I can't dance very well, but fish, fish do not speak my name to one another.

So yesterday 2 of my closest kids left the shelter/group home...one went back home and one to a foster home. Such a bittersweet thing...easily the toughest part of this job...not the dangers, the emotional attachments. I dont think I will ever get use to this feeling...and if I ever do, I will quit.

On a positive note, the one kid already got permission to hike and camp with me and my family this summer!

I had 5 of the boys out fishing yesterday...a couple of them are pretty good, they prolly caught 10 fish between them.

Wonder what this is all about:

@ByTimReynolds: I was just going to write that Tracy was moving to defensive tackle too. (But she's right.) https://t.co/C61LGwVJpu

UMike

I like Reynolds humor some times

Terrance Sullivan

Great stuff UMike!

CaneRock

UMike...you ever thought about opening your own foster home?

UMike

CR...me and my gf have discussed become foster parents, mainly to help kids coming through the shelter I work at. We are currently raising 5 of our own, so would be a little difficult to add more than 1...and we may be taking on her 15 month old nephew soon.

But we are going to at least become qualified foster parents. Im also starting my own non-profit organization that focuses on life choices and the idea of "no excuses". Just cause you are in a rough area or have bad parents doesnt mean you cant make the choices you need to not follow in those footsteps. I already have myself, ex gang members, felons and drug users who want to join and speak and help young people. All have turned their lives around. IDK how it will work, but I know I have a vision and one way or another will realize it. I want to focus on teenagers starting with speaking with them in groups and eventually offering help with filling out job applications, creating resumes, academic help, scholarship help etc.

I wonder if the Canes will try to go after him?

Just a guess here, but it could be some poster I'm another site saying TH is going to transfer, or has some major beef, or something like that.

We've all seen, many many times, people posting rumors and downright lies as fact.

That's one of the things I like about his site, is that the moderators call out that stuff really quickly. Whereas on other sites it's a boiling cauldron of BS lies and made up stuff

There may be something going on with DH or maybe not. But guessing stuff and putting it out as fact is no bueno

Excerpt from Duke's cover letter to NFL teams:

For Hire: Explosive Back Who Just Needs a Seam

"I’m a running back by trade, but I have the mentality of a hard-hitting safety. Growing up, I always had eyes for the Miami defense. With those guys, not only were they unafraid of contact, it looked like they loved it. That’s something I was able to identify with. We’re constantly told that the NFL is a grown man’s game, but I feel like I’ve always played like a grown man."

"For this reason, I believe that I’m the next great running back to come out of Miami. Yes, I fully understand how big the footsteps I’m following in are. Running backs that come through The U realized what it took to play there. It’s no coincidence that they’ve been successful at the next level. Guys like Clinton Portis, Edgerrin James and Frank Gore laid out a blueprint for how to handle business. When you’re a running back at Miami, making it to the NFL is an expectation rather than a goal. I have a legacy to live up to."

Cover letters to NFL teams may be start of special bond for Browns rookies Duke Johnson, Hayes Pullard:

Attar said in a telephone interview Thursday that only Pullard and Johnson, his top two NFL clients, wrote letters. Attar’s firm also offers marketing and public relations services and while exploring new platforms for his athletes, he approached the website founded by Jeter that publishes first-person stories.

“Duke and Hayes were like, ‘I love that I get to say it in my own words. I don’t take this for granted. My resume is my film and everything the NFL has gathered to this point, the combine, pro days, private workouts. Why don’t I cap it off with a cover letter like everybody else does?’ ” Attar said.

Barry:

### Big recruiting pickup for UM hoops, which today snagged a commitment from Charlotte-based Victory Christian High (Charlotte) 6-9 center Ebuka Izundu, a three-star prospect who chose UM over Arkansas and Cincinnati.

Clemson, Georgetown and USC were among his other offers. He averaged 21 points, 15 rebounds and six blocks last season.

“They’ll use me at power forward, want me to shoot if I’m open outside, up to 15 feet,” he told Canesport.

Izundu joins three-star St. Petersburg small forward Anthony Lawrence in UM’s incoming recruiting class.
