Junior cornerback Artie Burns was named ACC Defensive Back of the Week following the Miami Hurricanes’ 30-20 victory over Virginia Tech Saturday afternoon at Sun Life Stadium.
Burns received the award after he tallied a career-high two interceptions, including one late in the fourth quarter, which helped seal the Hurricanes win over the Hokies.
Burns currently leads the team with five interceptions on the year. His five picks are the most by a Hurricane since Sean Taylor had 10 in 2003. In addition, Burns’ five interceptions ranks fifth nationally.
The Hurricanes return home this weekend as they welcome sixth-ranked Clemson to Sun Life Stadium. Kickoff is set for Noon and will be aired nationally on ABC.

Go Canes, very true. In my opinion however, Kirby was handed the job. Young is clearly a better player. Out of HS I thought Kirby was going to be a very good LB, he was fast coming out of HS. I think his weight gain actually hurt him and slowed him down. I don't like that it hurts our depth, but addition by subtraction at least gets better players on the field.

I agree with most of this, but if we had some better game planning, adjustments, schemes and in-game decision making...we wouldn't have been in a position to NEED a play late in the 4th. Don't forget we had significantly better talent than all but one or two of our losses the last few years. We're talking about losses to the likes of VA, not Alabama.

If if was 5th...
Close or blowout doesn't matter. A loss is a loss. Folden always loses these games. The same problems always occur. Defense starts good but offense stumbles out of the gate or vice versa. Folden won't change the D, so Clemson's QB will go tasmanian devil on us. Like all good teams with a QB does. The offense will be consistantly inconsistant like it always is. Special teams will radiate the fukkery of it's coach(Folden) like it always does. So close or not a loss is coming like it always does against a legit top 25 team.
Clemson's playmakers will have plenty of room to operate against the Golden shower zone. They'll be wide open all day. Our D-line will be reading as their RB's zip by them before they react. Coley will call stupid plays at stupid times. He won't exploit his talents named Scott and Coley. He'll throw to Brady in the redzone. Bubble screens, false starts and runs that don't work. OH MY!
Do we have a any given Saturday chance? The dead clock is right twice a day chance? Yeah... But don't bet money you can't afford to lose on it.
It's duck season and Folden is the 1 duck that would get got by Elmer Fudd...
I still hope we win.

Gaines started playing MLB as a Sr..
Notice a pattern here?
We haven't had a multi-year starter at MLB since Gaines graduated.

Hope the Canes practice to stop the option run against Clemson. Both FSU and V-Tech had success with option sweeps. Expect Clemson to try to do the same thing.

Posted by: WWIN | October 21, 2015 at 12:08 PM
Go Canes,
Butch Davis wins against teams that finished in the top 25 from 95-99
1995: 35-24 over #22 Syracuse
1996: 38-31 over #21 Syracuse
1998: 49-45 over #8 UCLA
1999: 28-13 over #17 Georgia Tech
I count 4 wins in big games over ranked opponents.
You said he lost every big game! ('o')
400% more than your precious Golden shower, that has NONE...
Also, Butch finished ranked every year at the "U" except 97.
Once again. Comparing them is futile. Butch had much more success. It makes you seem stupid. Stop it...
I think Folden pushed your shyt in so far up your azz, he's using you for a puppet...
Posted by: CoCane | October 20, 2015 at 04:07 PM
LOL... Even that ONION HEAD had wins over ranked opponents, which FINISHED the season in the Top 25.
Again, the Golden GROUPIES simply have a strange INFATUATION with the Carpetbagger. SMH Because they go to great lengths to defend Golden. Even when the evidence says that Golden is a Fourth-Tier head coach, whom should be coaching in the MAC or the Sun Belt or Mountain West conferences.

Under the beloved Golden, a lot of players have been ' handed ' the starting position over relatively better players.
No wonder LB Paul fled for Salt Lake City. He knew he would never be a starter under Golden. Now Paul is starting for the NO. 4 ranked team in the nation. Go figure.

The O-line should have been punished after the third game of the season. In other words, clean that chit up before it becomes a mountain of stanky chit. But then again, Golden is still the Chief down in Coral Gables.

Ohio, I second that. I think this is another instance where Golden leaves us scratching our head about how one guy was playing in front of another. I think this is a clear upgrade. Kirby takes horrible angles and appears slow.
Posted by: GoldenHomer | October 21, 2015 at 09:25 AM
This becomes apparent under AG. The best analogy I can come up with is a lightening bolt. With Young, you're like "wow, where did that come from". It's shocking because you haven't seen it all season with the lesser player who starts and it is glaring what has been missing.
I have a feeling, we'll get some of that if Grey get's some carries. Yearby has had some great moments but there is something missing.

So if I point out this is a steaming pile of nonsense, completely fabricated by someone who constantly posts things as fact when he actually just makes it up as he goes along, is that me "defending Golden"?
Or is it pointing out this dude is full of it?
Gionni Paul started 7 games as a freshman here and likely would have been a 4 year starter here if HE hadn't screwed it up by getting suspended multiple times. For the record he readily admits he messed up and did a lot off growing up after that.
We've got enough real issues without adding the made up things don't you think?

TMJ,
It's hilariously ignorant to try to spin Folden's garbage results in a way that makes Butch look as if he was just as bad...
Were the fans just as upset at the time? Just about. The program had just been a title contender for over a decade the year before Butch got there. 4 titles during that span. So finishing in the top 25 4 out of 5 years, with a losing season sandwiched in between seemed like the end of the world for most fans. It was unrealistic considering the "real devastating sanctions". We were spoiled as a fan base back then.
But now...
If Folden had Butch's resume right now, he wouldn't have been on the hot seat coming into this season.
His wouldn't have gotten hot until this season's loss to Cincy and a 5th consecutive loss to FSU...
Posted by: CoCane | October 21, 2015 at 12:59 PM
I'd argue Walton should get more carries than Yearby. The fact that Gray isn't getting any is just strange at this point. He must have risen to the occasion or something.
The other player I'd like to see more of is Moten.
Posted by: USAFCane | October 21, 2015 at 12:59 PM
I maintain that Golden has too big of a heart and it pains him to tell an older player that a younger player is starting over them, or getting more playing time.
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | October 21, 2015 at 01:04 PM
Look what the Dolphins did last weekend, they simplified the defense. I read somewhere where the only used a total of 10 plays in their playbook the whole game.
This is exactly what the Canes need to do! This defense is too complicated for college kids! Let these kids use their talents!
Posted by: thirstybuzzardcane | October 21, 2015 at 01:04 PM
Go Canes,
You're right about Paul but you make up shyt too...
I do agree with you about upsetting Clemson. I think this is arguably Folden's best chance to knock off a top 10 team. Clemson has dropped the ball against teams they should beat before. There is a chance Dabo can out Folden, Folden...
I still don't see it though
Posted by: CoCane | October 21, 2015 at 01:07 PM
This defense ain't complicated. It's just stupid. Any defense that isn't based on attacking the backfield up front relentlessly, having the LB's aggressively use their athleticism, playing tight coverage in the secondary is stupid and will fail. The proof is in the pudding...

I don't make things up.
Pointing out Butch won a bowl games against GT and Syracuse as "big wins" then having people saying beating VT makes no sense.
If we beat SC in our bowl last year no one would be posting anything different on here today
Like I said I'm not dogging Butch, he is the man.
But revisionist history is rampant when it comes to the reality of how the majority of his tenure was here.
