--------------------------------------------------------------

I hope so!!!!! Every year I expect a promising season and they always disappoint me!!! I'm going to play a little reverse psychology, so I'm not expecting much this year.

VfB_Cane

I'll be on vacation in the southern parts of Europe the next two weeks. Have a good time everybody, stay save and start the season the right way! (*)
(*) Includes tailgating, cheerleaders, winning & adult beverages.
Excludes public nudity, bar fights and poor results.

NEGATIVE.

The scariest words a Canes fan can hear is:

"Oh my God, RaizeCane is out of Captain and Coke!"

OR

"Oh my God, everybody run NativeCane broke out his chainsaw!"

OR

"Oh my God, what is that noise, is that OGV sitting next to you?"

NicKane

Well I don't know any of those guys listed above 86 but if you say those are scarier then giving up to many 3rd downs then I'll defer to your wisdom on this. Plenty of captain and coke on hand, no seats for OVG and no chainsaws at games. Lol

CoCane

This post is for the new blogger Nick...

I see you have in depth X's and O's knowledge of football. Most can't relate or are in denial. To blog here you have to dumb it down. If you don't, you'll blow a gasket hopelessly trying to get people to see things the way they are. I've accurately predicted drives, gameplans, match ups, game results and seasons. After all of that, I still got redundant fukkery from some(you know who they are). You have these options...

The UMike strategy: Overlook the foolishness and pacify the ignorant. Let them feel like they made some type of sense and agree to disagree.

My strategy: Mostly read, post on a limited basis (Every now and then drop some ghetto azz insults, the self proclaimed intellectuals can't handle that. They get pizzed and try to pretend they're not. LMAO!) and laugh at the foolishness.

Or continue to let things get under your skin, until you spiral out of control and get banished like Cavaleer, Calvin and a few others.

Those are the paths for the knowledgable fans on here. Choose wisely...

NicKane

Thanks for the advice Cocane. I always enjoy your posts. Well I kind of went with your strategy since I started posting here but that got me in a little hot water with management because I lost it and went all Hialeah on here. So I think I'll try Umikes strategy and see if that works better for me. I like this blog a lot and don't want to end up like those other guys because I don't want to have to go back to posting on Canestime as that blog has gone down hill.

YooperCane

Yo my brotha's from other motha's! Sup dawgs? Shout out to everyone...been playin' outside for a couple of months as Soup would put it. Glad to see everyone is getting along here these days. Can't wait for some motha phuckin Canes football baby!

CoCane

No problem bro. Also, just remember we're all fans of the "U" and just want them to win...

As for football...

I'm not worried about our talent.

I'm not worried about position coaches, except the DB coach.

I'm worried that the HC and coordinators still haven't learned how to play with their toys without breaking them yet.

Will they call a soft zone with the safeties 30 yards deep on 4th and 8 to give up fg position from our 41 YL, under a minute to go?

Will they stack the box for 4 quarters against a QB that can't throw?

Will Coley call a bubble screen every drive?

I can't wait to see...

VA Cane

Coley needs to return to form.....never the same after got rocked vs The Ville ....scared of reality..... this is a hard game.

Our scrinmage went well....played our opponent we beat in SB last year....we rocked them 42-0 yesterday....we were so much quicker faster.....aggressive! we threw 3 passes....not showing my hand we pounded the ball at them gashed them over and over we ran some GT option they were so worried about pitch they left dive open again and again....we rolled.
D killed....we knocked a couple guys out with hits....so it ended early.
We are psycho killers. ...so fundamentally sound. ..we are ready.

That's right dawg. Unleash your minions! No mercy, all fury!

NicKane

I just want to see the players on D in proper alignments and to be fundementally sound. That's all cocane, at this point I'm just looking for the little things that a lot of us just consider the basics. If I can see that from the D then I'll finally start to believe there being properly coached. And on the offense side, just cut done on the pass drops that have plagued us since 2006. And special teams, I don't even want to talk about that because it will make my blood pressure and simmering hate for golden come to the surface and explode like a volcano. Lol

86Cane

Coke...for the record I do not agree with your opinion about the bloggers here or half of what you said BUT the strategeies for dealing with the good folks on here work both ways on both sides of the arguements. The same could be said about "the other side".

IJS

86Cane

I want to see:

Defense:

Pressure on the QB.
TFL and sacks
More turnovers
More aggressive, attacking style
Allow less than 21 PPG

Offense:

Consistent play by OL
Better, more dominant running game
More deep balls to stretch the D
More passes over the middle to the TE
Score 35 PPG

BUT MOST OF ALL I WANT TO SEE DOMINATION BY
THE SPECIAL TEAMS! WITH THE ATHLETES WE HAVE THERE IS NO REASON WHY WE SHOULD NOT DOMINATE THE ST GAME EVERY GAME!!!

Now, before you go and ask, yes, I know who coaches ST. SO DO NOT EVEN GO THERE. Just agree with me plain and simple, that is all.

CoCane

It's all good SOUP.

I only compromise when it's worth it. The legion is worth it.

I even stopped calling Go Canes and Lurker, "Giant Douche" and "Turd Sandwich".

Do you know how hard that was for me??? Lol j/k

But they are my Legion brothers. I'll beat somebody azz if they mess with them too.

These two things are definitely key 86. We can dominate with are tightends and I mean dominate! No one in the acc can match the size, speed and athleticism of our tightends. Hopefully we explote that and they don't drop passes that hit them in the hands as that will cause us to go away from them.
And special teams is also a no brainier because like you said, special teams is an athletes place to shine and with are speed, we should at least be able to be solid there instead of weak.

Terrance Sullivan

Dominant defense, offense, and special teams, and good coaching making adjustments, and good game plans. So in essence a total better effort in 2015 compared to 2014 and before that as well. We need to at least be the best team in at least a decade to be where we can be happy.

Lur-ker

Pressure on the QB.
TFL and sacks

^^^^^^^^^

That's the key.

We'll be much improved on offense, barring injuries.

i-am-Cane

first time in a long time that there is plenty of talk about explosive players preforming on both sides of the ball.

Lur-ker

Agreed. Talent level, on both sides, is the best it's been in years. Depth needs to improve, but that will happen with time.

Go Canes

This part has never been in doubt.

As far as I can see, this biggest thing this team needs to do to get back to where we need to be is win 3rd down on offense, especially in the fourth quarter.

We can't have one side of the ball continuously hanging the other out dry. Three and two seasons ago it was the D, last year the O.

There are others things of course, but we can't score 3 or 7 points in the second half of nearly all our big games.

SinisterCane

I wanna see AL stop sweating profusely and get rid of his stupid ass tie

Lur-ker

I agree about the offense.

A big part of the problem last year is that as good as BK was, he was still just a true freshman who enrolled in the summer, no spring practice no early tune ups, nothing. He basically started in August. That's unheard of. But as good as he was, there was only so much of the offense he could handle, that could be opened up to him.

That's different. This year he will be the field general. He should have complete control, or close to it. And he's smart. Very smart.

For those who think he could have done better last year, I don't see how, based on those circumstances.

He is not physically imposing, he doesn't have the physical talents that other QB's have. Look at that Johnny Football. He redshirted. But his game was not as cerebral. It was purely based on his physical abilities: good arm, but mostly lighting quick feet, excellent speed and escapibility, great scrambler, and his ability to make plays by extending the play and running for it or finding the open receiver in the scrambled egg secondary that happens after a few seconds.

What Kayya has is intellect, leadership, a nice touch, a good arm that's improving, and command of the offense. I expect to see that come together this year. Fingers crossed, I'm not worrying too much about the offense because of that, unless Coley just turns out to be a really bad OC.

Geez!!!! We are asking a lot, aren't we?....lol

CaneRock

Offensively, we did a good job of AVOIDING 3rd downs, as we were near the bottom with the 4 PO teams. But we didn't do a good job of converting the few third down opportunities that we did get.

I'm starting to think that 3rd downs per game is a more important stat for defense, than it is offense.

Also, our yards per play were pretty good, as we were ranked 11th, even ahead of Alabama & FSU.

We can build off the stats above, now we just gotta SUSTAIN & FINISH!

CGNC

Co, I would like to see a much improved D-line and Golden lose the collared shirt- Sinister that is why he sweats like crazy - that get up has no place in South Florida. I would like to see a crazy dominant O-line and a running back that goes through people.

I do not want to see us call crazy consecutive conservative running plays when the other team is stacking the box daring us to throw

How's that my friend?? LOL

thirstybuzzardcane

Looks like Reggie Wayne is going to sign with the Patriots. Good pick up for Pats if he passes his physical.

CaneRock

As far as the redzone & the passing game are concerned, I've never understood why OCs limit themselves to the goal-line. The endzone is anywhere from 15-17 yards deep, USE IT!...SPACE is YOUR FRIEND on offense!

CaneRock

Posted by: CGNC | August 23, 2015 at 01:08 PM

Exactly. "Daring us to throw" is where Kaaya comes in, He's gotta make em' pay!

CaneRock

Looks like Joe Brown has made huge strides from the Spring...Barry:

Are you still working with the one unit or do you have your five [starters] at this point?

"I think we’ll release the depth chart after watching this film…I believe so. But, we got an idea of the rotation. You guys are kind of seeing it; Danny [Isidora] at guard… at tackle, Sunny [Odogwu]’s in there, Kc [McDermott]’s in there, Joe Brown’s in there in the mix too. So that’s what we’re looking at."

Coley, by the way, said Isidora looked good at tackle and Brown --- who has really been turning heads, as we noted on Tuesday --- looked good at guard.

Dude on a Pale Horse

I want to see Miami bury teams. I want to see them pin their ears back and run, using their talent advantage.

I don't want to see give up plays by the O on 3rd down, like draws, and I can't watch another soft, passive defense.

laquinton

86 is right. Too much thinking, just go play.

Coley had a interview with Big O and he said that Coley came in last year at 170.. then had teeth pulled and wasn't here mentally. This year he is 190 and has one drop all off season, I'm expecting a big year from him and Scott

NicKane

Me neither dude. Scheme aside aslong as its aggressive and attacking I'll be happy and accept that we might give up a big play now and then but if I see another year of soft, passive/prevent zone that the opposing team gos through like Swiss cheese then I'm gonna go nuclear. No more slow death on defense, it doesnt work! All it does is eat up the clock, tire out the D and keep our offense off the field. And if our offense under Kaaya is gonna be our strength this year then the D has to play to get off the field as fast as possible.

CaneRock

Yup...a bend don't break D, and a futile "3 yard and a cloud of dust" offensive philosophy, DON'T MIX!

Go Canes

FSU, Clemson and GT ranked in the top 16. We have two of them, plus Nebraska, UVA and Virginia Tech at home.

We have a great home schedule this year.

Hurricanes offensive coordinator James Coley revealed Friday something new regarding Stacy Coley’s lost 2014 season: he fought a back injury, too.

That’s in addition to the oft-documented confidence issues, his lack of size and strength, and a shoulder injury.

Speaking on WQAM Friday morning, James Coley said the 2013 freshman All-American entered last year’s training camp “at 168 pounds,” largely because of offseason wisdom teeth surgery. Coley was listed at 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds.

The back injury, which he did not elaborate on, followed the early-season shoulder injury. Coley took two hard hits in UM’s first two games, against Louisville and Florida A&M.

“He was never 100 percent,” James Coley said of the receiver/return
Pbp

CaneRock

Yeah, those wisdom teeth extractions ain't no joke, especially if they had to do some cuttin'.

tjl3909

He wasn't the same after Burgess Jr. lit his ass up

CaneRock

Watching this Packers-Steelers game, Gunthers DEFINITELY gonna get some PT this year. He just made 2 pretty good plays in a row.

USAFCane

I want to see old school Miami D line, meet at the QB. Crushing RBs behind the line of scrimmage. I want AG to run up the score rather than slow it down. Play the whole for quarters.

Want to see Kayaa take a big step forward.

I don't want to see big 10 football from the 80s when you have s.fl talent.

I don't want to see our coaches completely outcoached in the 2nd half.

I don't want to see a bend don't break D philosophy.

I think Phil Steele said it but Canes were onto something for 3-4 games before FSU and for half against FSU. Could have gone on a 8 game win streak. Going conservative against FSU and the subsequent loss destroyed this team. I don't want to see that mental let down again and subsequent losing streak to inferior opponents.
