Sophomore quarterback Brad Kaaya was named ACC Offensive Back of the Week after he led Miami to a 36-33 overtime victory over Nebraska last Saturday at Sun Life Stadium.
Kaaya picked up his second career ACC Player of the Week honor thanks to a career day through the air.
The California native Kaaya finished the day by going 25-of-42 for a career-high 379 yards. He also tossed a pair of touchdowns and had just one interception.
Kaaya has now thrown a touchdown pass in 16 consecutive games, while his second-half interception was his first in 110 attempts.
The Hurricanes are off this week and will return to action on Oct. 1 as they travel to Cincinnati for a Thursday night matchup against the Bearcats.

You know who else came out of Vanguard? Hint: he put UCF on the map. We played against every year and they handed it to us every time. Usually have good teams there.

I have to admit that Jim Harbaugh can flat out coach some football. Michigan QB played at St. Thomas Aquinas.

Based on your coach... Corn isn't even the best DB for the Canes!
How does that look???

It looks like we are 3-0 and whatever "my" coach has done has put Corn in a position to be rated the #1 corner in America.
Can "your" coach do better than that?

It looks as if "your" coach has an abyssmal record against power five teams, in ACC competition and in bowl games.
I think "our" coach should be much better than that.
And whoever gets that fixed, and soon, will be "my" coach. So far, Al Golden is on par this season.

I recall being ranked #7 in the country a couple years back... how did that turn out! Corn is my boy but at this point in the season those rankings mean Nathaniel!
As CaneRock stated...Butch can do much better!

That Herbie Cornhusker team SUCKS!!
Chit, TINY Southern Miss. loses a road game by the count of 36-28. And Nebraska was a - 21 1/2 home favorite. LOL
By the way, TINY So. Miss.' sophomore QB Mullins passed for ' 447 yards ' against that Hayseed Cornhusker squad.
The kid passes for 447 yards in front of 90,000 sodbuster Hayseeds. LMFAO
By the way, lowly So. Miss. was my UNDERDOG pick of the day and the Bulldogs COVERED comfortably!!
Moral of the wacky goofy rant. Golden coached NOT to lose in the fourth-quarter!! And that was in the comfortable confines of SLS.
QB Mullins 26-41, 447 yards, 2 TD, ZERO Int.
This Fournette of LSU fame is one mother freakin' FREAK!! The man just happen to run for 244 yards against a decent Orangemen defense. Go figure.

Go Canes...
why Golden won't start Corn? Is Howard or Burns better? What's the deal why the #1 DB in the nation is #3 on his own unranked team?
Posted by: WWIN | September 26, 2015 at 03:59 PM
Yeah, Harbaugh is the type of head coach Miami, Florida should have hired after the ONION HEAD fiasco. It's a tragedy that the Powers That Be no longer don't give a fU!! about football.
U'all Cane bUbba's are going to hear the news about Arizona's Richie Rodriquez tonight. Arizona playing mighty UCLA in a PAC-12 showdown on national TV vis-à-vis ABC.
Posted by: TheeMackJones | September 26, 2015 at 04:03 PM
Elder has too MUCH of that passé Hurricane NASTINESS in him and what not. So I figure Golden wants to REIGN Elder in a little bit and having him not start is one discreet method. Therefore, use Corn in the nickel/dime packages. In other words, Elder is akin to a SIXTH MAN in basketball. A starter coming off the bench, for example.
Posted by: TheeMackJones | September 26, 2015 at 04:07 PM
Every time I looked Corn was on the field, including special teams.
I'd be SHOCKED if the he wasn't in there as much or more than the other two.
So your point is irrelevant. Plays count, not who's starting.
Posted by: Go Canes | September 26, 2015 at 04:08 PM
See what y'all doing...got me talking about Golden when I'm trying to leave him alone! Lol
Golden deserves some credit for SOME of the things he's done here but this is NOT one of em

After the Hurricanes dispose of lowly Cincinnati, Miami faces a nasty gauntlet of FSU, Va. Tech, Clemson and Duke. Ouch! Then there's overrated Georgia Tech in November.

Plus you still didn't answer my question... IN YOUR OPINION who's the best DB we got?

He!!, when has the beloved Golden ever been UNDER PAR at Miami??
Golden is what he is, an average major college football coach. And if the game against Nebraska hasn't made U realize that fact. Then c'est la vie!!
Again, undersize TINY So. Miss. lost by only EIGHT points in Stinkin' Lincoln this afternoon ( Their QB passes for 447 yards on the road!! ). Chit, the Bulldogs probably would have won that game on a NUETRAL field somewhere in the Northeast or on the west coast.
Posted by: TheeMackJones | September 26, 2015 at 04:17 PM
You are wrong. He played the same number as Howard and 10 more than Burns.

Ever since he came here.
But it's a new season and as long as we're undefeated, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. Of cause, at this point, that doesn't mean a thing. If we get through the next five games undefeated, it'll be the greatest stretch a Hurricane football team has had in more then a decade.
So we should a relax, have fun, hope for the best, and see how things shake out.

I cease givin the beloved Golden the benefit of the doubt many, many, many, many, many moons ago.
Who knows. Maybe he'll prove all the distractors wrong coaching the players to a 9-3 or 10-2 regular season.
Posted by: TheeMackJones | September 26, 2015 at 04:43 PM
I'm not ducking anything man. You've gone off the deep end with some of your posts.
I think Corn and Burns are both superior talents with high round draft potential.
I don't know who is "better". I think they're both great players and I'm thrilled we have them.
And I could care less who starts. Maybe they think Howard excels more against the run on 1st down. Maybe they're rewarding him for his leadership in the locker room.
So what?
I posted a stat showing he played a monster number of snaps.
That is ALL that matters.
Posted by: Go Canes | September 26, 2015 at 04:45 PM
Canes are 3-0 and into a bye week. Canes need to get much better on the money downs and red zone. Penalties and missed assignments must be reduced. The Canes 6 minute offense also has to improve. If they do those things and stay healthy, Golden will seem like a much better coach and the Canes will win the coastal.

THEY ARE PLAYING CORN AS MUCH OR MORE THAN BURNS OR HOWARD.
I JUST PROVED IT TO YOU BUT YOU IGNORED IT.
And I don't know who's better Walton or Yearby, or Dobard or Herndon, or Scott or Waters. But just like the two DBs I'm just glad we have them.
That's it, nothing more. Get over your absurd conspiracy theories man.

From CIS:
I think it's pretty good neutral opinion of AL Golden.
It's been too quiet with the Golden talk the last few days. I am used to seeing "mopes" and "slurpers" out every day going back and forth. I know I have been accused of being a slurper because I defend the staff at times, but I am not naive and realize Golden has not proven anything here. He didn't deserve to coach this season, yet he is here and that means I will root for him to do well. I am not rooting for him because I am an Al Golden fan, I am rooting for him because I'd rather be proven wrong and see the guy adapt and become a winner here rather than being right and have us get a new coach in and start over again.
I know a lot of people here think Al misses on a lot of recruits, and I agree there are some guys that leave you baffled that we didn't even offer, but I also believe that the roster we had last year and the roster we have this year are two of the best rosters we've had since 2005. They might even be the two best. Kaaya is elite and makes the offense deadly. The defense has a lot of talent throughout out, but they still aren't getting enough free reign. When we've gone aggressive we've seen the potential of this team. Look at the first 3 quarters against Nebraska when the coaching staff actually let the guys go out there and play and have fun.
Here is where I think Golden really needs to change and change right now or he should not be the head coach next year(of course he shouldn't have been this year based off his 4 seasons, but the admin here is a joke). Firstly, I hate listening to his speeches most of the time. I am happy we're 3-0 and held on to beat Nebraska and I realize the the officiating was awful and assisted Nebraska in their comeback, and the coaches made a lot of boneheaded decisions to let them have a chance, but when Al gets the team quiet and the first thing he says is give Nebraska credit, my heart sank. The team needed to be torn up at that point. Win or not, that was an awful 4th quarter by all involved and Al needed to be heated and rip everyone, not give credit to an average team that should have lost 49-17.
Following off of that, in his pregame speech he is saying the team needs to love each other, stick together, and go out their and play together. I get it, make the team feel like one big brotherhood, but he needs to be telling them to make this the worst day of the other team's lives. We don't need to give them credit, say what they're good at, tell the team to love one another. No, tell them we're going to show them they aren't as good as they think, that they made a mistake coming to Miami.
Al lacks the aggression needed in this city. I'm not going to get into his interviews and whatever he says to the media. Coaches always use coach speak and that is that. I won't buy into anything he says in an interview or post game show. From what I have seen, Al needs to get more cutthroat. We all know these players can ball out and if given the aggression, they will thrive. This is a roster that should be setting goals for the playoffs, but here we are hoping we can win the damn Coastal division.
I will give credit to the staff when they deserve it. They deserve credit for the first 3 quarters of the game, they also deserve credit for the collapse. I want to see the staff grow and become winners. Become winners and become cutthroat. That is how you win the fanbase over. I don't want to see pictures of D'Ono and get pissed off with how dumb he looks in every photo and how soft our defenses are. I want us to look at pictures of his dumb face and say "this guy looks like a dumbass Jersean, but his defenses are hard".
I tend to be more optimistic than most and I do believe coaches can grow on the job, but last season's collapse nearly kills all of my hope for the staff. Seeing the aggression last week helped me gain some back and think this staff can learn to be winners here, but the 4th quarter took a lot of it away at the same time. If we show aggression against Cinci and actually play aggressive and dominate all game, that will be a good sign, but it's still a weak team we should beat easily. It'll be a nice sign that maybe the staff is realizing the soft conservative BS doesn't work here and hopefully that will lead them to stick with it and we'll come out guns blazing and abuse FSU's piss poor offensive line and just show them we're Miami and they're going to be our ***** like it should be.
It's ACC championship or bust for Al in my opinion and for us to do that, the staff needs to learn that we're going to make everyone our ***** and show them that we will determine how the game is played each week. If we can do that, that will mean the staff finally learned and we can win. If we can't, get this staff out of town and find someone who will.

So who's ranked #1 Corn or Burns? According to you these rankings mean everything except when it's time to defend Golden!
What did you prove? You showed the snaps of ONE GAME! That just proves Corn played the same amount of snaps as Howard during ONE GAME. Show the snaps from last season till now and see who played more
Like I said... if you knew what I KNOW...
