EVERYBODY laughs at your excuse generator for Golden, especially me! Lol

Another rhetorical question for ya... how many people think highly of Butch compared to people that think highly of Golden??? LMAO

30CINCO

lol

Lur-ker

got mad love for Butch just giving perspective. Some Canes fans need to at least know their history if they are going to make a bunch of assumptions. I don't hate Al or Love Al but he is the Head Coach of the team I love thus gets my support until he is no longer the head coach. I did the same with Howard, Jimmy, Dennis, Butch, Larry, Randy as well.

Who cares?

You're missing the point, totally.

Lur-ker

WWIN, after season 4 people were flying planes and holding up signs against Butch: FACT

WWIN

^^^^^^
True Lurker... but that was Butch's first run as a Head Coach and he had real sanctions... this is Golden's second run of what he did at Temple

You're missing the point, totally.

The point is you want to judge another coach's body of work, six years worth, against the results of another after four years.

You and some others on here speak with such conviction, with such 100% certainty about the future of this coach when in fact the prior one you so adore was so similar in results at basically the same juncture of his career.

You love Butch with the 20/20 vision that comes only from hindsight. I have NO doubt that if Butch was the coach right now and the year was 1997, you and your crew would say it was hopeless and he was never going to do anything here.

He lost 47-0 against FSU for God's sakes!

It's hysterical to watch at times.

Like I said, I'll wait for things to play out before knowing with such certainty what the future holds.

Everybody was saying 5 years.. now it's 6 ? okay Golden gets 2 more

Sorry but I'm judging Golden on his time at Temple as well... 5yrs there and 4yrs here so 9yrs body of work I'm grading and it all looks the same. Camp went so well last year that he ended it early and that resulted in a 6-7 season... I don't see camp getting much better than that if you get my drift... the best camp he's EVER had resulted in a 6-7 season!!!

Can he turn it around... it's possible but I'll be in Missouri

I will be at FAU for the first game , anyone else going ?

So why did four-star 2016 running back Amir Rasul recently flip his commitment from UM to FSU?

“What made me flip was pretty much I was looking at the future,” Rasul told the Miami Herald. “UM really didn’t have a good season [last] year, Golden will probably be gone and they’ll be looking for a new head coach. I didn’t want to be in that situation going into my freshman year.(siiigh)

&

### I asked Golden about California coach Sonny Dykes, in a clear reference to UM, telling ESPN a few months ago: “There’s an unnamed ACC team that’s got this recruiting class full, another one almost full… Do they really think they’re going to sign those guys? I mean, that’s done as a signal. (fools Gold?)

&

### A few former players have taken unnecessarily personal shots at Golden, primarily Phillip Buchanon nicknaming him “Al Folden.” (too many X-Canes feel that way)

.

Man I hate reading shit like this the past few years so close to yet another season especially after 6-7 last year.

Here's hoping for a Coastal rep ACC appearance and Bowl win... hopefully.

TonyCane

Golden out recruited EVERYBODY in the Coastal during the "cloud"... how did it stop him from winning it???

3rd Year Players: 13

So let's look at it more simply:

2007: Upperclassmen 43, Lowerclassmen 33
2008: Upperclassmen 37, Lowerclassmen 48
2009: Upperclassmen 30, Lowerclassmen 42
2010: Upperclassmen 40, Lowerclassmen 43
2011: Upperclassmen 41, Lowerclassmen 36
2012: Upperclassmen 31, Lowerclassmen 48
2013: Upperclassmen 31, Lowerclassmen 38
2014: Upperclassmen 31, Lowerclassmen 41
2015: Upperclassmen 30, Lowerclassmen 47

It's in the numbers above that you see the overall trend in experience for the team, which has bearing when it comes to strength and conditioning for younger players as the season wears on (see JUCO loaded K-State versus freshmen heavy Miami in 2012).

Another factor is the overall size of the roster. At 69 scholarship players in 2013, and 73 players in 2014 the Hurricanes have had simply less room for error when it comes to injuries (Miami also redshirted 14 players last year, leaving the available talent pool at just 59 players). Apart from the hit that morale took after the FSU loss last season, this also may have bearing on the late season swoons of the last two seasons.

TonyCane

It also explains the late season problems that plagued the Hurricanes in 2009 after the Central Florida game which saw them at 5-1. Injury riddled, they subsided to a 4-3 record the rest of the way, and carrying 72 athletes would have affected depth.

Not showing in the article above is how the 4 and 5 star players are spread out amongst the classes. This season is the first time in quite a while where these athletes are relatively evenly distributed amongst first, second, third, and four year player groups.

Go Canes

Excellent info as always Tony.

Ive been going with the Megadeath and Slayer.

UMike

I dont want it to happen and hope it dont, but I think we lose 3-4 games this year. I like that there seems to be changes made to the D, but I still don't have any faith in Golden on game day. Other coaches seem to easily out adjust him, and he doeskin have that fear or losing.

Rock, just catching up on your posts.

I know he's an athlete, but forgot his sports.

It sounds like his Ortho surgeon has things in hand. It's much better to deal with these things now than to let them linger. I know as a parent, it hurts like hell because I've been through injuries with mine as well. Really wish the best, and I'm sure he'll put in the work and get to 100%

Exactly what I expected. One post talking about UNC not counting for Butch because they are a "basketball school" (funny on its own) then the next post stating how much Temple counts? LOL!!

I personally don't think Butch will ever be hired here again, but if he is, who is going to tell Coach L that he cant have a successful b-ball program because Butch cant handle that? And if the baseball team gets wins?!?! #forgetaboutit

It's hysterical to watch.

TonyCane

UMike, last season only FSU had more (a lot more). Nebraska and Louisville were close.

I think inexperience at QB and conservative play calling did us in against UL, NE, and FSU. The other losses were due to injury attrition on a shallow roster and The team losing motivation.

UMike

I think Butch winning 8 games at a place like UNC is impressive. But I also think what Golden did with Temple was impressive.

Ohio_Cane

Man, RB Carlin Fils-Aime committed to Tennessee. Really like that kid. Still time to get him back, but we're behind Tenn, UGA and Auburn.

Ohio..than stings a bit...was hoping he would replace Rasul...kid should already be a 4-Star.

Before that NCAA mess at UNC they had something really special being built.

Golden at Temple was impressive but I watched that bowl game vs UCLA he's had the same issues for years with time management and controlling what the offense does to his defense. But yeah you are right
