Losing to the Florida Gators once at the College World Series was bad enough.
Losing to them twice in embarrassing fashion is completely unacceptable.
The Gators beat the Hurricanes twice in the 2015 CWS by a score of 25-5.
That is ridiculous, and shameful, and humiliating and even embarrassing.
The question is: What needs fixing and how should UM fix it?
Soup, FB wont let me go there, prolly something to do with state forests and chainsaws!

half the former indentured Africans in Jamestown, were married to white women.

I've never heard this before.
The historical record, as far as I'm aware, see two links below, makes no mention of this. If you have a source, please post. I don't do this to be a jerk, but there's a lot of stuff spread spread on the Internet as fact without solid scientific or historical foundation.
I only believe in what can be documented through science or rigorous scholarship.

LOL...you don't know what a mulatto is?
The answer is in the VERY vague & suspect timeline of the first link that you provided:
"Legislation was passed defining the status of mulatto children. Children would be considered the same status as the mother. If the child was born to a slave, the child would be considered a slave."
Posted by: CaneRock | June 23, 2015 at 01:41 PM
Also, I find it very peculiar that that timeline omitted Bacon's Rebellion. Bacon's Rebellion was an uprising by Euro & African indentureds, that eventually led to the Africans being permanently enslaved.

No offense intended, CR.
I see all kinds of stuff on the Internet.
I see all kinds of stuff on the Internet. It really doesn't matter what you think happened but what matters is what reputable sources say out there. I've never seen anything to even closely confirm what you said. There is just no historical record to even closely back up your claim.
Provide a link or source, or it's just made up imaginary stuff. I say thix because, sadly back in the 1600s that was something that was not accepted by society. There would be some record of it, it would've been noted. Today it's no big deal. In the 1950's it was a big deal. In the 1600's it would have been a HUGE deal. Especially with class conscious British descendants.

This is from that VERY FAULTY timeline that you provided:
"1691 First act prohibiting intermarriage."
This is 72 YEARS AFTER the first Africans landed on JT. Obviously Africans & Euros were getting married, for them to prohibit it. This is ALL according to that FAULTY TIMELINE that YOU provided.

You have that link that backs up your claim yet?
Bueller?
I only provided two very reliable sources. The only place I've seen your claim, is an anonymous post on a sports blog. So who am I to believe? The National Parks Service (a government agency) and the Washington Post (along with many historians that study this stuff) or the anonymous poster with no citations or references.
Using you logic, we could say there were Martians or Aborigines from Australia on that ship
It's just basic logic, CR. Nothing personal. I think you're a fine person, but hearing something somewhere from somebody doesn't make it fact. Don't work that way. Facts have to be supported with documentation.

This subject is sensitive to all of us as we all have different views. I will say this all racism is wrong and the owning of slaves is never right. No law or person is going to change these things; we must each fight and resist such injustice in our everyday lives....and teach all our children that these things can never be tolerated or ever exist again.
I respect all of you, I think we need to talk about football more! We need a great year, so lets do it!
Just Win Baby! Thanks AD!

Don't know about the half statistic but it seems highly unlikely that white women married former black indentured servants at that high a number in Colonial America as single white women were something of a rare comodity back then. Of course I'm not saying it didn't happen at all, but racism and bigotry were a serious fact of life back then, we've really come a very long way since then. Most mulattos came from white men taking black wives because of the woman shortage.

Again, this is according to that bogus link that you provided:
"1691 First act prohibiting intermarriage."
Why would they make a law prohibiting intermarriage, if they weren't already doing it?...72 years after the first Africans landed on JT?

I'm sorry, CR. we're done with this.
Nobody says there was no intermarriage. In fact one of the most famous intermarriages relates back to Jamestown. Pocahontas.
No offense, but you clearly don't understand the concept of burden of proof when making a claim that is otherwise unverifiable.
My objection is not with the specific subject of intermarriage, as we could be discussing any subject. My objection is with the incredible spread of opinion, falsehoods, and speculation being passed off as fact on the Internet.
Making a statement, does not make it true. The truth lies in the verification, not in conjecture and having to prove a negative, which is what you're doing. Making the dissenter (me) have to prove a negative is a most simple and basic logic fail and disqualifies you in any judged debate. Again, the burden of proof is on the one making the claim (you). Otherwise, one can make any claim, and if challenged, come back with "prove me wrong"
To weigh the veracity of a claim, there at least must be some basis in fact.
End of discussion on my end.

3. No home cooking: Because the location of Sun Life Stadium isnβt ideal, and the program has taken a significant downturn, Miami has not enjoyed home-field advantage like many of its would-be national competition. Heck, anytime Florida State or Clemson plays at Miami, the crowd is essentially partisan. Miami has been downed at home by the likes of Pittsburgh, Boston College, Virginia and Kansas State even as a hefty favorite. So with Clemson defensive products like Mackensie Alexander, Jayron Kearse, Adrian Baker and Richard Yeargin prepping to show out near their hometowns in south Florida, the Tigers likely wonβt be daunted by this particular road trip.

I'm assuming that's legit. But don't know if it is or isn't. If it's a legit button, and they were aware of it, as they probably would have been, of course it's on them because they should have put a stop to it. Either way, it won't matter even if it is legit. Teflon.

Partisan? I don't understand what he means by that. Poor choice of words. Someone that writes for a living should learn how to use the right words instead of making people guess what they mean
