That Blake James statement was in a donor email sent yesterday, as a deadline for contributions approaches. My inbox was overflowing yesterday, so I didn't get to this email till late last night.

Tempest in a teapot.

Here is the full text:
........
I believe that everyone has the potential within them to be a champion. To be a winner in life and, for those who enter the arena, a winner on the field or court. Yet, while winning games at Miami is exciting, it is not what makes our student-athletes champions.

Champions look for solutions instead of problems; they support one another; they push themselves beyond limits; and they do it all with integrity and class.

With the incredible support of our educators, coaches, staff and supporters such as yourself, our student athletes are excelling like never before. But there is always more we can do and we need your support.

Help to continue the championship tradition at "The U." Please give now . . . make an impact . . . and help continue Building Champions!

Is there a reason I can't post under my original name: l u r k e r ?

The posts don't show up.

Ohio_Cane

l u r k e r was BANNED!!!!

Just kidding. I have no idea why. I don't see any restrictions on that name.

Lur-ker

I have been banned! LOL

I just tried posting under my original screen name - it won't show.

No big deal, but is it possible someone put my name on a banned list, maybe by mistake?

I'll just keep posting with the hyphen

Had it happen to me.

4 more days till the WORSE football President in UM history officially steps down...#THANKSDONNA!

NativeCane

It was one of the worst teams in 30 years WITH those guys. Why do you expect improvement without them?Posted by: 1mg of Epi | May 27, 2015 at 12:34 PM
1. We will have new uniforms.
2. The cheerleaders get better every year.
3. Tailgates are to die for!
4. Most importantly, Sun Life will have more shade.
Those facts alone equal 10 wins EASY.

LOL

Miami played football before the last 15 years, so, uh......no.

CaneRock

^^^^^^^^^^^ My bad...the WORSE...EVER.

Go Canes

Yeah Tad Foote really loved the football program.

Jimmy absolutely loved him and the way he always had his back.

Give me a break.

Lur-ker

A+ for boldness

F for factual content

Lur-ker

LOL,

Miami's been playing football since 1927, CR, do the math.

CaneRock

Tad Foote...Jimmy,Dennis,Butch.

Donna...kept Coker around too long,Randy, & Golden.

Not even close...Edward "My Good Man" Foote > Donna...BEST EVER!

Lur-ker

Make CR ubermaster of the University in charge of hiring, firing and evaluating university presidents. I think that's the solution to all our problems.

Go Canes

There were ADs that contemplated shutting down football and DID shut down basketball.

Tad Foote absolutely loathed the entire football program and hated Jimmy Johnson.

But Shalala was the worst for not firing Coker, who won and played for a NC his first two years, hiring Randy who everyone loved and of course being behind the Golden hire, a coach that's basically been on probation for 75% of his time here.

LOL

Don't U know!

86Cane

OK, indulge me a bit while I tell a short but truestory:

So we are at a UM game in sunny Sun Life Stadium and of course I am trying to find the little shade that exists at the top of the upper deck, last row. It is a windy as hell day and the winds catches the brim of my baseball cap and sends it flying over the top wall and down to the parking area about 300 feet below exposing my big, balding soon to be sunburned forehead.

NativeCane, being the kind and generous guy that he is, disappears about 5 minutes later and returns about 10 minutes later with a BRAND NEW $25 cap from the stadium store. He hands it to me and says: "I told the guy to give me the best one they had, so here it is, my treat."

That my friends, is a friend for life!

Lur-ker

Dome sunburns are the worst. Ouch.

Hats off to native

Ever get a top of feet sunburn. Those can be brutal, too.

Just the Esophagus scope with a dilation and a biopsy on a little bit of tissue they said I shouldn't be concerned about, but were going to check out anyway.

Miami debate pisses excellence.

Shalala stood by the program in 2006 when the media was pushing for the program to be suspended in the wake of the FIU brawl. It would have been easy in some respects to bow to political pressure and do that. She would have been applauded nationally for "having the courage to reign in a program that had gone rogue". Ditto in 2011. On both occasions, there was talk that Miami should self-impose a suspension of football play. She pushed back, and pushed back hard on the NCAA.

She did reign in a "program that had gone rogue"...how many times did we here that the Shannon era Canes played with no emotion...
And who was She supposed to stand by under those circumstances...FIU? Sorry, but I'm not giving Her credit for something that SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO DO.

Also, that brawl was severely overblown by the media...IIRC, the Clemson-South Carolina brawl was worse, that brawl resulted in a few arrests.

Go Canes

Go back and watch her press conference man.

She wasn't just supportive, she was defiant and angry. She did the same thing when they found a way to put the NCAA over the barrel. She did a phenomenal, masterful job of emptying their chamber, leaving them with nothing but blanks when it came time to deliver punishment.

In both situations Shalala did a fantastic job against the same haters that have trash this program for the last 30+ years.

There is no way anyone who isn't completely biased can't see that.

Terrance Sullivan

Donna Shalala>Tad Foote. That is all.

Go Canes

Yep.

This guy isn't a talking head, he does legit research into every big program.

@tglove44: @philsteele042 I think the #Canes will surprise some people....what are your thoughts?

@philsteele042: @tglove44 I am in the same boat. If you are a Hurricane fan you will be pleasantly surprised by my outlook on Miami this year!

CaneRock

Last 100 games under the Presidency of one Edward Thaddeus Foote II...74-26...6 Big East Championships...1 NC appearance.

Last 100 games under Donna Shalala...56-44...1 ACCC Ship in the worse Conference in CFB that year.
