With unprecedented excitement surrounding the 2015-16 University of Miami men’s basketball team, Hurricane fans have responded in record numbers, already setting a new program high for most season tickets sold.
Fewer than 1,000 seats are still available for sale, after accounting for seats sold as season tickets plus those held for current UM students and team use.
"When we first arrived at Miami, we were told it would be tough to sell out the BankUnited Center and it would be hard to build a basketball fan base," said Head Coach Jim Larrañaga. "But in four short years, we have set all kinds of records with both sellout crowds and student attendance."
Season ticket pricing for remaining seats start at $249, following a sellout in the $130 sections. Click here to view remaining availability and pricing or call 1-800-GO-CANES to order by phone.
Due to record season ticket sales, seats may not be available on a single-game basis."It's exciting to see our fans and the local community rally around our men's basketball team," said Jason Layton, Senior Associate Athletics Director for Sales & Communications.
"With fewer than 1,000 seats remaining for sale, a month before we've played our first game, we could very reasonably sell out each of our ACC games if not the entire season."
The 17-game home schedule opens on Nov. 13 and includes a non-conference matchup with Florida on Dec. 8 plus ACC contests against Duke, Syracuse, Louisville, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh and two-time defending ACC Regular Season Champion, Virginia.
Ranked No. 21 in the latest CBS Sports Preseason Top-25 poll, the Hurricanes return the core lineup from a squad that advanced to the championship game of the 2015 NIT, including seniors Angel Rodriguez, Tonye Jekiri and Sheldon McClellan, who was among the 20 players named to the watch list for the 2016 Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award.
"This is going to be a fun year and we are excited to hear that our fans are getting behind this team even before the games begin by purchasing season tickets in huge numbers," Larrañaga said. "Our players and coaches are working extremely hard to take Miami basketball to the next level."

You can't make this stuff up:
Joe Philbin (and UM’s Al Golden, for that matter) are big on slogans; Philbin hung them all over the Dolphins facility and UM – under Golden – pasted inspirational quotes from Golden, Bill Belichick, Rick Pitino and others near urinals, sinks, hallways, etc.
http://miamiherald.typepad.com/sports-buzz/2015/10/dan-campbell-trying-more-creative-touches-behind-the-scenes-dolphins-heat-nuggets-um-president-asked.html
Urinals? Really?
If going to the bathroom feels like "brick by brick" to you, better change your diet or go see a doctor. This message has been brought to you by Al Golden. Oh my.

Makes me wonder. Because coaching matters only up to a point.
You're either a self- motivated person or you're not. A coach can't ever motivate an unmotivated person if they don't have it in them. And what I seem to be seeing in Colin is complacency. Losing your mojo is on you, not the coach. The team is way worse without Harbaugh, but Kapernick sucking is on him. Zero leadership.
Posted by: Lurker | October 22, 2015 at 10:52 PM
Yes and no because people change. CK might no longer be motivated after losing his HC. The military changes unmotivated people into motivated people all the time, I've seen it. When some guys get out, they lose it, other guys keep it forever. A great leader (which is what a HC is) like Harbaugh motivates everyone and everything they touch. When everyone is selling out for the HC, and the HC knows how to win, everyone plays better. The whole system is gone. Yes they've lost players and that matters, but more than anything they've lost the way they do business and in certain endeavors this means almost everything. It's why certain coaches can turn everything around so quickly. Look at Alex Smith, JH saved his career. Harbaugh wins because he's obsessed with winning.

The part (player) might still be good, but if the machine (team) is broken, it's hard to tell what's wrong. Likewise, when the machine is humming, the parts all look good. A great mechanic (HC) builds great machines getting the most out of their parts. Without a great mechanic, well you might as well be driving a 2016 Kia. Lol.

But in a macro sense, teams with a lot of athletes who move fast and play hard are going to get flagged more often.
The Power 5 teams with the most penalties since Golden was hired at Miami are Oregon, Baylor, UCLA, Texas Tech, USC, Washington, Cal, Florida, Virginia Tech and Florida State. The Canes rank just a tick worse than Ohio State and just a bit better than Georgia in terms of total penalties.
And so the problem for Miami isn’t that they’re getting flagged, because plenty of good teams get flagged. The problem is that Miami hasn’t won enough -- with or without penalties -- for Golden to avoid being blamed for the flags.

^^^ What kind of penalties also? I don't think false starts on the first snap are because someone plays fast and hard. Okay targeting, sure, pass interference whatever, even offsides could all be from playing hard and fast. We just dont know what the hell is going on.

Trayvon Mullen recently decided he'd take an unofficial visit to LSU this weekend to watch the Tigers' homecoming game against Western Kentucky. He'll fly out to Baton Rouge Friday morning instead of checking out the UM-Clemson game like he originally planned.
On top of FSU and LSU, Mullen figures he'll take official visits to Clemson and TCU and will have to figure out a fifth. He wants to knock out a decision in January.
Binjimen Victor still insists his recruitment is wide open.
He's already taken official visits to West Virginia and most recently Ohio State, and says Tennessee, Florida, Louisville and Auburn are all in the mix for his last three official visits.
Victor plans to make his decision at the U.S. Army All-American Game. He discusses all of the above, his three touchdowns on Thursday plus hanging out with Sam Bruce in Columbus, Ohio in the video interview below with the Miami Herald.

There's only so much a good sales pitch or networking can do when you're not winning.
Just check the sports media: You'll barely find anything on the Hurricanes if you check SI, ESPN, or Yahoo on the web. Even Temple is getting more media attention than us these days, and it pains me to say, rightfully so.
We have to start the big ones like tomorrow (undefated top 5 team) and if we do, go on to win the other games as well.

CIS:
What happened to the power running game.
No I formation. No Ace. No lead blocker. We run a limited amount of pistol but we telegraph everything. Every pistol run is off tackle., predominately to the right. Every shotgun is always to the opposite side of where he is lined up and is almost always to the right.

I'm here in Houston and we are bracing for torrential rainfall this weekend. Forecast up to 17 inches in Austin, 10+ through San Antonio. Houston might escape it if the models are correct (a lot can change), but keeping my fingers crossed. I can only imagine what Mexico is going through now. What a disaster.

I was thinking something similar to this the other day. Golden has used the phrase "got to be multiple" when speaking of his defense (which I think may have been an attempt to justify his failed system) but on offense we don't see it. We are very telling on offense. We run a read option, with no option. The only option I see is to hit the slant, but its only a matter of time before opposing DB's jump this play.
Does anyone remember a couple years back when we used a formation with Malcolm Lewis as the only WR split out wide? EVERY time in that formation, we ran the ball. If an every day fan like myself knew it was coming you can bet other teams did. Definitely think something needs to be added, to predictable
Posted by: GoldenHomer | October 23, 2015 at 09:25 AM
Yep, Willis was the heart of that defense, but as I understand it ownership let several good players go, and couldn't get along with the coach. SF went from looking almost unbeatable in the NFC 2 years ago, to a bottom tier team.
Also, Kap has gone from looking hard to looking soft, and it's not just coaching. Some people don't handle fame and riches well.
It's early and anything can happen, but right now, Cam Newton is looking like the NFC MVP, after 6 games. Other than Olsen, there's not a lot of weapons on that team and they haven't lost. At the end of the season, I think you're looking at GB, Seattle will come back, possibly/probably Carolina if Cam stays healthy, Giants (don't see Philly &'Dallas) from the East, maybe Atlanta & one other.
AFC is a little harder to predict other than NE.

If Dallas can just hang around until Romo gets back, they can be alright, especially in the NFC East. The AFC belongs to the Patriots, everyone else needs to prove it.
