To give Rumph the BOTD, it's gonna take a couple of years to fix the phuck ups of the last regime at that position...ditto with building quality depth at RB.

Da U N Houston

PS - Even if he brings NO kids from AH, he's still better than Paul Williams lol

LOL Canesspace Wet Your Pants Tour actually is brilliant.

Go Canes!

Wow Texas had ONE player invited to the combine.

That speaks volumes about what Strong inherited.

Da U N Houston

Wasn't Brian Burns, 4 star DE headed to F$U, a Heritage High player going to come and visit b/c of Rumph? I believe the articles or the folks "in the know" here said that Miami canceled his visit?

I agree the jury is out on all the coaches until we see improvement and production on the filed and WINS....they all have work to do!!!!

WWIN

My last word on this Rumph situation... also I like the term "Rumph Ryders" coined by Old Skool lol

When he was hired some people didn't like it because they wanted someone more experienced and thought we could have gotten a bigger named coach. Those people were told not to worry because the DB coaching job is just a recruiting position role... but now those people are being told not to worry about recruiting right now and judge his coaching?

I like Brian Burns, but the Canes already had tremendous DE commmitments with upside. I saw Jackson from Gulliver play football and basketball in high school, and he has amazing upside. Jackson is an incredible athlete, along the Julius Peppers type mold. He is big, powerful and very athletic. Coach Kool has a lot of raw material to work with there.

In addition, Patrick Bethel, a Canes legacy, is also a player that I am happy we got.

Paul Williams is not comparable to Rumph. What recruits care about is winning in college and making it to the NFL. 5 canes getting invited to the combine is a great selling point for the program. Noone can deny that the Canes put players in the NFL, and once they start winning under CMR, everything else will fall into place.

Go Canes!

Preach Windy.

No I'm saying you don't know a thing about the individual situations regarding those two players, yet you are so quick to call out a coach who you also know nothing about and have given no chance to succeed already.

Posted by: Go Canes! | February 11, 2016 at 01:13 PM

5 yrs worth of your excuse vomit is getting old...Enough is enough, these coaches and either produce or go home and right now Rumph ain't lookin' too hot

Go Canes!

The only one making excuses here is you buddy.

You've taken a single situation and used it as an excuse for you to rail on, complain about and put down a coach you know nothing about, have no real idea how he's doing with regards to recruiting and less than zero clue about how he will coach.

It's ridiculous, short sighted and embarrassing.

Making it about Golden, or Burns or Michigan or whatever else you come up with won't change the fact he just started here a month ago and this is just you finding something to bitch about.

He fired His DC at UGA (Willie Martinez) that I know of...He might've fired His entire defensive, not sure. Martinez is the DB coach at Tennessee now, go figure.

CaneRock

Duke Johnson won the NFC North ROTY.

Dude on a Pale Horse

Well thats interesting considering Martinez was rumored to be a candidate for MR.

Dude on a Pale Horse

Bottom line is, it starts at the top. MR and staff were on a short time table this year. I didnt expect any miracles even though some sources predicted them. I just want a HC that is committed to winning, I can live with that. AG was not.

### Players say even though Al Golden was no walkover with regard to serious rules violations, new UM coach Mark Richt is even more serious about it. One player was told failed drug tests leave players at risk of being thrown off the team, not merely suspension.

Anyone who steals something will be thrown off the team. When players are speaking to the media, they cannot wear earrings or chains. Richt prefers them clean-shaven, too.

Five University of Miami football players have been invited to the NFL Scouting Combine, which will be held from Feb. 23-29 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

The Hurricane invitees: cornerback Artie Burns, safety Deon Bush, inside linebacker Raphael Kirby, defensive end Ufomba Kamalu and wide receiver Rashawn Scott.

All were seniors this past season except for Burns, who was a junior and declared for the draft as an underclassman.

NFL.com rates the 6-0, 197-pound Burns, who led the ACC with six interceptions this past season (most by a Hurricane since Sean Taylor’s 10 in 2003), with the highest grades among the Hurricanes.

“Premium athlete with long, angular build and preferred blend of size and speed,’’ his analysis begins. “One of the top 60-meter hurdlers in college track and field. Wakes up every morning with natural ball skills to flip the field.’’

His weakness, according to NFL.com: “Tape isn’t his best friend. Extremely raw and undisciplined…’’

Bush, listed as 6-0 and 202 pounds, was the next highest rated Cane. Raphael Kirby tore an ACL this season that “will prevent him from working out at the combine,’’ but was still analyzed.

NFL.com’s “bottom line’’ on Kirby: “Undersized with average athleticism, Kirby is a try-hard linebacker with good football character but only moderate production at best during his time at ‘The U’.”

In recent years, the Hurricanes have often started fast, but the goal of new head coach Mark Richt will be to make sure they also finish among the top classes as well. All their commitments at this stage hail from in-state, including eight that rank amongst the ESPN Jr 300. They hold a pair of commitments from local running backs including Robert Burns, the No. 2 overall back. Top-25 WR Kemore Gamble is a tall, lengthy target with excellent hands. Jon Ford gives them a commitment from a big, strong and tough ESPN Jr 300 defensive lineman.

DMoney:

The #1 reason for optimism this season

We have our most talented players and coaches at the two most important positions on the field.

Coach Richt is a proven developer of quarterbacks and he has one of the best quarterbacks in the country. Coach Kool is the best DL coach in the nation and he has seven high school All-Americans on the DL.

If you're great at those two spots, you will be a great team. It won't happen overnight, but we have the raw materials to get there.
