Senior Angel Rodriguez hit three 3-pointers and added a career-high 11 assists to help No. 15 Miami beat No. 24 Duke 80-69 Monday night, the Blue Devils' fourth loss in five games.
Rodriguez scored 13 points for the Hurricanes, who led for the final 24 minutes. Sheldon McClellan scored 21 points and benefited from Rodriguez's most spectacular assist late in the game. Brandon Ingram led Duke with 19 points and 10 rebounds while Grayson Allen added 17 points but shot just 6 for 17.
Miami (16-3, 5-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) beat a ranked team for the third time this season, and won by double digits for the 15th time.
Rodriguez came into the game 4 for 30 from 3-point range in league games but went 3 for 5 from beyond the arc in the first half to help Miami take the lead for good.
His best play earned a late assist. Duke (15-6, 4-4) was mounting a rally when Rodriguez dribbled quickly through the defense in transition and tossed an alley-oop pass on the run to McClellan for a dunk and a 64-55 lead.
Tonye Jekiri, Miami's 7-foot center, contributed assists from the perimeter on consecutive possessions to keep a cushion down the stretch. McClellan scored six points in the final 2 minutes.
Duke came into the game ranked fifth in the nation in scoring at 85.7 points but continued a recent offensive slump. They shot only 42 percent and went 6 for 20 from 3-point range.
The Blue Devils missed nine consecutive shots, including five in one possession, during an 8-1 Hurricanes run that put them ahead 45-35.
The Hurricanes' man-to-man defense didn't let Duke get to the free throw line much, either. The Blue Devils average nearly 26 free throws a game but went just 13 for 17.
Ja'Quan Newton scored 15 points to help Miami's bench outscore Duke's 21-7. Davon Reed added 14 points, and Jekiri had 10 rebounds, six offensive.
Richards said he loved in-home visit tonight w/ Miami HC Mark Richt: "He has my best interests at heart."

CMR is slowly putting together a pretty good recruiting class. CMR has a few more surprises before and on NSD. This class is already better than any class since 2012, and this class might end up deeper in terms of quality. CMR is creating momentum heading into NSD and he is closing the deals all over.
By the way, my guess is that Duggans' mysterious tweet was a message to encourage and inspire a recruit who has haters because of his interest or commitment to the Canes.

No recruit, including Richards, could ever say this about Saban. CMR is genuine. The love his UGA players showed when he left says it all - CMR is authentic and means what he says

UMike, WR Kelvin Harmon just announced a Top 2 and its Miami vs NC State. I left him off our list because I'm pretty sure he's a Plan B for Richards. I guess we should pick for him too? He's announcing on Monday

Interesting quote from Rivals interview on Richt offense
This is from a Bama commitment at WR that is looking to visit UM this weekend. It is a quote from and interview on Rivals.
"He was saying how they're going to run stuff there, that they're trying to change the program around, make it moreso the old Miami, how the old Miami was winning, make it a winning program," Simmons said. "He told me he'll be running the offense how he did at Florida State and when he first got to Georgia, that they only have five wide receivers on scholarship right now, have a need for receivers, that I have great chance coming in there and playing."

Tyler Simmons 'Bama WR commit potentially visiting this week
Per Rivals
Anything can happen in the final crazy days of recruiting.
Certainly that's what UM is banking on when it comes to Powder Springs (Ga.) McEachern High School WR Tyler Simmons.
An Alabama commitment, the Canes worked tirelessly this month to land a visit from the 3-star prospect. Now that might just come to fruition.
"It's still in the air - I'll know tomorrow," Simmons told CaneSport Thursday night.
He was planning to take the visit ... but then 'Bama coaches got wind of it.
"Alabama came to the house today and talked about it," Simmons said."You know how they are when somebody's committed taking a visit. They're pissed off."
So now it's wait and see.
If he does go ahead and visit Mark Richt has a chance to work his magic and win over a recruit from 'Bama.
Asked if the Canes have a chance to land him in just a few days, Simmons said, "That's why I'm going out there. I don't know much about it other than what they've told me. I have to see it for myself."
Cane coaches have told him plenty so far. He says they stay in daily contact, and Richt took an in-home visit with him a week ago.
Thomas Brown and Ron Dugans also visited Simmons.
"They were talking about me coming and seeing the campus and everything," Simmons said. "I know coach Brown from when he was recruiting me to Georgia, and I first met coach Dugans heading into my junior year at a camp."
Of where his recruitment stands overall, Simmons said, "I'm mainly committed to Alabama right now, but I'm looking at Miami. And Georgia is still heavily recruiting me too (he visited there officially earlier this month), so we'll see how that goes."
Simmons says ... assuming he goes ahead with the visit plans ... that he'll take the UM trip with his father and stepmother.

Mortgage Rates Hit 3 Month lows
January 28, 2016
Mortgage rates moved down modestly today, but it was enough to bring them to the lowest levels seen in exactly 3 months. There were only a few days in October where rates were any lower and before that, you'd have to go all the way back to April to do any better. The improvements were generally still seen in the form of upfront costs as opposed to the actual contract rates themselves.
Most lenders remain in a range of 3.75-3.875% on conventional 30yr fixed quotes for top tier scenarios.

Go, that was my intention.
Honestly, the bold pronouncements about richt without having even coached this kids yet are so grand. We say the same things about every coach.
