Miami Player Postgame Quotes
Michael Badgley, K/P
On the win…“It’s a big win, but I’ve always said to myself ‘take this win with a 24-hour rule. Celebrate as much as you want and then on to the next.’ We’ve got a bye week coming up and it’s time to focus on Cincinnati. Have this great win, see your mistakes and continue to be great out there. Everything is going to happen. It’s going to be fun.”
On Head Coach Al Golden giving him the game winning kick…“Him and I go back and fourth all the time. Obviously I’ll defend that guy to the world and back. He’s the greatest coach in college football and there is no question about it.”
Corn Elder, DB
On interception in overtime…“I didn’t have a receiver to my side, so I was basically just playing the field. I see them scramble and I just took off deep. He threw it and it just came right to me.”
On his performance since he has been focusing only on football instead of basketball and football…
“Just focusing on football I’ve gotten stronger, faster and my technique has gotten better.”
Artie Burns, DB
On what changed in the fourth quarter when Nebraska was making a comeback…“We just weren’t doing our job. Guys were out of coverage, not in their gap, so they were making explosive plays. That’s why you come to meetings the next day to get everything corrected.”
On losing Jamal Carter and Deon Bush for the first half of the next game…“You won’t see a drop off. I feel like we have one of the best secondaries. We’ve got Rayshawn Jenkins and Dallas Crawford back there. We’ve got Jaquan Johnson, he’s going to step up and be able to come in the game and make some plays.”
Rashawn Scott, WR
On finally being able to play…“It feels great now that the coaches could put me in the situation. I have a great quarterback to throw it to me. The receivers are doing their jobs. It feels good.”
On when Nebraska caught up…“I’m not disappointed because it’s adversity. I don’t really care because we won.”
First? Really? Ok ...GO 'Canes!

Glad we have some extra prep time before our first real road test, but it sucks not having a game to look forward to for two straight Saturdays.
Go Canes!

Good morning my fellow Canes! 3-0 is better than 2-1...I'll take it. Few thoughts...we have a great QB...our RBS look like they are going to be great. ..WRS following the same path. ..Def we know is still a work in progress. ...but, we got some ball hawks back there for the first time in a long time. These things give us a chance each game. ...just execute consistently. We, are in a conundrum. ..with AG...if we fail. .he goes...if we succeed. .he stays. ...can't have it both ways. Banners flying are not cool. ..now I hear FSU fan starting a "keep AL campaign "....could this be the impetus for our CANES to rally and finally get back that Us vs the world mentality? I can only assume. .I'm petty should light a fire within. ..my hope any way. God bless and Go CANES! !!

Interesting RZ stats:
UM's #1 in RZ scoring attempts per game...#2 in RZ scoring...& #67 in RZ scoring percentage (81.25%).

We're also #17 in Yards Per Play, with the potential to get BETTER!
Posted by: CaneRock | September 23, 2015 at 09:27 AM
CR...IMHO the way to be successful on offense in the RZ is:
1. A dominant OL.
2. A power running game/RB.
3. A go to big TE (middle) or tall jumper WR (fade to corner).
Not sure we have ANY of those YET?
Posted by: 86Cane | September 23, 2015 at 09:28 AM
CR...IMHO success on third down defense is:
1. Dominant DL, pass rush, pressure the QB.
2. LBs who can cover TEs/RBs in space.
3. Tight man coverage underneath on the outside with safeties over the top.
Not sure we do any of that either?

#1?...I think the left side of our OL is the go to side for the run game.
#2?...We don't have a big back per se, but we're doing pretty good with Yearby & Walton.
#3?...We probably don't have a go to TE, but a combo of Herndon,Dobard, and possibly Washington ain't bad. As far as jump ball WRs, I think we have several...Njoku,Cager, & Brady. And Waters is ain't that bad when He has to go up for it.

Miami has scored on 56.4 percent of its drives, which ranks eighth in FBS, but its TD rate of 33.3 percent is just 39th. The Hurricanes are finding the end zone on just 47.6 percent of their red-zone drives, 108th nationally. Since the start of 2014, only five Power 5 teams have been worse..
Posted by: canezilla | September 23, 2015 at 09:47 AM
As far as 3D defense, I can only judge off the NU game.
Armstrong's mobility threw us for a loop, His mobility allowed their offense to extend those pass plays. From a DB perspective, that's a long time to be covering a WR.
Armstrong's legs were equivalent to having an extra OLmen out there.

Posted by: 86Cane | September 23, 2015 at 10:06 AM
Zilla, I hear ya', but we were up 23 with less than 10 minutes to go, and we ended up needing an OT INT & FG to win the game. The offense did MORE THAN ENOUGH to win the game...SHEEZ!, how big of a margin does the the defense need to win a game...!
Posted by: CaneRock | September 23, 2015 at 10:07 AM
I think soup needs to ban this 86 guy.
When will you get it, you don't really "know" the game!
Posted by: Go Canes | September 23, 2015 at 10:12 AM
Also, that hurry up offense that NU ran in the 4th, teams like Cincy & Clemson run that ALL GAME LONG. Like I said, that pass rush needs to tighten up.

Go Canes...you have anything constructive to add to the convo besides DUM@$$ SMART@$$ remarks?
Posted by: CaneRock | September 23, 2015 at 10:17 AM
Don't think it's a simple as the D just playing poorly.
The penalties killed offensive drives, the targeting cost us more yards and players.
Playing without Grace, Carter and especially Bush late was huge. I absolutely agree we need to rush the passer much, much better. But I feel, well hope, the D we saw through the first 50+ minutes better indicate who we are.

Spirited conversation about the CANES...Love it. ..we all agree the Def is suspect. ..3rd down and red zone are atrocious. ...but, with chemistry. ..these can be fixed. ..or improved. CINCINNATI will be a good road test...Thursday on ESPN is BIG for their program. But, despite above mentioned flaws. ...Kaaya Yearby, Walton. .Corn...etc...give us a chance. ..I am a long time Canes fan...51 yrs young born and raised in Ft Lauderdale. ...this FSU fan campaign for "keep AL " banner. ..think of FSU fan with posters, etc...in the stands..."keep AL "...being on TV...mocking US! Could this create the "stick it to 'em" attitude we all have been dying to see once again? God bless my fellow Canes.

Developing situation: 2 Miami players reportedly involved in collision. Possibly head on. It's too early to speculate, but what I've heard doesn't sound good.
I hope it's nothing, and if it is I pray for them.

I heard head on collision, so I assumed it was auto related.
In any event, prayers are needed.
