The blog press release passed spell check but fails proper English homonyms.

TS/GD must have brayed it out I'm suspecting.

I don't want to sound like Oscar Robinson but Curry is not the best player today or ever. Not even close. Curry is the most efficient offensive weapon in basketball today. That is the extent of it. He is one of the best shooters if not the greatest shooter of all time but Curry is in a system that is perfect for his talents. He is not a great defender nor a great rebounder. Unfortunately the average fan thinks the game is all about offense. Charles Barkley was only an Inch taller than the 6"3 Curry and scored The same career PPG as Curry thus far. Not to mention had an MVP as well. However he also had a rebound title and blocked nearly 1,000 shots in his career.

JCane

Bummer for the Lady Canes on the court today though, losing by 3 to the Noles.

As for the U men, with ranking coming out soon, I'd anticipate a move up to #8, likely one spot behind UNC (in spite of their loss to UVa this week, they likely won't be dropped behind the U after what they did to the U on the court only a few days prior). However, with 8-11 all losing over the last 2 days, how can the U not move up from 12 to at least 8?? FWIW, the losers were Iowa, Arizona, Maryland and, of course, Louisville.

I have a few concerns how the U will play on the road vs NDU on Wednesday, as they've been great at home (forget Northeastern!) vs. the ACC all season, going undefeated, but have been a bit more likely to come down to the level of the opponent on the road over the course of their ACC schedule. NDU could make them pay if they don't maintain the intensity. Need Angel and Jekiri to keep up the intensity, Uceda and Reed to keep hitting 3s and to overall make up for whatever bonehead thing Newton did to get him suspended for the last 3 regular season games. It would be amazing to see the U find some way to stay hot and get at least a 2 seed in the NCAAs.

Good week all.

Go Canes!

Just had the pleasure of watching Curry live and up close this past week.

Imo he is absolutely the best player in the NBA right now, and it's not even close.

CaneRock

Curry reminds me of Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf, formerly known as Chris Jackson.

Go Canes!

In Curry's last 10 games he's averaging 37 points, over 7 assists and nearly 6 boards a night on 55% shooting.

The most amazing part of all those amazing numbers?

Seven of the 10 have been on the road.

The guy is a beast. An utra-efficient scoring machine who also rebounds and dishes.

Phil Jackson: Never seen anything like SCurry? Remind you of Chris Jackson/ Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf, who had a short but brilliant run in NBA?

Wow, great minds really do think alike LOL. But real talk though, I've made that comparison for awhile now, might've even posted it on here. Loved watching MAR at LSU with Shaq...how the hell that team didn't a NC...IDK!

Heat won tonight, Joe Johnson was in the starting line-up.

Several former UM players have openly called for players to be allowed back on the sideline during games, but it’s not going to happen this season. UM implemented its policy after the NCAA/Nevin Shapiro scandal and the policy will run through the end of this season, with probation ending in late October.

UM athletic director Blake James said “after this season, I will discuss with [coach] Mark [Richt] what he feels works best and will communicate with President [Julio] Frenk on what the policy will be for the 2017 season."

Regardless, Richt wants to cultivate a relationship with former players and as Al Golden did, plans to invite all of them to a function the night before the spring game.

Former receiver Daryl Jones was on campus recently and “we were having a staff meeting,” cornerbacks coach Mike Rumph said. “Daryl came in, met everybody and hugged us. That’s one of the ways [Richt] wants to welcome all the former guys.

“Once the former players meet him, they will feel honored to have a guy like him. We can’t do anything without understand where we came from – a team that won five championships, had more first-rounders than most teams, and we have to use that as one of our assets moving forward.”

Could't disagree more. I don't care what system he is in, he would perform just the same. This guys creates his own shots so he doesn't need a system in order to excel.

UMike

The Warriors system doesn't make Curry a star or better player, it makes him a winner. He would have those numbers and sick shots anywhere, just might not win as much. Definitely not one of the best all around players, but perhaps the best offensive player. He really is something to watch.

Go Canes!

The guy is averaging 31-5-7

LeBron is averaging 24-7-6

Durant is averaging 27-4-8

He's doing everything the other two are but scoring more with the same number of shots per game.

For every 20 shots taken he's averaging 7 more points a game than LeBron, the previous benchmark of efficiency.

His numbers are surreal.

UMike

I would still build a team around Lebron if given the choice. I think he is a great player though.

Hassan

--------------------------------------------------

He is ultra efficient and most likely the best shooter we have ever seen, also one of the best ball handlers we have seen.

So although he is great in those area's he is not a great rebounder and he is not a great defender. Guards that score 30+ PPG have come and gone a lot in the NBA and it is true no one has done it this efficiently and that makes Curry special but it does not make him the Best player in the world.

Ohio_Cane

Artie Burns runs a 4.40, Deon Bush runs a 4.65. Both unofficial

BigWindyCane1

I thought Burns would run around a 4.4. A lower time would make him a first round pick, and a higher time would make him a second round pick. Burns led the ACC in INTs as a junior, has long arms and height, and he is athletic. His film is not that good, but that is largely technique that many NFL teams feel they can work on. If Burns 4.4 holds, that still might be enough to make him a first round. In any event, Burns will be the highest drafted CB out of UM since the early 2000s (Buchanon and Rumph).

No change in @ESPNLunardi's bracketology from last week: he still has Miami as a No. 2 seed, heading to Brooklyn.

UMike

I saw where Scott ran a 4.9..is that slow for a WR?

Ohio_Cane

Scott really ran a 4.9? That's bad.

UMike

Thats what I saw, IDk if he ran better after, but I saw the 4.9 on Twitter I believe,

BigWindyCane1

I have got to respect Coach L for suspending one of his best players for the last three games in the midst of a ACC championship run. Integrity of the program means more than immediate wins. Teaching these young student/athletes valuable life lessons means more the in the long run, even if it may cost you in the short term.

I would love to have Newton for the last three regular season games (we really need him), but Coach L has sent a message to his entire team that no one is above the program. Following Coach L's decision, the Canes players rallied and found a way to win against a really good Louisville team. The Canes now go on the road to South Bend and Blackburg, and I am sure the Canes will rally together for the last two regular season games. More importantly, Coach L's message and the integrity of his program is preserved, and the Canes will be better in the March tournaments when Newton returns.

Contrast Coach L with Coach K. Newton was suspended for something the public didn't see or know about. Allen trips two players on national TV, but there is no discipline. Now, Allen's two acts seem to be a distraction to the team, and its too late for Coach K to reverse his decision. The ACC didn't do anything either. We will see how this thing plays out to close out the season.

Miami (FL) CB Artie Burns ran unofficial times of 4.40 and 4.39. Shaved the 0.01 and that's huge. Potential 1st rd'er, the talent to match.

UMike

If Burns does go in the 1st, which is very possible with the premium on corners these days...who is our best chance to continue the new streak next year?

Kaaya, if he leaves.

Coley and Elder could get themselves in the mix with a strong senior year if Richt has the team playing well in big games when the world is watching.

BigWindyCane1

Kaaya will be a first round pick next season or the season after, whenever he decides to leave.

The NFL loves DLs, OLs and CBs. Good players with great measurables at these positions will go high in the draft. AQM and Thomas are the DLs with measurables but no production. They will need monster years to move into the first round next year. If they stay for their senior seasons, two monster years and production under Diaz's attacking scheme will give them strong consideration.

I don't see any first-round OLs coming out next season, and Corn will be a good CB in the NFL, but his measurables might keep him out of the first round.

Terrance Sullivan

Hopefully Stacey Coley puts it all together this year can stay healthy and be a 1st round pick.

SOUP

My money is on TSully.

Heard he's going to skip playing and just go straight to the HOF.

True.

CaneRock

My thing with the Curry debate, is the small crowd of folks who want to put Him in Jordan territory.

Lookin' at His stat line versus OKC, He had 12 3s...for every 2 3s you make, that's 1 less shot you have to take. Think about it, the 3 really wasn't a signature part of MJ's game, so for the most part MJ had to go get it...Curry ain't got to go get it like Jordan did.

But you gotta give em' His props though, He's in a historical zone.

He's already in the Hooter's HOF

Hassan

Few points.

Sleeper possible high pick next year. NOt saying it will happen but saying there is a universe where it could happen would be Sunny Odogwu. If he has a great year of tape with his size and strength he is a kid that could turn pro and shoot up into the 1st RD. He just has to listen to coach Searls and have a great year. His Kick slide needs a lot of work. he plays too high for me.

Curry is also in the HOF for good guys, I know it is a different era and some of us are adjusting to an ERA with no great big men and hardly any defense and more "Movement" as opposed to charles Barkley Iso Era lol. No matter these things Basketball has many Facets and Curry is great at a couple but he is not a great all around player.

Terrance Sullivan

Soup, KYCane, and Go Canes U Guys Are far too kind.

CoCane

How great all around can you be at PG? 5 rebounds a game is a lot for a PG. He gets to the rim a lot. Most don't notice because of so much attention for shooting 3's. He gets steals. Assists are near the top of the league. He hits big shots in the clutch.

That is a all around great player...

There is no question...

There is plenty of question hence the debate here and with long time NBA greats like Phil Jackson and Oscar Robinson and others.

He is a good rebounder for his position he is not great. He is by NO MEANS a great defender, that is only HALF THE GAME but you say say is a great "All around" player? I am sorry but your analytical skills are in question when you can ignore half the game.

Very cool: Miami plans to practice at George Mason pre-ACC tournament, 10 years after Larranaga's Final Four run there.
