Numero dos!!!!!

Go Canes!

Those investigation years, particularly that 2012 class were absolute killers.

Not a coincidence imo the number of non contributors dropped dramatically after we were able to recruit without the weight of potential sanctions hanging over us.

BigWindyCane1

Great post Tony Cane! The 2012 class was the Duke Johnson class, with a couple of 5 stars and ranked in the top 10 nationally. 33 recruits, and 15 gone after two years. The highest ranked recruiting class under Golden lost nearly half the class after 2 years. I have never heard of such attrition in the Canes program, or any college football program, ever. Some attrition is natural, but the 2012 class attrition is staggering. That was a clear sign that Golden was running a dysfunctional program.

That is probably one of the most important contributors to his demise as Canes head coach (aside from strenght and conditioning, defensive scheme, special teams, game day management, play calling, etc.,.). You cannot consistently win at Miami when half of your class never gets developed or contributes. Amazing facts.

BigWindyCane1

The current recruiting class for 2016 is 18. I would guess that since Richt did weed out a lot of recruits that didn't belong, I expect very low attrition with this class.

LOL. If you are going to list the demise of AG, it needs tobe in an outlined, bulleted form :)

Vidal back to Turin?

Herbieibis

Golden wore turnstiles out. This is reflection of a average evaluator of talent or should I say beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. He never got his eyes checked.

Go Canes!

Totally off topic but...damn!

This season, Steph Curry is shooting 60.4% on shots from 28+ feet.

The NBA average from 3 feet or closer is 59.5%.

Dude on a Pale Horse

Golden still out recruited the Coastal, couldnt win because he was more loyal to his employees than he was to results and winning. He wasnt willing to entertain the idea that changes were required, I think because he saw himself as being smarter than everyone. He really SHOULD have been successful, just like MR should be. MR has made some questionable hires, Im curious to see what happens if one or two of these guys dont pan out.

It is a must to reduce the number of players who are non contributors. We have had way too many bust the past ten years.

I think scheme and W/Ls had a bigger impact on recruiting during AGs tenure than the cloud.

Mark from Atlanta

Rubber meets road in October my Canes brothers, we'll know more after that stretch of competition. And big UPs! On the article. .....God bless you and Go Canes!

orange 'n green in the vein

More transfers out from the 2012 collection of goldhen girls to the 2014 set of losers will be continued to be welcome.

Any space freed up not used by early entry recruits in 2017 can be safely parlayed into more of the same in the 2018 solar year but can continue to count toward 2017's signing class.

Blob is an eccercise of useless navel gaseing to chronicling a feature according to the TS/GD's of sock-puppetry as opposed to bug in the pyrite ROE at Miami.

2017 signing day can't land smarks fast enough...

Vidal back to Turin?

Posted by: The Dude | February 06, 2016 at 09:11 AM

Not before the end of the season, transfer period ended last weak both in the Bundesliga and Serie A.
In the summer, however, there will be a lot of turnover in Munich with Guardiola leaving for ManCity and Ancellotti taking the reins.
I wouldn't bite on the Vidal back to Turin rumour just yet, as long as the only source is from Chile..

BTW, if I may ask: What's your connection to Juve - Italian relatives? Some moment of revelation back in the day?

That should read: Did you know that 15 minutes of reading through Golden's binder can cost you 50% of your football knowledge?

Love the jerseys the first time I ever saw them (Jeep man). Then saw the defense w/ Cheilini, brutal... love their style, been hooked since. Like seriously within the last year.

Dude on a Pale Horse

Juve needs Vidal whenever they can get him. Marchisio, Pogba (if he stays), Vidal (if he comes back), Cuadrado, Khedira... not too shabby. The D is nasty, the GK is a legend and Dybala is becoming a world class scorer. Good things.

VfB_Cane

If Juve want to steal one from Bayern, I'd say they should go after Kingsley Coman. He's a younger Vidal with a mad skillset, yet only 19 years old.

Florida Gators quarterback Treon Harris will change positions and serve as a wide receiver next season, Gridiron Now reports.

Chose the Gators over the Canes because he wanted to play QB. Didn't work out so well, it seems.

19? Isnt that a little old? Don't people stop playing soccer at 9?

An islander raised on cricket could see Treon wouldn't be a qb, now if Meyer had him, he would beast. Hello y'all.

only in college, other than carnell(and that's a stretch) none of the osu guys are nlf qbs imo.

UMike

When you have an athlete like Treon Harris, he is worth the shot at QB to get him on your team and to get an inroad into Booker T. If it dont work (which it didnt) fine, but you gave him a shot there and now he can help you in other areas.

BigWindyCane1

There is also a bill in the Florida legislature to allow players to transfer freely, with very few restrictions. This could rrevolutionize sports in Florida high school football.

Go Canes!

Treon will be joined at WR by that QB from Heritage that went to Ohio State.

When was the last time the turds trotted out a decent offense? Ten years ago?

Coach Herman from Houston wanted to pattern his recruiting efforts, like miami did in the 80's by fencing off the Houston area. Said he admired the u back in the day.

Barry:

### At Georgia, Mark Richt never had a recruiting class rated lower than 15th by Rivals.com; 11 were in the top 10. His first UM class was ranked 22nd.

UM is still stinging from the loss of cornerback Tyler Byrd, who flipped to Tennessee on the eve of National Signing Day, and an inability to land several other cornerback targets. Byrd was rated the nation’s 35th-best recruit by ESPN, leaving quarterback Jack Allison (No. 68) as UM’s highest-rated 2016 recruit.

Cornerbacks coach Mike Rumph said Byrd “felt the vibe better at Tennessee. He liked the atmosphere at the school. He made the decision like a man. He talked to me and told me how he felt. You can’t look down on that. You’ve got to let a kid be a person he wants to be. I can’t be upset with that. He’s going to have a bright future at Tennessee. He’s one of the first kids I recruited. I just wish him the best.”

Rumph said this UM staff “learned a lot through this [recruiting] process --– some good, some bad. You’ve got to be on top of everything or you’re going to be left behind. You’ve got to be really innovative as a staff. Through every loss, there’s a lesson learned of what we have to do moving forward. I’m excited about 2017, having a full year to recruit kids and getting back to the team I know we can be…. This city won’t allow you to be mediocre.”

### We're told UM plans to look for cornerback and receiver transfers who are eligible to play immediately (meaning graduate transfers) because of shaky depth at both positions.

UM has eight receivers on scholarship (including three signed last week who haven't yet enrolled) and six scholarship cornerbacks (including freshman summer arrival Malek Young). Safety Jaquan Johnson also could play corner if needed, coaches say.

That could change, though, with the total makeover Munich are facing in the summer and the seemingly bright future for Juve.

However, my last two attempts to redirect attention to the Basketball team went nowhere. Everybody was way too busy discussing the kindergarten top 300 prospects that may sign in 2030 ...

Its just not February unless SOUP threatens to shut down the blog from lack of interest.

IIRC, the last time he did it was rather the opposite, as way too many bloggers expressed an urge to have prominent members of the coaching staff transported to outer space (or worse LOL).
