The Maxwell Football Club selected University of Miami football juniors Brad Kaaya and Joe Yearby to the preseason watch list for the 80th annual Maxwell Award on Tuesday.
The Maxwell Award, named in honor of Robert W. "Tiny" Maxwell, has been given to America's College Player of the Year since 1937. Maxwell's contributions to the game of football were extensive, including his time as a player, a sportswriter and an official.
Miami is one of just 21 schools at the Football Bowl Subdivision level with two players on the Maxwell Award Watch List.
Kaaya earned the preseason recognition thanks to a strong sophomore season in which he threw for over 3,000 yards for the second straight year, passed for 16 touchdowns and had just five interceptions. Kaaya was one of just three players nationally to throw for 3,000-or-more yards, 10-or-more touchdowns and five-or-fewer interceptions.
Following the 2015 season, Kaaya earned All-ACC Third Team honors by the coaches and Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association. The Los Angeles native enters his junior season with 6,436 career-passing yards and stands fifth on the all-time list at Miami. He needs just 3,130 yards to become the Hurricanes’ all-time passing leader.
Yearby’s preseason recognition came following a breakout 2015 campaign where he rushed for over 1,000 yards (1,002) and had eight total touchdowns (six rushing, two receiving). Yearby averaged 4.9 yards per carry and had 77.1 yards per game. He also ranked fourth on the team with 23 receptions.
Yearby finished the year as one of just four Hurricanes that started in every game during the 2015 campaign. Following the year, the Miami native was named All-ACC Third Team by the coaches and honorable mention by ACSMA.
Semifinalists for the Maxwell Award will be announced Oct. 31, 2016, while the three finalists for the award will be unveiled November 21, 2016. The winners of the 2016 Maxwell and Bednarik Awards will be announced as part of the Home Depot College Football Awards Show held on December 8, 2016. The formal presentations of these awards will be made at the Maxwell Football Club Awards Gala hosted by Tropicana Hotel & Casino Atlantic City on March 10, 2017.

GREAT NEWS!:
Former Bills quarterback Jim Kelly goes to New York for biopsy
Former Buffalo Bills quarterback and Hall of Famer Jim Kelly underwent a biopsy on Thursday, and preliminary results showed no return of cancer, according to a post on his wife's Instagram account.
Kelly had the procedure in New York City after his latest scans following extensive treatment for cancer of the jaw were inconclusive.

GD licked broken down Wade's ass too forcefully and pushed him right out the door.
At his current sphincter gurgling rate he'll have the goldhen-girl loser dude transferring to Alaska State's scout team similarly by November.
Good news, for the Hurricanes, when it finally happens.
TS Michael Bradley's embryonic fascination with being a sidtard GD when he grows up to leave the roach motel foot of the bed as he runs past the hem of his father's skirt remains good news for those of us who enjoy laughing at these particular two useless bags of gas.

David Lake, 247Sports)
Steele has Miami finishing the 2016 season as the No. 19 overall team in the country.
Here is what Steele had to say about the Hurricanes:
“Mark Richt steps into great situation as he takes over a team that underachieved. He has 15 returning starters and all eight positions rank in my top units. They play in the winnable ACC Coastal. They do not face a team on the road in the ACC that had a winning ACC record last year. They do face Notre Dame on the road and host Florida State, but avoid Clemson. They are my pick to get to the ACC Title game.”
Steele regards Miami as a well balanced team going into the 2016 season. He ranks every position group fifth or better in the ACC. Steele has UM with the second best quarterback group, third best at running back, fifth at wide receiver, and third at offensive line in the ACC.
On defense, Steele has Miami’s defensive line ranked third in the conference, linebackers at fifth, and defensive backs at fifth. He has the UM special teams ranked second in the conference.
For Miami’s 2016 forecast, Steele had the following to say about the Hurricanes:
“Last year Miami was number nine in the country in fewest amount of seniors, which is usually a good sign for the next year…Folks pointed to coaching as a main reason for Miami’s struggles last year and while Mark Richt does not have any National Titles, he does have a lot of double digit win seasons in the rugged SEC. Miami has the coaching, veteran quarterback, improved defense, and my number two rated special teams unit in the ACC. Miami has not had a double digit win season since 2003, but five of my nine sets of power rating s call for one this year including my main one. The Hurricanes are my favorite to win the Coastal.”
Miami is trending in a positive way in the minds of college football experts.

A quick comment in regard to the stadium completion:
There is a very real chance the stadium will be complete on the due date of September 1. Having been in the commercial construction business for 35 years, I can tell you a lot of pressure is being put on the subcontractors and suppliers working on the stadium. It generally goes something like this. The general contractor will call a jobsite meeting and all the decision makers from each subcontractor will be there. Gentlemen, we must get done by this date or liquidated damages will be assessed to each of you based on the percentage of work left to be completed. These damages will be x amount per day and deducted from your contract. As you know, you can dispute the damages but attorney fees are nonrecoverable and you will also get no future work contracts from our company. In addition, no payments will be made to your company until the final inspection is complete and accepted. Of course, all the subs know that the GC is contracted to receive a bonus in addition to his base contract amount if the job comes in on time. And it will just so happen that should the project come in late, the damages assessed to the subs on the job will equal the amount of bonus the general contractor would have received. The GC doesn't care if you complete your work in the amount of days listed in the construction schedule, nor does he care that the subs who began the project took too long to do their work and thus put the job behind schedule. All he cares about is the guys who are now on the job will be expected to make up that time at their own cost. Oh, but the carrot and stick that will be used is always the same. We will make it up to you guys on the next job by giving you last look to get a contract, ie. we will let you match the low bid and get the job. Oh goody goody. And the little guys get screwed again.

Just read the details on the Mark Walton case. Glad it was dropped, but man there are some real troubling signs in our judicial systems. I realize that people are human, but his could have been real bad, and I am glad his attorneys are not going to let it close like that.
As someone said earlier, these young men, majority black need to realize that the world is real. There are real evil people out there, dressed in all type of clothing. We need to teach our young men to always be aware of your surroundings and circumstances. Sad to say, but sometimes its just best to stay around loved ones.

From CNN
Many studies have shown that testosterone levels in males rise and fall according to whether the individual wins or loses in competitive sports, like tennis and wrestling -- even chess.
Sports fans experience the same spike watching sports, which helps explain the violence and destructive rioting that can take place after big games (win or lose).

Posted by: CaneRock | July 11, 2016 at 02:09 PM
Rock, there obviously something sketchy that happened with the police, but I'll wait to get more info, because right now it's all confusing as hell.
What's clear to me is that there was very little in terms of a case from the get go, and all the information and facts about the case just sounded super sketchy.
It's the district attorney's job to analyze all the information, and then make a wise choice about whether proceeding or not. So ALL my wrath and anger goes towards the district attorneys office for the time being. They should have never proceeded with this case with the information we now know. This should've been drop within the first two or three weeks.
I'm extremely angry that the District Attorney's Office kept delaying, but yet kept proceeding with this case. They sound like a bunch of mopes, and they look incompetent. They had nothing but kept Stretching stretching it out. I'm really angry about that.
The district attorney for this case, delayed the hearing twice, and then showed up late today when she was supposed to be in front of the judge. Very disrespectful. Sounds like an incompetent District Attorney's Office trying to make a case out of nothing.
When they look into the actions of the police and the "victim" they also need to look into the district attorney. What the hell were they thinking?

Posted by: SOUP | July 11, 2016 at 04:22 PM
I have no idea, Soup.
I can only guess what they were thinking.
Maybe it was a punk move by an inexperienced DA trying to get some big case pub off the back of a big time college player?
Maybe it was incompetent supervision?
You would hate to think that the more accomplished and experienced bosses in that DA office would look at this case and realize there ain't sh*t to go on and drop it. Which they finally did after almost 4 months of bad publicity for the kid.
I'm pretty angry as to how this case was handled by the DA's office. Unacceptable.

Lol @ SOUP
I won't get too deep but incompetence doesn't cut it as an excuse for the SAO or the police. They followed standard procedure. That's motto everytime a black man is murdered, beaten, kidnapped etc. by the police. "It was standard procedure". Wrong doing is never admitted by the police no matter how savage the act. Because it's standard procedure to f*ck us up. A procedure that has been the standard for centuries...
Justice will be given or taken
