano to the Raiders!

Dude on a Pale Horse

Golden lost his team, a cardinal sin. Also, he is garbage with time to prepare, see Louisville.

Terrance Sullivan

Well said Lurker.

Lurker

They definitely weren't a perfect team going in, I don't think anyone would argue that, but they looked like they were developing, and they almost had it. If the game had been 2 1/2 minutes shorter, we'd be having a different conversation.

The team was well-prepared, and all hands were on deck, for this game, as they should've been. So I will give credit, where credit is due. But to be ultimately successful as a coach, you have to finish the job, it's not horseshoes, close is not good enough. Maybe at first when you're developing, but we don't want to be perpetually stuck in a state of "almost good enough"

So the staff will get a last chance to see if they can get over that particular hump, because that's the biggest one. But again, I am not bashing, I think I'm stating the reality of the situation. They've done some things very well but in the end it's all about the results. Major RESULTS and improvement is needed. We shall see

HawaiiCane

Davonte Parker's mom ran her mouth that she is glad he didn't get drafted by the Browns. It should be celebrating his new opportunity, but instead she takes the time to bash another team. She is super classy... not really! Glad she can ride her son's coat tails.

CaneRock

And IIRC, weren't we already out of the ACCC race going into the FSU game? UM was 6-3 going into that game...and GT was 8-2 going into their game against Clemson.

CaneRock

Agreed Lurker. But I will add though, UM wasn't exactly on a roll going into the FSU game. Yes we won 3 straight leading up to that game, but it can be argued that UM should've been 8-1 going into that game...at best.

CaneRock

TMT BABY!

Lurker

I absolutely and totally agree that the demoralizing loss to FSU was the first, and seminal direct cause of the the huge letdown and losses that came later. No doubt in my mind. Everyone has made a good point about that.

In the interest of objectivity, I would add that after such an event it's the leadership's responsibility to marshall their forces and start the processes that assure you can guide the team through the difficult days that come afterward, so they can adapt and move forward to refocus on the rest of the season. The coaches failed in that respect, they were not able to help the players get over it and move on.

All teams will suffer disappointment from time to time. It does happen. As you all know, I'm not a coach basher in the slightest, but if Golden ultimately fails, I think it will be more because of the type of leadership deficit than scheme or anything else. There is a history in his coaching record of teams not "getting up" after setbacks.

I'm not trying to start a controversy, I just wanted to add what I thought was a little balance.

VA Cane

I hate Bonds just for his persona. Without the juice he was a alltime great. Now the lies attitude bullshit about growing up hard....wow. if I pitched I would love to bean that melon head......and hurt him....and never feel bad.

I am sure we have some Floyd Money lovers here. While certainly a great defensive fighter, he is not the best ever as he claims....hard to say who is....many say Ali vs Rocky Marciano would be the ultimate....certainly 2 very elites.
Too many criminals in it for me....Arum and Don King deserve execution....and talk about black exploitation....very bad.
Regarding Money....there are 21 documented calls from his current home for help regarding violence...a serial abuser his son calls him a coward....he is a coward and a loser in life. Hope he is not your God....cause he is false. He may win tonight...but if MP hit and paralyzed him I may cheer. A horrible despicable person who is a great fighter. This fight is a lot of hype over 2 old guys over the hill....Floyd did not really want to fight him in their prime....MP offered to fight it for charity....should have happened 7 years ago....don't really matter now just hype and $.
Jmo...but abuse of women should carry the death penalty. ...totally unacceptable....

OFNC

^^^ The season's most important game is always, ALWAYS!, the next game. If the kids don't know that, and the coaches can't teach them that, then they aren't Canes quality.

TonyCane

I think the big difference in attitude between 2014 and 2000 is that the early season loss was not a season ender. They could still win the Big East and potentially a NC. The FSU loss last year ended Miami's hope of playing for the ACC title. What was there left to play for...the best possible bowl? Rightly or wrongly, it was demoralizing to too many players.

TonyCane

I can't fault Bonds or A Rod for taking steroids, as it increasingly came to be a prerequisite to succeed at the highest level in the 90s (if not earlier). Likewise with the NFL . It's on the leagues and the player unions to have done a better job of legislating its use out.

CaneRock

OF COURSE the Seniors were worried about their draft status, it comes with the territory...it's UM!

Dude on a Pale Horse

Speaking of greats in baseball, Kershaw is great, Mike Trout is great, Molina and Posey are great, Wainwright, Harper is just a blast to watch, and McCutchen is a stud too.

Dude on a Pale Horse

I don't think I care about steroids anymore. I mean Big Mac took them and MLB didn't even have a policy. The writers want to keep these guys out of the HOF but kept it under wraps also, seems hypocritical to me. Bonds is an assclown, but for 4 years was the most feared hitter of all time. And the whole 90's is a who did/who didn't based on opinion. I'm over it.

VA Cane

A Fraud ties Mays....loser regardless. Not sure who I despise more Bonds and A hole for being the losers they are or Aaron and Mays for not having the balls and guts to call those losers out. Being humble is one thing, but to allow those two to be associated with your own greatness despite obvious irregularities is shallow and humiliating. Sad and gutless! Baseball is a dead sport....there are no greats in the game just chumps.
Speaking of chumps, Steven A Smith and Skip Bayless fit the word. To hear these 2 over opinionated jerks talk about Money Pac is horrible....they could not help each other put a jock on....worst program ever 2 non athletes supreme....who know nothing about sports.
I despise Winston....hope people in league do as well. Hope he is a target and is gone from league soon.
Congrats to our boys hope we can really start developing greats again....will get us back on top.

Terrance Sullivan

TonyCane I totally believe that. Hell go back and watch the games and look at the comments after losing to FSU and throughout the rest of the season even after the season. Not placing any blame. Just what I feel what happened. Anyways Go Canes. Wishing our Young Men the best. 2015 is beyond make or break year for our Canes.

JCane

It's hard to know how to interpret that, TC. Obviously, the loss was deflating. However, with the right attitude, teams shouldn't quit. The 2000 team found a way to play FU in the Sugar after getting snubbed for the national championship game, etc. The killer instinct of taking out the loss on the next opponent was part of the old U style that we'd all like to see come back. However, they also need to be prepared. 2014 is done. Hopefully the learning curve continues to improve.

TonyCane

One of the commentators mentioned tonight that after the FSU loss, the seniors started to focus more on their draft status. The commentator felt that if UM had won that game, they would not have lost another game last season. Comments were made on ESPN after Clive was drafted.

JCane

FWIW, we have a 3 game series coming up this weekend at Pitt in baseball, with two tomorrow (1 and 7) and one on Sunday. The midweek game will be vs. Bethune Cookman.

My congrats and sympathies to Duke. The fans love their Browns, but yuck to almost everything else about living there.

Congrats to the U, with 5 players picked before 3 rounds were done. The discussion about the 6-7 record with this talent has been had enough times already. Agreed totally. Next.....

SinisterCane

NFL CANEZ + The Process = 6-7

Terrance Sullivan

Loving it. NFLU baby. Go Canes.

Sarasota 'cane

Every time a 'cane is selected the talking heads question the talent/wins ratio, then they seem to suggest it's coaching with their body language IMO.

Is anyone else getting the same vibe from the draft?

CaneRock

Jim Kelly announcing the Bills pick...NICE!

trianglecane

Isn't Te'o playing mlb? So I guess the chargers will move perryman to weakside.

CaneRock

I think the Dolphins take Randy Gregory @ #52.

thirstybuzzardcane

Dolphins were stupid not to take him. DP52 is going to be a star.

If DGB is Dorial Green Beckham-

He has couple of mary jane arrests and he threw a coed down some steps after forcing open her door.

What blew it open for me, was when one of the talking heads said that Freddie Gray Jr. was actually the SECOND PERSON to die like this...what's the odds of that happening?! COWARDS!

CaneRock

If these lying cowards would've told the truth from jump, none of the rioting & vandalism would've occurred.

CaneRock

BALTIMORE (AP) — Baltimore's top prosecutor announced criminal charges Friday against all six officers suspended after a man suffered a fatal spinal injury in police custody. The announcement came after nearly two weeks of growing anger over Freddie Gray's death, and only hours after she received the results of a police investigation.

State's Attorney Marilyn J. Mosby announced the stiffest charge -- second-degree depraved heart murder -- against the driver of the police van. Other officers faced charges of involuntary manslaughter, assault and illegal arrest.

Mosby said the switchblade officers accused Gray of illegally carrying clipped inside his pants pocket was in fact a legal knife, and no justification for his arrest.

"No one is above the law," Mosby said at a news conference.

Was wondering why He wanted to enter the supplemental draft:

CHICAGO — The timing couldn’t be worse for La’el Collins.

Just two days before he was expected to be a first-round pick in the NFL Draft, the LSU offensive tackle was rocked by news that police in Baton Rouge, La., want to talk to him about the murder of a former girlfriend.

According to multiple outlets, police said Collins isn’t considered a suspect in the shooting death last Friday of Brittany Mills, 29, who was pregnant and delivered a boy who lived.

Police told the NFL Network they want to establish if Collins — who the network said hadn’t had contact with Mills since September — is the father of the child, while ESPN reported investigators want to see if Collins “can provide them with information.”

Collins, who also can play guard, is considered the fourth-best tackle available this year, and many mock drafts had him going to the Lions with the No. 23 pick Thursday night.

Though Collins so far is not deemed a suspect, merely having his name linked to a murder investigation — especially just two days before the start of the draft — seems sure to hurt the 6-foot-5, 305-pound lineman’s stock in this post-Aaron Hernandez era.

Collins is in Chicago to attend the draft this week. But thanks to this late-breaking development, he might be in for a long and lonely night — or nights, plural — in the green room.

UMike

Go Canes, but yea what she said about the Stadium is interesting and surprising.

UMike

Nooooo she said "cloud" lol

Go Canes

The most interesting thing is what she says after the Golden talk:

@flasportsbuzz: Shalala's message to those fed up with Golden;Analysts assess Dolphins 1st pick;Fins rush around country on G search: http://t.co/grZa8PjDaN

UMike

Who do you guys think has the BEST CHANCE of going in the 1st next year?

@PeterAriz: Miami Northwestern has 1st round picks in back-to-back years now (Bridgewater/Cooper). Artie Burns has the ability to be next.
