This statement by a local coach proves we have idiots guiding local players, like receiver Binjimen Victor:

Honestly I think their persistence,” Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Coconut Creek coach Kareem Reid said. “Obviously Urban Meyer is a hell of a coach and he’ll figure out a way to get him the ball. I think the Big Ten, and he listened to my advice as well, Florida kids coming to the Midwest usually kill it, or kids from the South go up there and kill. They play a different brand of football. Zach Smith did a hell of a job recruiting him for the past two years. I think he felt more comfortable there with stability of the program.”

Now, I have to ask: What kids are leaving south Florida to play for Urban Meyer, and are "killing it"? How many receivers has he put in the NFL in comparison to the U? Its not even close.

Dude on a Pale Horse

Whatever the excuse is, it absolutely has to end and it's Miami and MR's responsibility to figure out how to get So. FL's players in Coral Gables.

Go Canes!

The Canes are one, not two or three, just one eye opening season away from getting things turned around in recruiting.

A successful 2016 season and we'll start getting what we need at every position, not just the ones we have an overwhelming abundance of down here.

Can't expect Coach Richt and his guys to perform miracles in less than 30 days of recruiting.

If we hold on to what we have and pick up the 2-4 guys we look to have a real shot at, we'll have had a successful class.

^^^ THIS as winning cures a lot ^^^

The article is about Vikings kicker Blair Walsh, but has a paragraph about Mark Richt in it:

"What helped Walsh is facing up to the deed immediately. In fact, when he came off the frigid field in Minnesota that afternoon, he stood at his locker and said he was ready to face the music immediately.

He credits his college coach, Mark Richt, for making every player in the Georgia program accountable. “Coach Richt told us, ‘If you want everyone there to celebrate when you do something great, you have to be there, accountable, when you fail.’”

So he stood there for 10 or 12 minutes, answering waves of reporters with the same question."

People we already had Talent but no Coaching. We could've won at least 11 Games with the terrible coaching. Now we have Coacing. As far as South Florida Recruits, I watch them play out of state schools and got Mashed. Couldn't even score. If they Want to Leave and go Somewhere else, They weren't meant to be Canes. When We Win, They will come. How many Players from Alabama are from Florida. Stop believing the Hype. Other States are getting better while we cater to these Arrogant Teenagers.I wish we would've kept the kids that Want to be canes. Let Sam Bruce Go, but Richards I Want.

UMike

Coolmac...you have been the one saying we have no talent #flipmode

Tennis is accused of match fixing. I can point to one match that was certainly fixed.

I agree with Go...you almost always have class erosion when a coaching takes place. The initial class is a scramble. It happened here with Charlie Strong.

"Win and they'll come" goes both ways...if they come, YOU WIN!...and them more will come, and you win some more...and then more will come, and you win some more...wash,rinse,repeat. And no I'm not a she, but I SAID IT!

Also, Dubs 132...Cavs 98?!?!?!...WWIN?!?!?!

With the Heat being 6 games behind and just 5-5 in their last 10, I wouldn't expect brashness at this point.

You need to ask what their record would be had LeBron stayed and conversely what Cleveland's would be without him.

Dude on a Pale Horse

Had to call my sister in CLE and laugh my ass off. She kept saying "If we had Love it would have been another story." Well she was right, story has been even worse! Hahaha! CLE sucks.

VfB_Cane

Posted by: Go Canes! | January 19, 2016 at 09:54 AM

That could go the other way as well. How many championships would the Heat and LeBron have had he never taken his talents out of Ohio? My guess is 1 and 0.

Ohio_Cane

Heat weren't winning ANY of those Ships if Lebron wasn't there and anyone who says different is lying.

UMike

Lebron has the talent in Cleveland for sure..but he doesn't have the bonds and family like atmosphere he had in Miami. Him, Bosh, Wade and others are legit good/great friends. They had a system/culture in place. I don't think he will win another title in Cleveland, at least not soon.

UMike

^^^ And I am a Lebron fan, have been since he came into the league. I just know if they have the RIGHT talent to go with the right system to win. Maybe since their in the East, they could perhaps play someone in the finals they match up good with. But their isnt going to be a run like the one in Miami, in Cleveland

orange 'n green in the vein

Mike outing the sockpuppet troll typing out of both sides of its lying lint covered hand. What a smark.

Didn't even make it to kickoff with a new attempt at echo-chambering up it's own regurgitated crap under an unspoiled, not yet outed alternate tard id, must be exhausted from no sleep and a lack of fatso to suckle to be so sloppy.

Roster is shit. Not enough early entrants in the world to change that fact. Coaching remains unproven at the level required to be successful. Luckily the coastal remains a basketball school and a collection of dwarves so any failings in the office building won't be a defining factor until postseason play begins.

Well, U may be right, but they're already part-way there. First season they make the Finals and lose. Sounds familiar to his time with the Heat.

UMike

Ohio...you're correct. But IMO, I don't think they make that same run, or win any. I don't think Blatt is a good enough coach and they dont have the team chemistry/trust he had in Miami or that you see in SA. Cleveland is not a deep team. Seems they tried to simulate the Heat but they dont have any Pat Riley's lol

Ohio_Cane

To be fair, no one thought Spoelstra was a good enough coach at first, either. He proved he is by winning.

UMike

Riley thought he was good enough.

Go Canes!

Lol.

UMike

And I am not trying to bash Lebron. As long as it isnt at the Heat's expense I would love to see him win a couple more. I am a Lebron fan. As an lifelong NBA fan, I enjoy the greatness that is Lebron James. IMO the Cavs just arent deep enough. They remind me a little of those Trailblazer teams on the early 2000's (could be off a couple years. Ton of talent, never won a ship. They are not deep and dont play good team ball.

Sinistercane

Unbeliveable that that Rumph gets hired by UM and can't even get one of his players to come for a visit!

UMike

Go Canes... you coming to Atlanta next season?

Go Canes!

Would love to UMike. Have to see how my schedule works out.

Been to Atlanta but never to a Canes game there.

UMike

Hope so Go Canes...I think the Space crowd has got a little bigger each year. Its a great place for the tailgate and game.

CaneRock

To give Cleveland the BOTD, when the Dubs shoot like they did last night, practically NOBODY can beat em'. Dubs were 19-40 from 3, that's 10 less 2s they have to take, & less wear & tear in the paint for an already undersized team.

I agree w this. Thet fact that he's held this class together as well as he has is a win IMO.

Question: What would you consider to be an "eye opening season"?

CR, I havent been able to watch much of Curry. From all I see he is extremely talented, but he has a great team around him also. IDk if he has that extra gear some of the greats do, but he is young. He could get a couple more rings with the team they have built.

OSU just sign a $252M deal with Nike. They can offer the same labor rates to players as the SEC.

How can a coach who went to 4 straight finals and has 2 rings suck? I thought you said CR was the hater lol

Ahmmon Richards update

Newsletter

Auburn on Tuesday is expected to visit 4-star receiver Ahmmon Richards of West Palm Beach (Fla.) Wellington, one of the top three players on the board at that position.

Right now, Richards lists Auburn, Alabama, Miami and Tennessee as his top four -- with none of them in the lead over the others.

That said, Miami appears to be trending. He visited the Hurricanes last weekend and raved about that visit with AuburnUndercover on Monday night.

"I had a great time spending time with the players, asking them questions and stuff like that," Richards said. "It was all positive. They're all looking to go in a new direction. Most of the top players are buying into the new coaching staff. I think that's a good thing."

During the visit, Richards bonded with head coach Mark Richt and the team's receivers coach, Ron Dugans. Of the head coach, he said, "I love Coach Richt."

Miami "definitely gave me a lot to think about," according to Richards, the No. 31 receiver in the 247Sports Composite.

So, where do things stand with Auburn?

Auburn should learn more Tuesday, when offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee and tight ends coach Scott Fountain, his area recruiter, are likely to stop by. Fountain went to Richards' school last Friday but that was just a quick stop.

"Coach Fountain messages me every day," Richards said. "Auburn is still in it."

As you recall, Richards officially visited the Tigers during Iron Bowl weekend.

"I really liked the atmosphere -- everything about Auburn," Richards said. "The campus, the players, the coaching staff, the fans. It's all one huge family."

He officials to Alabama this weekend and Tennessee the next.

He was also crystal balled to Miami by the auburn 247 reporter as well

BigWindyCane1

Great news, Sinister. I hope the Canes get him. With him, this would be a great WR class in years. If they all welcome the competition, this would be a huge step in getting the Canes back to where they belong in college football.

Aside from the good news about Richards, there are two other important points that give me optimism for next season. I will quote Richards:

*Richards said of his visit, "It was all positive. They're all looking to go in a new direction. Most of the top players are buying into the new coaching staff. I think that's a good thing."

*During the visit, Richards bonded with head coach Mark Richt and the team's receivers coach, Ron Dugans. Of the head coach, he said, "I love Coach Richt."

Those two quotes tell me a lot about the direction that Mark Richt is taking this program. I expect to see a better product on the field next season, and CMR will be coach of the year in the ACC. Vault that!

Richt currently at Geico HS in Macon, GA talking to a recruits mom. Not sure who's mom yet, but looking...
