Miami Player Postgame Quotes
Michael Badgley, K/P
On the win…“It’s a big win, but I’ve always said to myself ‘take this win with a 24-hour rule. Celebrate as much as you want and then on to the next.’ We’ve got a bye week coming up and it’s time to focus on Cincinnati. Have this great win, see your mistakes and continue to be great out there. Everything is going to happen. It’s going to be fun.”
On Head Coach Al Golden giving him the game winning kick…“Him and I go back and fourth all the time. Obviously I’ll defend that guy to the world and back. He’s the greatest coach in college football and there is no question about it.”
Corn Elder, DB
On interception in overtime…“I didn’t have a receiver to my side, so I was basically just playing the field. I see them scramble and I just took off deep. He threw it and it just came right to me.”
On his performance since he has been focusing only on football instead of basketball and football…
“Just focusing on football I’ve gotten stronger, faster and my technique has gotten better.”
Artie Burns, DB
On what changed in the fourth quarter when Nebraska was making a comeback…“We just weren’t doing our job. Guys were out of coverage, not in their gap, so they were making explosive plays. That’s why you come to meetings the next day to get everything corrected.”
On losing Jamal Carter and Deon Bush for the first half of the next game…“You won’t see a drop off. I feel like we have one of the best secondaries. We’ve got Rayshawn Jenkins and Dallas Crawford back there. We’ve got Jaquan Johnson, he’s going to step up and be able to come in the game and make some plays.”
Rashawn Scott, WR
On finally being able to play…“It feels great now that the coaches could put me in the situation. I have a great quarterback to throw it to me. The receivers are doing their jobs. It feels good.”
On when Nebraska caught up…“I’m not disappointed because it’s adversity. I don’t really care because we won.”
^^^^^And now he's playing the racial card to justify his right doings!

That racist @$$ official was equally disgusting...BUT, there was a better way to handle it than instructing players to physically attack an official.

Blog patrol must be out in full force today?!?!?

My heart fell to my feet when I saw the news. Hope Gayot is A-OK, and it was indeed for precautionary reasons. []_[]

I tell you one thing. I've umpire with hundreds of umpires over the 7 years I've been umping baseball. I have not come across one that has been disrespectful to anyone on the field. It's the parents and coaches that are the problem. So I would bet my life that that ref didn't say anything racial.

Tag that cs zilla
Posted by: Lur-ker | September 23, 2015 at 03:41 PM
Oh I agree Thirsty, parents & coaches are a big problem in youth & HS sports. BUT, in officiating, just like any other profession, there are a few rotten apples that can give the whole profession a bad rap. Just because you don't see an ump that's disrespectful, doesn't mean they don't EXIST!...THEY DO!
Posted by: CaneRock | September 23, 2015 at 03:50 PM
^^^^True.....the truth will come out if this ref had any incidents in his past. I'm sure his fella refs know if this guy is a hot head or not.

What makes that call more bogus, is the holdee wasn't in position to make a play before, or after the alleged hold.
Posted by: CaneRock | September 23, 2015 at 04:19 PM
I purchased tickets for the Clemson game and I'm definitely predicting an UPSET.
If the Canes WIN, it will be an UPSET because Clemson is favored to win the ACC.
If the Canes LOSE, I will be UPSET because I paid $200 a piece for the tickets!

absolutely no evidence anything racist came from the refs mouth. Idiot coach and players trying to cover their ass.
Posted by: USAFCane | September 23, 2015 at 05:03 PM
I'll reserve judgement on who said what but I find it difficult to believe any ref who dropped racist bombs would have survived that long officiating games.
Posted by: Go Canes | September 23, 2015 at 05:15 PM
Sounds like great news about Gayot.....hope he's back soon. He's going to be pretty good once he understands the defense more.
Posted by: thirstybuzzardcane | September 23, 2015 at 05:23 PM
Great news about Gayot.
To assume that the ref actually said those things is all kinds of wrong. Best to wait until more info comes out. If true, then ban him from refereeing kids. Until then, the process should play out.

And you have absolutely no evidence that those 2 players didn't hear it. They outted their coach as the orchestrator of the attack, the same coach who later admitted to orchestrating the attack, so why would they lie about the ref hurling racial slurs...

Posted by: CaneRock | September 23, 2015 at 06:24 PM
????????
Ohhhh, I don't know, maybe because they're the ones that actually committed the crime, and are trying to avoid felony charges, and being expelled from school, and a bunch of other reasons. But other than that, they have no reason to lie.
I mean, come on, CR.
Posted by: Lurker | September 23, 2015 at 06:30 PM
If the Refs called those kids n***** then the refs deserve those two hits. F@@K him

Riiiiiight, and the coach went along with it to commit career suicide? Seriously Lurker?
Posted by: CaneRock | September 23, 2015 at 06:58 PM
Anyways, I'm through with this discussion, these discussions don't end up in good places.

Yep, especially now that you know I have a pair of Club Level seats for half that amount.
Posted by: KYcane | September 23, 2015 at 07:00 PM
My understanding is they first said they attacked the ref because of a racial slur, but later said it was on orders from their coach as retaliation for a previous ejection of a player.
Makes their claim harder to believe in my opinion.

Interesting:
@MrCFB: CFB Rules Committee voted to adopt NFL rule (1 yard for OL downfield). But NCAA Oversight Committee tabled it. http://t.co/CAJk29wlUS

Miami playing moles in lady's volley ball on ESPNU right now. They hate each other. I guess football affects every other sport too.
Posted by: AfriCane | September 23, 2015 at 07:13 PM
Yes, leave it alone CR. you've obviously already made up your mind about what happened and I'm not going to change that. I would just suggest that you look at things with an open mind, but that's up to you.
Posted by: Lurker | September 23, 2015 at 08:08 PM
Agreed Lurker, fair enough.
Posted by: CaneRock | September 23, 2015 at 08:55 PM
Glad to hear that Gayot is ok. I thought he was coming along nicely in an area of serious need and little depth- LB. I hope he makes a full recovery

"An ambulance arrived first and, per protocol, would have made the call for the trauma helicopter."
^^^^^^^^^^ That's what I figured, ain't no air ambo gonna come out there on a zero trip.
Posted by: CaneRock | September 23, 2015 at 02:53 PM
It's not an ambulance.. It's a rescue!! 2 different things! The helicopters are called when it would take too long to get a patient to a hospital by ground. Not necessarily because of the extent of the injury. Glad he's gonna be ok!!

From what I saw the real difference between the first 50 minutes and the end for the defense was that Nebraska stopped dropping passes. If they had caught their passes in the beginning the score would have been very close
Posted by: Jsy | September 23, 2015 at 10:54 PM
JSY- maybe, but what caught my eye was how wide open their WR's were. They didn't make too many spectacular catches, it was simply too easy for them at the end. We did force a few of the drops early on.

An oil well?!
I wonder what the rate would be now for a player of his caliber?
"My friend, we are offering you 10 points off of the gross of the next Star Wars film, plus a new Apple car!"

Bearcats’ redshirt junior quarterbackGunner Kiel left the game Saturday against Miami of Ohio after sustaining a concussion in the third quarter. His status is unknown as Cincinnati heads into a Thursday-night game against Memphis....
Posted by: laquinton | September 24, 2015 at 02:05 AM
Racial slurs don't justify assault. It's 2015, assault = crime, slurs = words.
Besides, it all seems like CYA to me.
Happy to hear about Gayot. Best wishes for a full recovery.
