Twelve years of mediocrity.
A defense with more holes than Swiss cheese.
An offense that could not convert third downs or in the red zone.
Special teams that were anything but special.
Weather delays at home games that seemed to go on forever.
Miami Hurricanes fans have had to endure quite a bit of turmoil, loss, disappointment and uncertainty over the last decade. Then once again, in the middle of last season, it became evident that it was clearly time for a change.
That change started with hiring of new UM football head coach Mark Richt.
Richt brings with him his own version of a "hope and change" agenda to the University of Miami to start the 2016 college football season. That agenda contains items such as a more efficient offense, a more aggressive defense and a new look stadium now known as Hard Rock Stadium.
Now it is our turn as Miami Hurricanes fans to show up and show our pride and confidence in the new head coach, the newly renovated stadium and a new team to cheer for in 2016.
We will see you at the game this Saturday at "The Rock" and at every other opportunity we get along the way during this 2016 college football season.
And to be perfectly honest, WE CAN'T WAIT!

Anybody notice that none of the 4 arrested NDU players (the 5th guy was caught with a gun and dismissed, but I believe they were all together) were suspended for even one game (coincidentally, game 1 is vs U Texas). I wonder if Willis at UM has an opinion on this one, let alone Grace or AQM?

In other news
The USF Bulls reportedly are among six to eight schools still in consideration for two Big 12 expansion spots,
USF made the cut with UCF, Connecticut, Cincinnati, Houston and Memphis. A couple of other American Athletic Conference schools and BYU also remain in the mix

Interesting...who's the favorite?
Posted by: Lur-ker | August 31, 2016 at 03:13 PM
My uninformed take:
For geographic reach to somehow incorporate WVU, It would be Cincy and Memphis.
For ad sales USF, UCF or Connecticut

Makes sense.
For purely selfish reasons, I'd rather nether USF or UCF get it. Why? Being in a P5 gives them a more compelling recruiting message. It makes them more of the recruiting threat than they were before. By how much, I can't say. At that point though, we'd also be competing against 3 P5's in our own state rather than 2, like we do now.

Houston, BYU, and Cincy would be my top three. BYU's religious restrictions might nullify their bid. Houston should be a shoe-in, but for the same reason Lurker eluded to the other Texas schools may want to blackball them in order to keep the blue chip kids from going there.
Posted by: Sarasota 'cane | August 31, 2016 at 05:18 PM
Of course they're not violations, Lurker. However, I'm assuming Willis was suspended for something far less, although we don't need to know, and my biggest issue is always with NDU's holier than thou attitude (ie Catholics vs. Convicts). Everyone just wants to win, and that's what coaches get paid to do.

Stadium looks nice....but I hate those Dolphin colors....too pretty for me....love the facelift though!
Barry bond hitting instructor......just juice it baby. I would like to take a rip cut with a bat to that big melon head...see if it would burst. I hate the guy....he is not the HR king at alll....thats Mr. Aaron.....who is weak as water for not saying things when he could have done it. Screw Bonds.

I agree. NCAA is a joke, but they also have the power to F us up on what most people would consider bullsh*t, so we have to operate in THAT world, because, right now, there's no alternative.

This shits a done deal. Texas wants Houston and OU wants Cincinnati. And that's that! What those two want, those two get as they run the conference because without them, there wouldn't be a conference left. BYU had a shot the last time around as well as this time but the fact that they won't play on Sunday's really hurts there chances as it would be a hard on scheduling for other non football sports.

I hope we beat FAMU so bad that they take us off the schedule
Posted by: SinisterCane | August 31, 2016 at 08:53 PM
If I was running the Big 12 I would consider FAU. It would give the other Big 12 schools constant access to the Miami area.

Wow. You're coming on strong there. Did you not get your milk and cookies tonight?
Also that was Urban flapping his lips about Cincy, which I would not take seriously since he has no say.
The Texas push for Houston does actually involve some heavy hitters, not just a coach, but a lot of people are thinking it's just gamesmanship by Texas, since the heavy hitters don't have a voting member.

In November 2014, the nation’s highest profile college football analyst told the Miami Herald that then-freshman quarterback Brad Kaaya would become “one of the faces of the sport” and lead the Hurricanes back to prominence as early as 2015.
He got the first part right.
ESPN/ABC commentator Kirk Herbstreit spoke to the Herald again Tuesday, praising the hiring of coach Mark Richt, lauding the administration for its decision to dismiss two UM star defensive players and saying he “absolutely loves” the idea that three freshmen will start at linebacker.
But despite recently picking Miami as an Atlantic Coast Conference “sleeper to be a thorn in the side to some of the more recognizable teams that people expect to compete for the ACC,” this time Herbstreit tempered his forecast for the UM season that starts Saturday against FAMU.
“I don’t think there are a lot of people that have high expectations for Mark Richt and Miami on a national level going into his first year,” Herbstreit said. “It really doesn’t have anything to do with Mark Richt. It has to do with this program for I don’t know how many years being basically a 7-6, 8-5 type of team. So, the expectation for them is 7-6 — that’s who Miami is.
“My thought is because of the respect I have for Mark Richt and for Brad Kaaya, this is a team that maybe could do a little better than that. I could see this team getting up to eight, maybe nine wins.”
