Golden and D'Onofrio's pass coverage defense is DESIGNED to give opponents receivers CUSHION!! And if U haven't discovered that notion by now, I don't know what to tell U.

For example, Fox Sports 1 college football analyst David Wannstedt mentioned that Miami was giving FAU's receivers too much CUSHION.

thirstybuzzardcane

It was probably a good thing for the team to win like they did in OT instead of just winning 33-31.....I don't think their celebration would of been the same if that were the case! It's good mentally in the fashion they won going into a bye week!

thirstybuzzardcane

If only we had 10 more Corn's on defense, then I think everyone would be on the bus....lol!!!!

TheeMackJones

I have to give the beloved Golden credit because he was on that corrupt Big 10 officiating crew from the start!! Golden knew his team was/and was going to get the SHAFT up the U Know What during the game.

thirstybuzzardcane

I would like Golden and Co. to recruit big safety's and put them at LB. No way McCord should be playing there, he needs to have his hand in the ground!

There it is right there!

(STHU CaneRock before you say anything)

TheeMackJones

For me personally, it was BOSS seeing Miami, Florida BYTCH SLAPPING Nebraska for three quarters. The Hurricanes was giving it Herbie Cornhusker just like the Miami bowl teams of yesteryear. LOL Of course the exception was the 1994 Costa Cane team.

Miami 22, Cornhuskers 0

Miami 23, Cornhuskers 3

Miami 37, Cornhuskers 14 ( Canes 34, Hayseeds 0, halftime score. )

Hurricanes 31, Nebraska 30 ( Cornhuskers were a - 13 1/2 point chalk. )

Miami, Florida should have NEVER even been the game. And the Hurricanes held a double-digit lead going into the fourth-quarter. However, the Cornhuskers were a great team and made a gutsy, tough comeback, but didn't come home with a 1st prize trophy.

thirstybuzzardcane

When I was talking to some of the Nebraska fans before the game, I was asking what their strength and weaknesses are. They said they had good lines, decent QB and LB's, but they did mention their DB's weren't very good! Not taking away from Miami, but it might have something to do with the way Miami played!

VA Cane

I agreeTMJ.....Kaaya is very real. I am saying it here and now: best UM qb since KD11. The guys we had since then were good guys, just terrible wanna be qbs. Kaaya has all the skills, mo he is not a scrambler, but he moves around well when need be, stands tall in pocket, sees well, good arm, leader....I think he is really good....and with more talent which KD11 had, he could be unreal.

USAFCane

A positive. I'm always impressed with #17 on D. He always hustles and makes plays as long as he's been a Cane. Unheralded but one of my favorite Canes.

Interested to see what J.Johnson does with his chance for playing time. I have high hopes for this kid.

Can someone please tell what the deal is with S.Coley? He never seems to get targeted or am I missing something?

Impressed with Kaaya and he left some plays on the field meaning he hasn't peaked. He will get better this year.

Disappointed with some of the shot yardage play of the o-line.

thirstybuzzardcane

I like the feistiness Golden had in him in that game. It's better then our last coach who always had his arms crossed and looked like he was in la la land!

VA Cane, I personally believe # 15 will be a NFL 1st Round draft pick!! Yes, U read it hear first.

And Hurricane fan has to dig Kaaya's jersey number. Because # 15 is a vintage NFL QB from back in the day. He!!, # 15 even won a Super Bowl or two.

thirstybuzzardcane

^^^^Coley has the injury bug.....I saw him hobble off the field on Saturday. I really don't know why they have him of kickoffs if he's still trying to nurse an injury.

Huh?

VA Cane

I agree Mack....I think he is, a 4 year kid....he will be very good. SC was dynamic as frosh....when he got popped vs Ville, it changed him. I remember having a concuss in college...don't know he had one. He has struggled to stay on the field...
He sees a hard lick and shudders. Great talent....
not sure he has that heart...he can make big plays....awful light, slim....not sure he is up to it. Cowboy up son....I was short....but muscular as a college db....loved to hit and I hated my opponent. ...worked my hate up until Sat.....I made Charles Manson look like a Sunday school teacher...killer instinct. SC not so much....shame...good kid with talent

HawaiiCane

TheeMackJones, who wore #15?

Ohio_Cane

Kaaya = ACC Player of the Week

Lur-ker

Amazing! Kayaa ACC player of the week on a game we lost. Props.

Dude on a Pale Horse

I don't think you were the first to say Kaaya will be 1st rounder Mack.

A former Green Bay Packer Hall of Fame QB from back in the day.

And that be one Bart Starr.

Led the Packers to Super Bowl I and Super Bowl II victories over the Chiefs and Raiders.

I believe I prophesized that # 15 would go in the NFL 1st Round in the passé Miami Herald Cane football forum or was it the Palm Beach Post Cane site. Or maybe it was another Miami football blog site. I can't seem to remember it now.

TheeMackJones

Golden and Coley have to employ RB Grey on those 3rd and short plays.

Hurricanes have the worst 3rd down conversion rate in ALL of major college football. Ouch!!

Va Cane

I want to see a lot more of Chocolate.....big powerful fast...playmaker...got to get him in there. We have a great 3 headed attack of backs....Walton very nice for a kid...good player, Joe Y really was grand...he plants and is north south....love that...I was not so big on him, but saw what that kid has...tough guy. Get Choc the ball....couple blocks...gone!

we just need to get the ST coverage and tackling down pat....that was lazy...you go to want to hit and hurt....be aware!!!!

D needs some work....to much broken contain..some penetration but we need more, better angles of pursuit, and tackle better!!!!! Coverage at times was poor!

Va Cane

No excuse for not converting 3rds...have to to win in the stratosphere!!!!!!

Canes Warning ‏@CanesWarningFS 22s22 seconds ago

Looking at some stats from Saturday's game and Nebraska's previous 2 games and came across something weird.

In Nebraska's 2 losses(UM,BYU), they gave up exactly 511 total yards to each. 132 rushing and 379 passing

Huh what?

Ohio_Cane

Didn't hear Gunner Kiel got a concussion this past weekend vs Miami (OH). He may not be available for next Thursday's game.

30CINCO

Did those refs suck or what!?! And not because they called holding on us, but because they were not consistent with the call.

How was that not called roughing the kicker?

Go Canes

Timeout Wisconsin!!!

the stands literally lol'd

VA Cane

Now that is not a crybaby fan arguement......consistent call...like balls and strikes just call it consistent ....that's how it should be, call it the same call it same for both. Both teams got away with some holding....sometimes worse than others.

Borderline on kick call, but there was an Emmy for acting.....running into was the right call..he really didn't clean his ass!

Go Canes

Any contact with the punter when extended is an automatic roughing penalty.

That was the least of their sins.

It was a JOKE.

VA Cane

Thats your take friend. I really don't think it made a difference, nor did a couple hold calls that looked like holds...who knows.
Point is our so called D gave up 23 points in 7+ minutes....that kind of play couldn't possibly have had an impact on the game.

Guess everyone sees it different.

RCCF

Grey needs a position change just like Gus...
The RB's coming in will sure up the position

Our coaches: Never Mash the Gas while in the lead, and are entirely too conservative while winning....

It's Great to be Un Defeated!!

VA Cane

Whatever the excuses, (and there are folks who always have them readily available. ...its their MO), put them away they don't fit. Anbody that saw the game knows the problems if they know the game. I am just not an excuse player or coach. I work to adjust and correct problems, lets try that for a change...reality makes this easier....and takes up less oxygen.

Dude on a Pale Horse

Go Canes,

I think I posted immediately after the punt in question that Nebraska ran into the punter, no flag. It was pretty obvious from my tv while rocking my daughter to sleep. I wonder if you're talking about the same play? Did Al say anything?

Dude on a Pale Horse

Running into the punter right there.

Watch the replays-and not just on the roughing. If you're a Big 10 ref, and you're a Big Ten offense lineman, it's OK to tackle the rushers and pull them down to the ground. Watch just the fourth quarter

And somebody find me the penalties on those two touchdowns that were called back

Lur-ker

Again, had it not been for those penalties, we would be 3-0

I was thinking it was a penalty they did it on. Your right, it was on a timeout.

Miami Hurricanes Basketball: Talented Louisiana Duo Down to Canes Hoops & UMass

The Miami Hurricanes are getting ready for a big 2015 season with a deep team, but they’ll be losing a lot of talent on the team after this season. With talent departing, Jim Larranaga has already started to reload, adding transfer Rashad Muhammad and getting center Rodney Miller from Oak Hill Academy.

The ‘Canes, however, still have 4 spots left and have their sights set on a talented Louisiana duo: Point guard Dejon Jarreau and power forward Brison Gresham.

The duo are fresh off a visit to Miami and reportedly had a really good time. Early in their recruiting, people thought they were surely staying close to home and going to LSU, but that doesn’t appear like a possibility now since the duo have cut down their list to just two schools.

Miami and UMass.

Miami seems to be in pretty good shape to land the four-star point guard and the three-star power forward.

These two appear to be close to making a decision, and getting them would give Miami a huge boost in recruiting. Dewan Huell remains target number one for Miami, but he appears to be closer to Florida State than he is to Miami.

We’ll keep you updated with anything we hear.

thirstybuzzardcane

Our sideline even got a penalty because of these a-hole refs didn't know what they were doing! I forget what they did, but I know the sideline was going ape shyt!

CaneRock

If you look at that bogus holding call on Dobard, you'll see that Waters was throwing the exact type of block. Like I said, that was just a mis-match, while Waters was more evenly matched with His defender.

CaneRock

Same thing with Sonny O's bogus holding call...if you look at the other Tackle spot with Darling, you'll see that Darling slung His man to the ground.

thirstybuzzardcane

Never in my life have I seen a team get 1 warning and 2 penalties from a sideline!

Old Skool

I didn't hear the interviews.

Has Molten Golden calmed down yet?

We got a unsportsmanlike penalty because Golden complained on the roughing the punter call. It was called a 5 yard penalty instead of what it was, a 15 yard penalty and automatic 1st down.

herbieibis

Problems they can't seem to fix and the big one here is 3RD down effiency, whether on offense or defense. This has been an ongoing problem since Golden has been here. The offense has the potential to be potent but as long as DENO is running the show on defense, we better out score everyone.
They need to hit the recruiting trail hard and find some dam LB's. It took them 3 years to get a few DT's and now it's the LB position that is suffering. We just don't have a lot of play makers at that position.
