Sophomore quarterback Brad Kaaya was named ACC Offensive Back of the Week after he led Miami to a 36-33 overtime victory over Nebraska last Saturday at Sun Life Stadium.
Kaaya picked up his second career ACC Player of the Week honor thanks to a career day through the air.
The California native Kaaya finished the day by going 25-of-42 for a career-high 379 yards. He also tossed a pair of touchdowns and had just one interception.
Kaaya has now thrown a touchdown pass in 16 consecutive games, while his second-half interception was his first in 110 attempts.
The Hurricanes are off this week and will return to action on Oct. 1 as they travel to Cincinnati for a Thursday night matchup against the Bearcats.

Glad we don't have Tennessee's coach. That guy blew the game for them.....That had to be the worst clock management ever! Why didn't he go for 2 to make it a 2 touchdown lead. And then the defense goes prevent on a 4th and 14.....Vols deserve to lose!
Posted by: thirstybuzzardcane | September 26, 2015 at 07:32 PM
Those last ten seconds were WTF????
Posted by: Lurker | September 26, 2015 at 07:33 PM
I usually just read and don't comment but this corn argument seems a little silly. He plays a lot.
Posted by: rgcane | September 26, 2015 at 07:07 PM
Doesn't it seem silly that he's rated the #1 DB in the nation but doesn't start? F playing a lot... how dumb does that sound???
Posted by: WWIN | September 26, 2015 at 07:41 PM
WWIN in my opinion I don't think so. I think how they use him puts him in the position to be looked at that way. He gets to fire blitz from the slot and he rotates out to CB in their base package too. He's our best nickel back and return punts. The problem is that Howard has been inconsistent. I want him to step up so corn doesn't get worn out by the end of the year. Plus I think it's political too because he is a miami kid and a senior.
Posted by: rgcane | September 26, 2015 at 07:48 PM
Let me clear this up for the people playing slick dumb...
This is how it should go... as a player you go to practice everyday and put the work in to be the best, you compete to be the best, you compete to START, NOT play a lot! If you prove you're the best shouldn't you start? That's my argument!
If you don't agree with this it's probably because you're the type to pass out lollipops and go for ice cream after games win or lose.

When I saw they put Corn at CB, I was a little skeptical because he was so dangerous with the ball in his hands in hs, then I saw them practicing and I posted here he's got NFL hips. That kid could play 4 or 5 positions at a high level. He's still dangerous with the ball. Funny it took how many injuries before the staff turned it over to him at PR?

Posted by: WWIN | September 26, 2015 at 07:51 PM
But you know THAT matters. We need Miami kids to play for Miami. Corn is wonderful, but there's no pipeline in TN.

I agree to a point. Elder and Burns are both really, really good corners, they were last year also... 6-7... anyways, they should start. I think Howard definitely gets love because of his commitment, but I feel like he SHOULD.
Posted by: The Dude | September 26, 2015 at 08:02 PM
I have no issue with Howard starting. I just want Bush to step up and take the SS position

And who do you suggest replacing TH3 with...Jackson?...Henley?...Redwine?
And FYI, both Corn & Burns got burned in the NU game, even Corn admitted He got burned. Hell, on 4th & 13, Corn missed a tackle on one of those fire blitzes, a missed tackle that began that rally.
Nothing political about stinking up the joint at DB recruiting.
Posted by: CaneRock | September 26, 2015 at 08:16 PM
I will take the corn, howard and burns CB trio over any in the country
Posted by: BigWindyCane1 | September 26, 2015 at 08:31 PM
Are we stinking up the joint at DB recruiting? Or did I misunderstand?

Maybe so, but I'd bet you'd take Nick Saban coaching them.

Wasn't corn banged up last year?

That CANNOT be what she said?
Posted by: 86Cane | September 26, 2015 at 08:44 PM
Calloway is the best WR for the Gaytors and he is a freshman. We lost several players from those strong Booker T. teams but we have Thomas and Jackson.
I follow enough HS football in south Florida to realize the Canes do not have enough spots to recruit them all. Every Saturday, college football highlight reels are filled with South Florida players that got away. We cannot get all of the recruits, we just need our fair share. Unlike other programs, the Canes have enough talent to win
Posted by: BigWindyCane1 | September 26, 2015 at 08:45 PM
Yeah, stunk up the joint. Kids like C.Davis,D.Davis, & McFadden should've been Canes.

Stop it...HE struck out.

Well that and what U and OhioCane and that trash you guys post about Corn, The Elder, the greatest player to never play offense for your Miami Hurricanes.
Posted by: 86Cane | September 26, 2015 at 09:29 PM
I wouldn't trade our secondary for too many in the country so I won't give AL too much crap for how those positions were recruited.
Posted by: rgcane | September 26, 2015 at 09:32 PM
well SOUP, if I was getting bank like Golden, I wouldn't need game! LMAO!

No... Corn is really good, Burns is okay and would be a better safety, TH3 is a senior from Florida.
We'll ALWAYS have a roster FULL of Florida players no matter who's the coach! The key is to start creating other pipelines in other cities and states that you don't have a pipeline too!
When you start giving players positions... They'll stop working hard and become entitled!

If you were a player would you be okay with someone playing in front of you ONLY because of their classification? Just asking
Posted by: WWIN | September 26, 2015 at 10:04 PM
Since I've discredited Golden I feel I should list the things I'll give him credit for...
●Strength and conditioning
●Marketing and PR work
●Recruiting
●Swag16
●Squad17
●Whatever name 18 is
●Caring for his players
To TH3's credit... he's doing okay for now and has made a few good plays

Nope. I sure wouldn't, but... BUT if I were a local recruit, I'd probably talk to people, and if Howard is my guy, then I care. HS coaches might care, parents might care. I mean lets face the reality right, Golden aint winning a ship at Miami. He's not a good enough teacher of the basic fundamentals and as that CIS article that SC posted states, he lacks the kind of killer instinct to ever compete for anything but the Coastal. So, that said, I'm just saying I could see how it could help... at least a little.
Posted by: The Dude | September 26, 2015 at 10:47 PM
I'm sorry, but SOUP wants me to be positive every once in a while WW. I think it's in my contract. So you'll have to forgive me every once in a while when I shine up turds.
In reality though. It's who Al is as a person and as a coach. He's loyal to a fault. That could help locally. He probably made a lot of promises to get TH3 here.

That's all I've got to say about that.
Posted by: Go Canes | September 26, 2015 at 10:53 PM
Corn Elder: this is an easy one to answer- he is our best Nickle back, and thrives in that role, this is one instance where D'No got it right. Since we're in the Nickle more often than not, he essentially is a starter. Howard hurts us a ton, but I'm thinking we can cover him easier with a S than we could someone in the slot.

If he's not winning a ship what difference does loyalty make? So you are saying we should give players a automatic spot depending on where they're from? So they shouldn't have to earn it and high school coaches are okay with that?
Posted by: WWIN | September 26, 2015 at 11:27 PM
Posted by: j.w. | September 26, 2015 at 11:01 PM
Howard would be better in the slot. And the problem is when we aren't in nickel and Corn is on the sidelines
