No but I have jumped off the Florida Turnpike Bridge near the SW 122 exit into a canal in Kendall and that sucker is higher than that!

And yes, I was young, and foolish.

Posted by: SOUP | July 15, 2016 at 11:55 PM

I know that exit and that's literally insane. The only risk at the UM pool, and it's a small one, is hitting the water headfirst and doing something to your vertebra upon entry. The depth is obviously not an issue.

The risk factors for what you did are numerous, not counting a popo seeing it and deciding he's going to give you some sh*t about why you shouldn't be doing that.

Go Canes!

Break out the triple lindy CMR, you are the man!!!

Go Canes!

PS. You're insane for diving off that bridge.

I did it from the one on 27th Ave into the canal just south of NW 103rd St at night and thought I was a bad ass.

Respect!

Pps. The canal just north of 103rd!

There are a lot of problems in Amerika, but I see it futile to start a Final Solution like the Nazis.
There is way too much useless bureaucratic government here.....and nothing gets done.....representative government is dead as we know it....parties are polarized and cannot work for the good of all. We argue over stupid things....whether a person can have an abortion, whether you can not serve gays, whether insurance companies can provide birth control or rubbers.....who cares about such trivia stuff....live and let live focus on big things....ISIS, infrastructure, debt reduction, education systems that work, jobs, strong economy, protecting ourselves from Nice like incidents...working together as a TEAM Life Family School Football in that order..remember?

No Bernie Sanders type govt.....nothing is free....he is a an old fool...

It starts at the top, and when your leader cannot recognize reality and lead....well you wallow in the mire. GB was a terrible president, and the current administration is no better....Waco...workplace violence.....Orlando gun violence....Nice...i guess truck violence....ISIS the JV.....and what about that red line in the sand in Syria....that backed up backed up and then turned tail and ran the other way......this so called commander in chief is no commander at all....just a stargazer in some isolated tower reading from a teleprompter who is afraid of his own shadow...BOO! see him jump. We need real leaders from both sides of the isle to come together put differences aside and LEAD DAMMIT! Hope and Change....BAH! We have come to Despair and Stagnation under this man....who is a scared little fellow!
Kind of AlPa and No D Pas D in the picture.....back up a little bit more....or hell, just run as fast as you can the other way!!

Nothing is free... Its not about whats free but what is a good tax payer investment. For instance K-12. Want less people on food stamps? How about offer public day care so people can go to work? These arent pie in the sky ideas, they already funtion in countries like Germany. But nevermind all that. The real question is what we do as automation takes over. In 40 years, jobs like trucking are gone.

VA Cane

I agree with you about some things....40 years from now you and I will most likely be gone...maybe!

I think the role of govt is already way too big and deep...it intrudes, conquers, and divides us as a nation, and does nothing to improve anything. Hot air all talk!....and its success is pathetic.....there is no success no progress! Everything the govt touches turns to shit. Education, Banking, Housing, Mortgages, Health Care, Infrastructure.....why? It is run by incompetent morons who have as their interest their and their colleagues financial success. If you look at the parties...Dems...abortion for all, guns for none, welfare and free everything for everybody, let every person in the world come enjoy pay nothing in Amerika, hate the military, bunch of Reds,...and Repubs...no abortion, guns for all, no help to anyone, no immigration, military and police state rule bunch of Nazis....total opposites...but take those masks from the ancient gallery away, and they are all the same....selfish, greedy, incompetent, lying, cheating, STUPID ass people who do not care about us....but they really love each other, conduct gridlock for the sole purpose of keeping the power and money in their elite group!

I love America...Everyman...the salt of the earth.....I hate Amerika and the government....it is an embarrassment and it is a far cry from the founding fathers visions....Dems and Repubs.... all of them are horrible people and spineless leaders....and we suffer because of them!
Love your country and the people who fight for it....but our leaders...all of them both sides are a shame and disgrace to our founding principles and fathers......too much govt that is totally ineffective....just pork barrel fat for those morons to stay rich!
JMO but I know i am right!!

Waynmon Steed impresses Diaz at Paradise Camp!!!

Manny Diaz finally got a chance to see Steed in action at the Paradise Camp yesterday. Manny told me after the camp that he was everything that I talked Steed up to be. He was very impressed with how fluid his hips were and his quickness. There was a mental drill phase during the individual period, where Manny asked the linebackers to shuffle to four corners of a square only going to the left and the second rep was only going to the right. Manny showed his frustration with many of the recruits during this phase as most were going in the wrong directions. Manny was very happy with Steed's reps as he went through them without a hitch. During the reaction and drops phase, Steed stood out with his fluidity flipping his hips and quickness reacting to the coaches direction. Even though I didn't see any highly ranked LB's at the camp, Steed still proved to be miles ahead of the group that was in attendance. This is not to say the other LB's weren't talented but You won't find many high school LB's with the skill set that Steed possesses. I asked Ray Lewis if he could watch him and tell me what he thought about my son during the individual period and after the period he said he liked the way Steed moved. During 1on1's he got beat on a will route but had excellent coverage, he just didn't swipe at the RB's hands soon enough to breakup the reception. Najeh Davenport and I, chopped it up before and after the camp and he too came away impressed with Steed, as Najeh was haggling him throughout the 1on1 phase. During 7on7's Steed had one bad rep where he broke on a out route and didn't stay in his zone, so the QB threw a pass in the zone where Steed should have been. All of his other reps were perfect and they didn't throw any other passes his way. I told Manny that I wanted Steed to trim down a little as he isn't the chiseled specimen that I want him to be but Manny said he wasn't worried about it because he knows Gus will get him where he needs to be. Steed also told me that he appreciated Shaq and Jermaine Grace giving him pointers throughout the camp!!!

As I stated in another thread, the coaches at UM killed the meetings. My son and I have been on a couple of unofficial visits at other universities and this one was by far more informative and the staff is selling the "family" brand very well. At one point in a meeting with just the parents and coaches, CMR started to get into some bible scriptures but you can tell he held back. I talked to DeeJay Dallas's parents afterwards and they feel exactly the way that I do about CMR and the staff. They love the family oriented staff and program. Navaughn, Cook, and Steed all rode with me and they all were pro U afterwards on the trip home. I am confident that the U still has a great shot at landing Cook if they have two good seasons that prove the new path. There is a FS that just transferred to Miami Central in the spring by the name of Chandler Jones. Keep an eye out for him as he had two picks during the 7on7 period and I came away very impressed with him. I believe he is a 2017 kid but I need to confirm. James Cook looked awesome in the reps I saw him take and from what everyone has been saying, Navaughn had a great day also. Miami Central will be a force this year and this group of kids proved it yesterday.

Other kids that impressed me yesterday were Al Blades Jr, Mike Hartley, Jerry Juedy, and Demetrius Ivey. Al Blades is the exact replica of Canes great Al Blades Sr. His attitude and tenacity was on full display during the 7on7's. The only thing I was missing was popcorn. He repeatedly got in the heads of the opposing receivers, QB's, Jon Richt, and he even garnered some praise from Brad Kaaya.

Bryan Jones 2017 4* DE as a Miami Recruit

Bryan Jones 2017 4* DE committed to Ole Miss in May (2016) but is taking an unofficial visit to Miami for Coach Richt's Paradise Camp this weekend.

Given Ole Miss's NCAA problems and Hugh Freeze being on a white hot seat along with the loss of 11+ scholarships over the next 4years, young Mr. Jones is on the Flip Watch clock as only a matter of time and finding the right school to flip to. Jones is a high motor kid that fits what Coach Kool likes in his D-Ends for them to be long & athletic 6'5" 240lbs.

The Work 7-17: PARADISE CAMP RECAP

**Where to start on this day? If you were following on CanesInSight all day, you would know that it was a recruiting event for the ages in Coral Gables. Aside from the fact that it was a spectacle to see all of the former ProCanes out on Greentree, I must say that I was impressed on how many top level prospects actually participated at the camp. Miami delivered on the hype of the event, and the competition was intense. It was a well-organized product that out a focus on head-to-head battles and 7-on-7 play. The significance of this weekend goes beyond just landing a few commitments. It was a weekend that showed Miami is in this game with the big boys now. The staff will now try to ride this momentum into the season and capitalize moving forward.

**Here's the scoop on Zalon'tae Hillery. The 2017 Glynn Academy (Georgia) offensive lineman He committed on Saturday in the middle of the day. His teammate, Deejay Dallas, told me that he had committed, but he was trying to keep it "silent" and not go public yet because he was committing without his mother with him and his coach was not necessarily on board yet either. Well, the word quickly got out and his commitment was not a secret. I had the chance to speak with Hillery about the whole incident and his commitment, and first of all I came away EXTREMELY impressed with this kid. He is an intelligent student-athlete who wants to study Architecture at Miami; definitely not an easy major.

Hillery is all-in on the Hurricanes. He said that although his mom isn't very happy with him right now, he knows that she will support his decision once she visits campus herself. During the camp, what I saw was a long, lean, athletic, 6-5, 267-pound tackle prospect with nice feet. You can tell he is raw and he said he has been playing football "on-and-off" since eighth grade. He got beat a few times in one-on-ones, but I came away more than impressed with his demeanor. He was legitimately upset with himself when he lost a rep. Mark Richt had to call him down a bit and get him focused because he was so emotionally-charged. His feet are impressive for his size. Love his upside and does not seem like his busy potential is high because he will put in the work.

**Although he didn't commit to the Hurricanes this weekend, getting Luther Burbank (Sacramento) DE D.J. Johnson on campus was so big for their chances. Miami was already leading prior to this and he had never been to Coral Gables before the last two days. The Canes have further extended that lead and it would be shocking to see him wind up elsewhere. He got the full-service treatment this weekend. Johnson had a lengthy talk with Michael Irvin after camp concluded.

**5-star OT Alex Leatherwood... GROWN MAN. That's the best analysis you will get on him. He was beat a couple of times in one-on-ones, but his fluidity and athletic ability was on display all night. He flashed freakish footwork at times and his burst is elite. Needs to become more efficient with his hands, but once he perfects his craft, I see no reason why he wouldn't be a future top 10 pick. I found it funny that Leatherwood said out loud that there was more talent at the Miami camp than there was at The Opening last week.

**To me, the two most impressive performances in one-on-one work would have to be guard Marquis Hayes out of Missouri, and Navaughn Donaldson of Miami Central. Hayes dominated the interior. He looks like an absolute wall out there and could become a MONSTER in the college weight room. Hayes has a mean steak to him. Hurricanes commitment Donaldson is just a specimen out there. He is the total package from a physical standpoint and it would be tough for me to point out a rep that he didn't win on Saturday night.

**Also at offensive line - OL commit Zach Dykstra out of Iowa was definitely adjusting to the speed of the game out there. Coach Searels was paying special attention to him and he was trying to stress the importance of "shooting the hands" to Dykstra. Has the looks of a big-time lineman. I had the chance to chat with Dykstra's father, Todd, who was excited to be on campus. He told me that not originally planning to make the trip, but he wanted to see how his son matched up with the talent out there. He also told me that something making his son's commitment easier on their family in Iowa is that they have family in West Palm Beach.

**Deerfield Beach WR Jerry Jeudy... I will say right now that he should be mentioned in the same breath as the likes of Amari Cooper and Dalvin Cook if Miami isn't able to reel him in. For starters, this kid deserves major props for participating in camp. He had nothing to prove out there, and I've seen a jump of prospects worse than him just sit out events like this, but he attacked the opposition out there. Jeudy creates separation about as easily as I've seen at this level. His feet are scary good and controls his body with ease in-and-out of breaks without losing speed. After one of his early reps schooling a defensive back, Mark Richt called him over to shake his hand.

**It was apparent that Miami's top QB recruit N'Kosi Perry was getting the VIP treatment in Coral Gables today, and he really seems like the real deal. Perry is slick with the ball. Although the pads aren't on, you can just see that he moves gracefully outside of the pocket and has a laser-quick release. The ball that he throws is extremely catchable.

**Family members of C.J. Henderson, Trajan Bandy, and Josh Jobe were all in attendance. A source who spoke to Bandy's father on Saturday said that he is really pushing for his son to stay in Miami. That's a good thing for the Hurricanes as they continue to try to sway Bandy from Oklahoma.

**Deejay Dallas played both corner and receiver on Saturday night. I still don't know what he projects best at because he looks good at both. His ball skills are really special, I must say. Not the tallest, but compactly built and doesn't waste movements.

**Devonta Smith and Mike Harley...both electric on Saturday night. Big-play after big-play from both of these guys. They were definitely showstoppers. This doesn't mean they will offer Harley, but this certainly raised those chances. Smith is fun to watch and really snatches the ball out of the air. I'm glad he participated. He's a glider.

**Huge weekend for the Canes at defensive back. First, they land Brian Edwards' commitment yesterday (which was a goal heading into the weekend). Then 2019 Royal Palm Beach safety Akeem Dent committed tonight. Dent will be a four-star recruit, easily. Not only did they land a couple of pledges, but they also solidified their lead with Amari Carter of Palm Beach Gardens. The Miami coaches sold his mother hard on the school and getting her on board was massive. The amount of talent out there at defensive back was astounding. Just what I would have expected at an event like this in south Florida.

**Todd Hartley was on Bradley Jennings, Jr. hard after the camp concluded. The FSU linebacker commitment continues to be a big priory for the staff. His younger brother was on the visit with him.

**2018 Southridge WR Mark Pope was one of the most impressive players all day. You notice his slight build at first, but his smooth route running ability blows you away along with his length and separation skills. Big performance for him. He continues to prove his worth as an elite guy in 2018. Must get for Miami along with Xavier Williams of Chaminade, who had an explosive day too.

**Miami did a great job locking up 2018 DBs D.J. Ivey (South Dade) and Gilbert Frierson (Coral Gables). These two locked it down on Saturday night and have formed a tight bond, which is cool to see. Ivey's mother and younger siblings got to check out the campus today and they fell in love with it, according to a source close to Ivey. Frierson is a savage who has 5-star potential.

**2019 DE Jeramy Passmore...only a matter of time before this pass rushing savant receives his Hurricanes offer. The Westminster Christian prospect was invited back to compete with the upperclassmen at 3 separate camps this summer. Miami coaches are all over him, they're just trying to figure out where he fits because they would like to see him grow another inch or two. He has time for that. Today was yet another nice performance by him. I come away impressed with his hands usage every time I see him work.

**Keep your eye on 2019 DB Jordan Presley. 6-3 and had a strong showing out there on Saturday night. Staff loves his upside and Presley has Miami right near the top of his list after this weekend. I spoke to his father, who told me that they had visited The likes of Michigan and Alabama earlier in the summer. Following the Alabama visit, Earl Presley (Jordan's father) told me that he didn't think anything could compare to that, but he said that after this weekend in Coral Gables, the Hurricanes firmly belong with those powerhouses, if not at the top of his list.

**Recent Miami OL commit Delone "D.J." Scaife from Killian was looking awesome at center. Really good athlete with country strength. Coaches loved him out there and that is a great get for the Canes. It's tough to find a high quality center like him these days.

**I mentioned Max Johnson (2020 QB, Brad Johnson's son, Richt's nephew) yesterday but he is worth noting again. I'd be pretty stunned if this kid was not a top-5 QB in his class. You are talking about a legit 6-2.5 with a pocket presence and genes. The lefty is set to be a FRESHMAN in high school and was more than capable of holding his own with the upperclassmen on Saturday.

CoCane

I think Saban will slide $100,000+ in the family mailbox to keep Juedy. He's that good. I really hope we can keep him home...

Shaq's dad:

My Impression

Upon arrival in Coral Gables we picked Shaq up from the dorm and met Up with Some other Cane Fans at the Titanic (shout Out to my new friend Will ) after a few beers we all walked over to Greentree . As soon as I got on the field I notice a difference in the atmosphere I'M not one to bash the previous staff but the tone and tempo was different... It went from I hope we do well... to l Know we are going to do well ... Then seeing all the Hurricane greats ... It was like my first trip to Disney World . It was surreal watching Ray Lewis and Jon Beason showing Grace , Shaq , Pinckney , Mcloud , Mike Smith all how to get off blocks and get downhill ... how to mug the back on his route ." that was worth the 5 hour trip ... As for the recruits it was like a kid in the candy store .., too many for me to see them all So I Picked a few to go and see First I watched N'Kosi ... he can stand to gain Some weight but other than that the kid was impressive and noticed that he mustered a lot of attention from Richt Jr who also Impressed me ... then went to see Juedy who until yesterday I wasn't really that high on have to get with Pete to see who was the WR wearing the #6 jersey he was extremely impressive ... Steed Was by far the best LB ... not saying this cause Steed Sr is here ... as a matter Of fact when I came up after watching the other positions Shaq and my other boys were alredy watching the LBs and One of my Sons said that 59 was the best backer not even Knowing who he was ... Shout out to Steed Sr good seeing you again ... there was a bunch of good looking DBs Amari Carter and Ivey was getting alot of coaching from Diaz and they looked good in the one on ones but who Impressed me the most was AL Blades ... the one on ones intensified when he thought it was time and he lead the other DBs to follow suit . Apples don't fall far from the tree ... Bennie Blades told me that Al told him that he was going to break all of Bennie's records at UM... Bennie told him that he will be the first to congratulate him ... didn't get a chance to see the big boys ..but like what I saw in Pete's post ... Over all it was a great day ... don't want to be premature and say "We Back" but damnit ... "we Back"

He can deport all he wants. But it's irrefutable during his tenure he's allowed this country to become a nation devoid of borders.

That has been a major fail, has backfired on him and his party and help fuel the pro Trump movement that threatens to derail his preordained successor.

IF and when that clown Trump becomes President, his first thank you shouldn't be to the people who voted for him, but the perpetually bothered and offended political correctness police who helped create the vast majority of followers who punched his name on the ballot.

While I may not agree with many policies, to call out both parties as evil or Nazis goes into the category of extremism.

Strongly disagreeing is one thing, spewing hate is something else.

Perhaps I should phrase it like this for you...BOTH parties are at extremes....far right and far left.....nobody wants to be in the middle because they say you have no beliefs....or at least fools like Limbaugh do. Well if you cannot put aside your extreme views which both parties have.....then you get nothing done. Both parties are to blame, and our leader is a weak man who back peddles and has no real idea of the world is like....nothing against him as a person.

Lurker I was not hating rather trying to juxtapose the parties.....should have done it better....analogy was meant like WWII....Red Soviets and Nazi Germany....both extreme ideology that did nothing good, hurt the citizens greatly and then both imploded. Soviets lasted longer as their war for wealth power and land was done a little more subtle psychologically if you will.....

We have to get a working govt again, where people pull together to help ALL people not harm them of leave them in economic chaos....these people DO NOT LEAD!

I am not enamored with either candidate...both have shown poor lack of judgment and have lied....but HC, despite her faults, has an idea of how dangerous and complicated the world is. While faults can be pointed out....hell shes has been there and does know more. DT has no clue; he is a poor businessman, and the world dont work by the are of the deal. his ideas...while appealing to many....are really out there. His ideas on the economy...buy back debt at a discount, pay off all the debt in 8 years and other ideas would really make a mess. He is a sourpuss, and for a man of wealth, he is crude coarse and vulgar...he cannot speak with any dignity. Besides that ugly face and hair would be the worst looking Prez ever! He is an ugly sourpuss man! dont think he can lead!

I am saying its sad we have a system with so few qualified candidates....if there are some great ones they steer clear of govt.....and it is not the system thats bad.....its the people in it who do not care to lead America to be great....(us little folks make it great).....they just want the biggest cut of the pie they can get....on our backs.

I have a football system that has worked for 36 years...I have added to it, dropped things, expanded things and it works...we are always right there as contenders...every year....but it would never win a game without the most important aspect: my people! My coaches, players, parents and families, friends, cheerleaders, volunteers....they have made me look good....but i would surely have failed without them every time! Its people that make anything work.... good honest hardworking dedicated people who care for the whole of the realm, not their gain.

Thats why this place is so great...like Harry said.....all of you folks and of course the Commander of Canes the Soupster!!!!

I think the world of each of you and love you as family...YOU make this work!!

Always,
VAC

CMR deserves a lot of credit by putting together the greatest football camp ever. There was enough talent at this paradise camp to build back-to-back-to-back national title runs. I dare to say that in 5-7 years, many of the recruits there will be playing on Sundays.

If the Canes can at least get ten wins and the ACC championship game this season (and I believe they will), I look for a monster 2017 recruiting class. With these coaches and that talent, you have to expect that CMR will win a lot of games at Miami and exceed what he achieved at Georgia, which says a lot. Alabama and FSU will not be able to cherry pick good recruits from our own backyard any more.
