Terrance Sullivan

Thanks KYCANE, 86, and OldSkool. Hope our Canes get this win against Clemson. Go Canes! Beat Clemson!

Sinistercane

I'll be there in 15 minutes

VA Cane

Huge crowd at JMU in Harrisonburg VA. I do have 10 guys playing 5 each side.....very proud of them...some good ones playing.

Hope all our Canes in SW are safe, we are thinking of you praying for you and families.

I lost a good friend Monday night. His name was Howard Leibavitz...a grand old boy from Chicago. ..the crazy Jew. I met him at a record show...we are huge vinyl collectors...rabid. He loved the 50's Buddy Holly Elvis the old soul Booker T MGs Otis Aretha....loved baseball and football....knew his stuff read all the time. Worked with the VA....Vietnam era guys most of time....had a way. He died in Dallas. I loved him very much. We would talk sports records life for hours...send text of new vinyl discoveries. He will be missed so much, part of me is gone.

We must protect BK. We must run well....100+. We must use TEs backs in pass game. No turnovers...get turnovers. Red zone need TDs. Must convert 3rd 60+ %....stupid penalties no no. Block tackle.....fundamentals all 3 phases. ...aggression passion.

Show me something today

Go Canes

Ok let's hold them to 34 or less!!!!!

@ByTimReynolds: This is one of those stats that when you chart it you say it can't be right, but is Clemson really 201-3 all-time when scoring 35 points?

Schnelly

On our way. Years go we'd already be a few beers in with a roadie for the car ride. Real stupid when we think about it now though. We knew better, we were stupid kids and fortunately never hurt anybody or ourselves. Then we wised up and got season tickets for our friend Ken. Big Canes fan and better yet, a non drinker! Now we had a DD. Well, we all grew older and moved our separate ways. We still meet up a few times a year to go to games. We still drink and party way too much, but mostly after the games now. Thanks for keeping us safe those few seasons Kenny, but fuck you for picking us up in your wife's goddamn, mutherfucking, piece of shit soccer mom van!

The goalpost hasn't changed in my view. Win the Coastal, at the very least. If they want guaranteed safety, win the ACC. Also, don't dare lose the bowl game.

Posted by: Lurker | October 23, 2015 at 02:39 PM

That's reasonable. And if he did all that I assume he changed his philosophy, which he needs to do. The problem comes in when he falls short of that and the powers that be rationalize some reason to keep him.

Posted by: 1mg of Epi | October 23, 2015 at 03:29 PM

And to clarify, it's reasonable to consider keeping Al if we wins the coastal, ACC and a bowl game. NOT just for winning the coastal. It ooukd all be moot though, the admin is content w bowl games.

Don't Shoot The Messenger But...

Might as well just bury this program right now.

Feldman: Mario Cristobal is ‘Most Viable Option’ to Replace Al Golden
Brian FlanaganOctober 23, 2015
It’s me, Mario!

Fox Sports’ Bruce Feldman speculated on who the next Miami Hurricanes head coach could be if the program parts ways with Al Golden in the coming months.

The Miami grad’s most viable option? Mario Cristobal, a current assistant coach under Nick Saban at Alabama.

“In light of Al Golden — who I don’t think is a bad coach, I just think he’s a bad fit at Miami — I think it’s imperative Miami hire somebody with deep connections to South Florida,” Feldman said on his Fox Sports podcast, “and a real grasp of what Miami is and what Miami has been about and that’s why I would say to me Mario Cristobal was my most viable option there. He’s a guy who was a starting offensive lineman and won national titles at Miami. He was an assistant at Miami. He also has head coaching experience because he turned around what was the worst FBS program at FIU, got them to a bowl game. They won a bowl game. Then they had all kinds of issues with the administration. He is a great recruiter on Nick Saban’s staff and he’s more plugged into South Florida than any coach in college football. I would say he’s on top of my list and he would also not cost a fortune.

“I don’t know if Rob Chudzinski, who was a former Miami player and has been in the NFL a lot. He’s very well respected by a lot of the old Miami players. I think he’s somebody they would consider. Greg Schiano coached there. I’m not sure how much support Greg would have but I think he’d be a better fit than Al Golden was.”

Feldman’s dream scenario? “I would want Jimmy Johnson to come back.”

Been said on here countless times, winning cures everything.

Win this game and we're likely in the Top 25 with our destiny for the season and in recruiting in our own hands.

Posted by: Go Canes | October 23, 2015 at 06:39 AM

The problem is that we've been saying basically the same thing week after week, year after year. Every game against a decent opponent we say is his last chance. FSU was a supposed must win. He's just not capable. Some would say "well, we'll find out soon enough.", but the reality is we've already found out. Over and over.

All we've been doing is moving the goalpost.

Lurker

That's great news. There are hundreds of miles to cross before it reaches Texas, so it would make sense it's not a hurricane when it gets there. Land and mountains are definitely your best friend with hurricanes. Still will probably be a super nasty low-storm though I'll bet

With the exception of GT & UVA, you can throw the 40 part of that 40/20 rule out the window...ain't happenin'. The last part of the season's gonna come down to DEFENSE...YIKES!

It's been my experience that a person that's internally unmotivated doesn't respond. Coaches can coach people that they can get through to. Which isn't everybody. That's why coaches get rid of players or sit their asses down. In business, those are the people you fire. They constantly bitch and don't get anything done, and take up too much of your time.

Posted by: Lurker | October 23, 2015 at 11:35 AM
And its been mine, as a coach and as the father of athletes (as well as the uncle of others), that a poor coach is responsible for team-wide lethargy, or lack of attention to detail, or inconsistent effort. Coaches, business management, etc. can't make people pay attention. But there are very few people in any occupation or sport who won't respond to anyone. I coached 31 girls in 3 seasons this year, only 3 (occasionally) wouldn't respond to anyone when they weren't getting their way.
Kap isn't playing well for a number of reasons. Defenses have figured out his strengths and his team isn't even close to the same unit he had two years ago. I wouldn't be surprised if he is cut in June, not because he isn't working but simply because he isn't that good. But if he were the only problem on the team, the Niners would sit him and start Gabbert.

Depends on the message and who's delivering it. "Don't rise to the occasion" & "trust your training" doesn't get through to ANYBODY.

Besides, EVERY player is DIFFERENT, their's no one size fits all approach.

External motivation MATTERS, some guys are good at it, some aren't.

He was just as famous when he was balling. Barring some personal issues we don't know about, the only thing that changed is the coaching. Coaching is a huge part of football.

Look at what the Dolphins did w a new coach and 2 weeks.

Go Canes

We're 13-25 run on 3rd down over our last few games.

IMO the biggest reason, not the only one certainly, for our pathetic conversion rate has been our continual inability to avoid 3rd and long because of penalty.

If we can manage down and distance tomorrow we'll be there at the end with a shot to win It.

USAFCane

You know what bothers me is ND being so powerful that they benefit from being full ACC member in college basketball's premier conference but does not have to be a full time football members.

Worst of all, even their part time membership helps the weak ACC in football.

Oh well.

USAFCane

D’Onofrio said. “Be ready for your moment. You make plays by being prepared. You don’t make plays because you’re a so-called playmaker.”

versus

Santana Moss "Big time players make big time plays in big time games"

In the end it is this staff's approach to football that will lead to their demise. They are not Miami coaches.
