The University of Miami baseball program will host its annual Fan Fest & Alumni Game on Saturday, Feb. 13 at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field. Festivities are set to begin at 4 p.m., and admission to the event is free. The team autograph session is set for 4-5 p.m.
The concession stands, including the famous Mark Light Shake stand, will be open, while representatives from the bookstore will be on hand selling the newest baseball apparel. Other activities for kids include long toss, a "Dress Like a Cane" station and more, while representatives from the Miami ticket office will also be on hand for a Select-A-Seat event.
Miami Hurricanes baseball alumni will take batting practice on the field before being introduced at 5:30 p.m. The alumni will then take on the 2016 Hurricanes in the annual exhibition game slated to begin at 6 p.m.
The UM baseball team has continued to build preseason momentum by achieving high rankings among the preseason polls released by many national publications.
The Hurricanes checked in at No. 6 in the USA TODAY Sports baseball preseason coaches poll.
Miami was ranked No. 4 in Collegiate Baseball Newspaper’s top 25 released in December, marking Miami’s highest preseason ranking from that publication since 2005. Miami was also ranked No. 6 by D1Baseball.com in its first top 25 released in early January.
The Hurricanes’ Baseball America preseason ranking of No. 6 released earlier this week is its highest since 2007.
Miami returns 18 letterwinners from a 2015 team that won a second straight ACC Coastal Division title and qualified for the College World Series for the 24th time in program history. The Hurricanes ended the 2015 season in Omaha, Neb., and were ranked No. 6 by D1Baseball, Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, Baseball America, Perfect Game and USA TODAY in year-end polls.
Two Hurricanes – juniors Zack Collins and Bryan Garcia – have earned preseason All-America recognition from both Louisville Slugger and Perfect Game.
The Hurricanes, who earned the No. 5 national seed entering last year’s postseason run, won 50 games and extended their own college baseball record by qualifying for the NCAA postseason for the 43rd straight year; Miami has not missed the NCAA postseason since 1972.
Season tickets to the Miami Hurricanes’ 2016 baseball season at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field are available for as little as $99, while family plans (two adults, three youth) for the entire 35-game home slate are available for just $199. Call (305) 284-2263 for more information.

Yesss but it can't be May 6-8 aka Mother's Day Weekend because I will be in Atlanta for Canes Baseball against Georgia Tech and Mini Family Reunion. The Next Weekend the 13-15 I am open and Free to do it. Let's go to Oak Mountain State Park in Pelham Alabama in Shelby County in Suburban Birmingham. It will be close enough for UMike to make it too.

Just watched Yearby's 2015 highlight. Man if he would take some time this summer and work with Amy Deen and get just a half step in his long speed he would be a high draft pick (#2 round for rb's in today's NFL).
Looking at the work (runs and catches) he can be a complete back. He just needs that top end speed. Love how he runs in-between the tackles and has the moves to get past the safety/LB, but he gets caught from behind. Again, a couple of hours work with Deen would serve him well.
IMO that's what separate's Cook for JY, Cook has that top end speed. I think JY has better hands too. It will be interesting to see JY play behind a more experience Oline that should be better. There should be some really good comp on the O-line this year:
Trevor Darling – 4* (second year starting, 2 years experience)
Alex gall – 3* (second year playing)
Tyler Gauthier – 3* (Second year in the program)
Danny Isidora – 3* (Third year starting)
Jahair Jones - 3* (RS soph, see what he can become)
Nick Linder – 3* (second year starting)
Brendan Loftus – 3* ( R shirted, see what he got)
KC McDermott – 4* (Second year starting, 2 years’ experience)
Bar Milo – 4*(Redshirted, really interesting to see him make some noise)
Sunny Odogwu – 3* (1 year starting experience, made improvements, been here forever)
Tyree St. Louis – 4* (1 year limited experience, no clue why burn the shirt. But interested to see him make some noise)
It’s possible to have a starting oline of (with Bar Milo being the wild card to taking some ones spot):
Darling – 4* LT
T. St Louis – 4* G
Nick Linder – 3* C
D. Isidora – 3* G
KC – 4* T
Has to be better than last year, and JY was able to get 1K.

Pitt's playing some type of 1-2-2/3-2 zone, we need somebody to start hittin' that lil' short corner shot. And no sense in trying to screen a zone, swing that rock around until something pops open
Posted by: CaneRock | February 09, 2016 at 07:39 PM
Told ya', that corner's open, gotta be ready to shoot!

McClellan with the buzzer beater, 33-28 Pitt at the half. Gotta make adjustments L.
Posted by: CaneRock | February 09, 2016 at 07:47 PM
Easily the worst first half of basketball by this team so far.
We'll see if The Pimp can close the effort gap for the team playing down to the opposition after half...
Posted by: orange 'n green in the vein | February 09, 2016 at 07:48 PM
Panthers have eight more total rebounds, five net offensive compared to Miami, and Rodriguez is the best player so far on the court tonight for them. ..
I know 23 is in foul trouble in the first half but this is excessive already for a team failure.
Posted by: orange 'n green in the vein | February 09, 2016 at 07:58 PM
Lol, Mac hit a buzzer beater finger roll 3 to close the half, 19 feet to the rim in no dribbles.
Posted by: orange 'n green in the vein | February 09, 2016 at 08:07 PM
Dixon is drawing up a play to force that 3rd foul on Tonye in this timeout, guaranteed.

Whatever The Pimp said at half, bottle it.

Pur the elbow directly pointing toward the floor and aim over the rim next time 23...

Now for some heavy lifting.

Canes pulled out a good home win against a solid ACC opponent Pitt. The Canes are still trying to find their identity. Angel proved me right. Angel showed his experience and leadership down the stretch with that tip in and defensive play in the last 2 second of the game to make the difference between winning and losing. Very pleased with the win, but would like to see the Canes start to turn the corner and play a lot better.
Posted by: BigWindyCane1 | February 09, 2016 at 09:11 PM
Teams like Michigan State lost and UNC losing. Presents an opportunity for the Canes to continue to win against teams they should beat
Posted by: BigWindyCane1 | February 09, 2016 at 09:24 PM
Pitt is no slouch. This is a 17-6 team with a 6-5 record in the tough ACC after tonight.
No telling what happens from here.
But at least I'm not reading the LOL-worthy comments like this is "not a very good team" or "bench Angel for the rest of the season". Thankfully, Coach L knows a little more basketball than that. Just a little.
Posted by: Lur-ker | February 09, 2016 at 09:28 PM
UNC pulled out a squeaker against lowly BC team. But Michigan State, Xavier and West Virginia all loose, creating an opportunity for the Canes to move up if they can win in Tally against an improving FSU team that they are favored to beat. The Canes can be in the top 10 with a good chance to win the ACC, outright.
UNC seems to struggle a little down the stretch, while UVA, seems to be improving. The Canes have several issues to address.
Posted by: BigWindyCane1 | February 09, 2016 at 10:21 PM
In spite of the issues Coach L musr address, I am very pleased with how the Canes were able to win against a tough Pitt team. The canes veteran players stepped up when it mattered most

OT: Ole Mi$$ violations worse than previously reported...
Looks like 9 of the football violations involve the current regime and some are Level 1 violations --the most serious:

So they covered it up to get those kids to commit, and now the truth comes out. And ESPN was more than happy to run a story about how the infractions weren't so bad and happened a long time ago.

Sounds like you want to make a fort. The cabins sleep six so there'll be room to bring extra sheets and drape them over chairs. We could redo the scene from the Sixth Sense.

They won't get more than a slap on the wrist, because the notice of allegations didn't include a "failure to monitor" charge (let alone "lack of institutional control", which the NCAA used against us and USC).
