These are some of the recruits that UM is looking to sign in the next few days.
Jacoby Brissett (QB)– Choosing between Wisconsin and Miami. Miami got into the game very late but has a pretty good chance to land this guy. Mom wants the hometown Hurricanes but the relationship with Wisconsin coaches it what Wisconsin has over The U. Possibly announcing on NSD but not sure. News came out a couple days ago that Sousa and Weatherford were never offered scholarships and have chosen programs. The fact that these 2 were never offered means Golden and staff must feel pretty good about where they are sitting with Brissett.
Tom Savage (QB Transfer)– Just cleared by Rutgers coach Schiano to pursue a transfer to UM or UF. Savage would be forced to sit out 2011 and would then be eligible for 2012 and 2013. He would provide some good depth and possibly challenge for a starting role in 2012 if Morris can not succeed.
Dominique Terrell (ATH) – Choosing between Miami, Virginia, and West Virginia. Lives in Virginia so staying near home could very well be his choice. Terrell did love his visit to UM. Supposedly he has to talk it over with the family. His family really wants to watch him play football and being in Miami that could be an issue. Decision coming Tuesday.
Kaleb Johnson (OL)– Loves UM and waited to see who we hire as OL Coach.
Devin Lucien (WR) – This kid liked his visit and Miami gave him a lot to think about. Supposedly choosing between UCLA and Miami. Lucien lives in California so Miami has distance against them. UCLA is favored.
Patrick Onwuasor (WR)– Choosing among Miami, Arizona and Arizona St. He will make his announcement on NSD. He also liked his visit to Miami and is also from the West Coast.
Jalen Grimble (DT/DE) – Was a USC commit but it was rumored that his scholarship to USC was pulled and he opened up his recruitment again. Now he will be choosing between UCLA and Miami. Grimble loved his Miami visit but this is another California kid and distance may be to much to overcome. Lots of rumors flying around that he skipped his UCLA visit last weekend. Washington could also possibly be in the picture.
Elkino Watson (DT)– This is a Booker T kid and hopefully will choose the hometown Canes. Rumored to have dropped Florida from his list which would be good because as far as I know he is down to UF and UM.
Marqise Lee (ATH)– Most likely will be looking to play WR if he does indeed picks Miami. This kid is from California and has in his top 3 – Miami, USC, and the Oregon Ducks. Has kept his recruitment decently quiet but Miami seems like an underdog for this athlete.
My picks – I think UM ends up with Brissett, Terrell and Johnson and anything past that would be an amazing job by Coach Golden.
There is no question that Al Golden has shown that he can compete nationally in recruiting but unfortunately he had a small window of time to patch together a class this year. Even with this short time though, Golden has landed some talented, under the radar kids.
I am NOT pointing my bat towards the outfield and calling my shot on this, BUT....It is possible that we win the NC this coming year. Nobody saw the Suckeyes doing it a year ago.
Richt has a fire in his belly the likes of which these players have never seen. If they get ahold of that fire, it is all over, we end up #1

Notice you didn't mention one of the GOATs, in Saban, and his records the first year at several institutions.

Yeah I was talking in recent years if that's okay with you... not the distant past! Larry Scott seemed to do okay with this same team... Smart Mark can't? Isn't Smart Mark known for winning double digit regular season games? Coaching staff is upgraded at EVERY position right? We won eight games last year with poor coaching... this coaching staff isn't good enough for two more wins?
Far as talent at OSU compared to UM... we had the most projected draftable players than ANY team in the COUNTRY besides fsu! And we play in the ACC COASTAL!!!

But they are super cool looking

Look at what Larry Scott did after Goldie was kicked to the curb, he lit a pilot light in those kids. If Larry Scott can do that, what can Richt do? If they get ahold of what he's got....it's all over.

What's good Legion/Canespace? Signing Day is right around the corner and there are probably a few silence commitments that may not be on everybody's radar/list waiting to pull a hat from underneath the table and announce they "taking their talent to South Beach," via FIU, lol.

With improved blocking and the result = more of a run game. ...Yearby Walton the Bus. ..gray...homer..?
...Kaaya can be great. ..but the beauty of improving the OL...means he wouldn't have to be. ..just have great moments in the game.
God bless you and Go Canes! ! ! !

Oh, Jesus Christ. U too? SMDH
Kaaya's not even good now? FOH
This kid has thrown for over 6,400 yards, 42 TDs, and 17 INTs in 2 years at Miami and he's not even GOOD?? LOL
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | January 29, 2016 at 12:40 PM
Go, that wasn't my intentions. But I'm reading some big pronouncements about richt and he hasn't coached one down yet. I hear the same thing about every new coach we get. I mean, is a 'wait and see' attitude too hard to adopt?
Posted by: AfriCane | January 29, 2016 at 05:18 AM
Nope, it is smart to be cautious after the last 3 we've had!

Agreed, but he's shown he has some elite skills, the judgment is what he hasn't always shown. Unfortunately we could have said the same thing about Kyle Wright for his first two years.

Kaaya needs 3,129 yards next year to pass Ken Dorsey on the all-time yardage list. In other words, do exactly what he did the last 2 years (3138, 3298).
Yeah, he's not even GOOD. LULZ
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | January 29, 2016 at 12:50 PM
WWIN...you're my boy and all, but way of base on this one IMO. Imagine the numbers with a qualified OC/HC and an OL.
Under Richt he will be the best QB in the ACC next year, imo hands down
Posted by: UMike | January 29, 2016 at 12:55 PM
Eliminate the mistakes his teammates made in the last bowl that directly took points off the board and it's a blowout.
Kaaya is a great player.
Posted by: Go Canes! | January 29, 2016 at 12:59 PM
Kaaya is going to pass KEN DORSEY in yardage. Let that sink in...
Now remember the difference in talent Dorsey worked with compared to Kaaya. OL, WR, TE (TE is close, actually), and coaching staff. BIG difference.

Besides maybe passing attempts and completions, which records do they hold?
Yes, stats can be deceiving. We all get that. But U said he's not even GOOD. ANYONE who can throw for 6,400 yards in 2 seasons of college football is GOOD. Kyle Wright threw for like 4,000 in 2 years.
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | January 29, 2016 at 01:11 PM
This is my opinion... but a LOT of people feel the same way I do!
Brad is my favorite player besides Corn tho lol
Posted by: WWIN | January 29, 2016 at 01:11 PM
WWIN
Both different Qbs, it's tough to compare when watson can escape and make something out of nothing because of his running ability.
I will say this, Watson impressed the hell out of me with those TD throws in the championship game, beautiful thrown balls.
But as pure QB pocket passer Kaaya has him beat, Kaaya for the first time has a real OC
Posted by: UpNorthCane27 | January 29, 2016 at 01:11 PM
Who would you take first...
Kaaya or Watson?
Kaaya or the Nosuch Dame QB's?
Kaaya or Rosen?

Here's a dose of Honesty since we Obviously as a group don't know what a QB is....
Eht Ehm.....
Dorsey wasn't an Elite QB...
Dorsey was an Elite Mind and Student of the game..Alot of if not Most of Dorsey's praise is because of his surroundings... (Facts)
Numbers do jade true perception JaScory did Far More with Waaaaaaaaaaaay Less but because he had no rings it's easy to $#!T on the kid....
Be Serious and Not a Fan!
Dorsey was a Great but it's not for who he was, but who he was around....Honest question would Ken Dorsey had been As Successful in Any College jersey he had chosen? Honestly?
Get Off JaScory until U learn the game
12% Where Losing is Unacceptable

Jascory will always be a favorite of mine, the kid really wanted to put UM back on the map!

I wonder if Kyle Wright was underrated to an extent. Kyle had a decent first year as a starter, but struggled in year two and three. However I wonder how much of that was sheer lack of talent around him. Put Kyle Wright at the helm of the 2009 or 2014 Canes and I suspect his performance would have been much better.
Posted by: TonyCane | January 29, 2016 at 01:51 PM
Kaaya isn't the reason we lost a couple games, STUPID PENALTIES are!! We could've EASILY been 10-2, you take away the dumb penalties, (unsportsmanlike, holding, pi's) and all of the sudden BK looks like a champ. Not to mention the O-line took a step back from 2014. I like his moxy, never gets down or gives up. Wish he could scramble a little better though. If no one is open, you see 5-10yds, take off and get those yds.

Qb is a loser against Fbs teams as a starter and has zero wins against the top 25.
Keep gurgling the goldhen girl though with no gag reflex. Makes it elementary to spot the sock talk on here.
You'll know the corner is about to be turned when they sit overrated can't operate under center on his way out via transfer on his ass on the pine in exchange for New Jack.
Posted by: orange 'n green in the vein | January 29, 2016 at 02:21 PM
If you started 2 years in a row and haven't yet indisputably separated yourself from turf faces career lowlights, you're well on your way to being a bust.
But people lied about the pedo state bean pole being the first pick when he'll end up not being even the first pick for his position in the draft just like they refuse to go on record about this goldhen girl doing the same this offseason, so just ignore his continued no showing against teams that will barely clear .500 on the season. Dumbshit excuses like that killed 2015 with 2016 savaged now as well thanks to refusing to deal with reality in realities terms.

Keep the conversation apples to apples. You say one thing and then come back with something else. YOU are the one that mentioned RECORDS. I merely pointed out (correctly I might add) that KW doesn't hold any records. Now if you want to discuss who has won what, that's an entirely different matter.

Cola cane....agreed .....Walton alone lost 4 or 5 TDs....and then the lack of abilitY/coaching to rebound and still score. ..TD...never...maybe a FG...they left at least 10 TDS off the board due to penalties.
I too wish Kaaya would scramble more! he is good. ..not great. ..but doesn't need to be.
Watson - he's damn good!
God bless my Canes brothers!

Turf Face has to have the sacks taken record right Noel? He's got to hold the title there if you work the average sacks absorbed divided by games started record at least.
Oh let's not forget qb regressed efficiency wise last season either despite the greatest amount of improvement in starters at the position historically being seen between year one and year two at that spot. Learning a new scheme, new coaches like their own players, but can't get to .500 as a starter against not paid cupcakes is going to show something with tears for fatso streaming down his cheek while trying to claim hailing from Los Angeles while he really hails from right off ventura Boulevard in the valley.
Sure...

Ohio_Cane, you don't have to go too far back. It was just about 3 - 4 weeks ago that I said Ole Miss was up to no good.
I said there is NO WAY that school could have a top 5 recruiting class for the past several years (and at one time was #1 this year) and not be doing something wrong. Not sure if you recall it but trust me, I did.
