Golden has five years firm on his current contract @ $2.5mm+(thru 2019).

He's not going anywhere on his own. Unless the new administration is far less frugal than any previous administration, Golden is a lock for another 3 or 4 years.

No way they eat $12.5 million. I can see eating the last year, maybe even 2, but no more than that.

So, do what I have done. Lower the expectations. Don't read, much less, buy into any of the hype. We will be very mediocre.

Our 5.5 over/under wins line tells you all you need to know.

Canerock, the guys Golden got in 2011 were fine. Guys who get a lot done, Like Duke's Cutliffe would think they were in heaven with those guys.

Our guys don't get better while on the property, get drafted and then pop. Happens too often to be a statistical fluke. We have a weak coaching staff at the top, both coordinators and at many positions.

Hayes: Al Golden is ‘a Terrific Coach’

"I spent some time with Al [Golden] a couple years ago, three years ago during National Signing Day and it really looked like they had a plan, they had a purpose,” The Sports News’ Matt Hayes said on the Big O Show with Joe Zagacki at SEC Media Days. “I don’t know what it is. I don’t know why things aren’t clicking right now because I think he’s a terrific coach. I think a lot of it people can say its quarterback… They struggled at times there. I love Kaaya, I think he’s gonna be a terrific player. They’ve got to be in a situation where good things happen to them. I thought when they beat Florida, I thought that would turn it.”

Tony, no one is saying Golden should have brought us back to prominence yet, but 6-7 in year 4...no excuse for that. Year or more removed from the NCAA mess, however many players drafted, best RB in ACC...no excuse.

I disagree Mike. There is no reason why we shouldn't have been winning the division and playing for conference championships. That would meet the definition of prominence I think.

No doubt.
