Didn't know you have a great record with college QB's... maybe you can help Brad out?

Posted by: WWIN | September 19, 2016 at 06:27 AM

I tried but he won't listen to me.

He just told me to shhhhhh...

CoCane

Me too. Also, guys with minor injuries will get healthy during the bye and be ready to ball.

UMike

Co... they certainly looked a lot better vs Vandy then in their opener against BC from the bits and pieces I have seen.

I do like that CMR is very familiar with them and the speed at the LB & DE spots will help. Im just so dam happy to see us playing with speed again on defense.

CoCane

I know we won't blow everyone out. I hope Ga Tech won't be one of those games we struggle and have to pull out a close one.

I have paid attention to them and they have gotten better each week so far.

I think we'll be ready with the extra time to prepare. Plus, Richt is very familiar with them. So are our players.

I think we roll...

The "U" 49 - Ga Tech 13

Dude on a Pale Horse

Its always an asset Mike. We just have to do it right.

UMike

Lurker, I honestly dont know. I think its great for the dive play, not sure about the outside stuff. We have shown great sideline to sideline speed so far though. I think JJ makes more than a few plays in this game. Just you always hear how you need to play "assignment football" against this option. I wonder if Diaz makes any adjustments or just lets our guys do their thing.

Asset! App State was a good warm up game for the GT option.

Is our attacking/fast/downhill style of defense a liability against the triple option, or an asset?

I actually hope UW whoops stanfords butt. It's time for the originals to rise to the top of there conferences. Like Miami and UW. When those two programs are dominate, it's good for cfb.

That was kind of a dick move for that guy to tweet the look out before the unveiling. Killed whatever little suspense and anticipation there was. Everybody knows what they look like now.

If I were Adidas or the athletic department, I wouldn't be happy about it, but someone's to blame for that leak, and it had to come from either Adidas or the athletic dept.

At the University of Miami, what’s old is new again — at least as far as the football team’s uniforms go.

The Hurricanes are expected to harken back to the days of the Orange Bowl when they unveil new uniforms Monday evening at a launch party at the Rathskeller on campus.

The uniforms are reportedly modeled after ones Miami wore back in the 1980s — like the ones current coach Mark Richt wore when he was a UM quarterback in the early part of that decade — a simple look Adidas gave a modernized style to with the Hurricanes’ current uniforms unveiled just last season.

Brody Logan, a reporter at the Fox affiliate in Washington, D.C., tweeted out leaks of the replica jerseys Miami and Adidas plan to offer on Saturday night.

Ive been told these are the new jerseys the Miami Hurricanes will be unveiling this week. Taking it back to the 80s pic.twitter.com/wCyPhmejfp
Brody Logan (@BrodyLogan) September 18, 2016

Miami wore the same style of uniform for four of its national championship seasons from 1983-91.

Miami’s simplistic look lasted through the 1990s when Nike began tinkering with it.

In 2000, Nike gave the Hurricanes a drastic redesign with a new font, logo, stripes and more green in the color scheme.

Adidas attempted a stylized-version last season and has been leaving hints at Miami’s new look over the past few weeks, with tweets referencing Miami’s past.

One tweet simply shows famous numbers — Ray Lewis, Bernie Kosar, Melvin Bratton, Vinny Testaverde, Michael Irvin — from the past on a green background with an orange stripe.

First look at the jackets for me this season.

In case you missed it: Louisville is really, really good. The No. 10 Cardinals' 43-point win over No. 2 Florida State on Saturday eliminated any doubt about that, so Louisville is the new No. 1 in our ACC Power Rankings. As for the rest of the ACC ...

1. Louisville: Lamar Jackson is the real deal, as Florida State found out early and often. Fortunately for fans of college football, the nation will get to see Jackson duel with Deshaun Watson and Greg Ward later this season.

2. Clemson: Speaking of Watson, his Tigers finally looked the part in a 59-0 win over South Carolina State. That offensive rhythm will be important as they get ready for consecutive games at Georgia Tech and against Louisville.

3. Miami: If it weren’t for Jackson’s theatrics, the Hurricanes might have been the talk of the ACC this weekend after making quick work of a hungry Appalachian State team in a hostile environment. The Hurricanes get a bye this week before beginning a brutal six-game stretch that starts with a trip to Georgia Tech and ends with a game against Pitt.

T4. North Carolina: Mitch Trubisky looked really, really sharp once again, overcoming a wild first quarter and running away from James Madison 56-28. Fellow Coastal contender Pitt awaits next week.

T4. Florida State: If you’re FSU, you look at the standings and remind yourself that Saturday’s blowout still only counts for one in the loss column. With the way next week’s opponent, South Florida, has been scoring lately, the Seminoles don’t have time to feel sorry for themselves.

6. Georgia Tech: The Yellow Jackets were dominant in their 38-7 win over Vanderbilt, doing what they do offensively but also locking the Commodores up defensively. Thursday’s tilt with Clemson could get interesting.

People are so fickle when it comes to team jerseys. I personally think there's nothing wrong with the current ones, even with the "wings", but I don't mind the change either.

Ranking is higher than I expected, but I'll take it. The lower that number is next to our name on TV, the better it is for recruiting purposes.

Great plan for a bye before GT, and also using it to make these 2 announcements to keep us in the media and tv before we get to curb stomp Paul Johnson and his HS offense.

Standford is much like Mich St. They're just 2 disciplined football teams who consistently wins. Yes, they have less talent than most major programs but they are very well coached and they get their players to play inspired football.

Okay, we drubbed 3 bums, let's not get ahead of ourselves. I love that we are 3-0 and we finally have some dam coaching but we haven't beaten nothing but stiffs so far. " This was significant. Yes, Miami should beat Appalachian State. But a trip to Boone, North Carolina, for the biggest home game in Appalachian State history had danger written all over it. Instead, Miami recorded its most lopsided road win since 2003. Brad Kaaya and Mark Walton lit up the scoreboard and, more significantly, Miami's young defense held Appalachian State to 10 points. Matter of fact, it was INEPT coaching which prevented Miami, Florida from defeating mighty FSU the last two games. NO IFS, BUTS or duh!!

As for the Bumbling, fumbling Bumble Bee's. Manny Diaz and the defensive assistants have TWO WEEKS to prep for Johnson's offense. Miami, Florida will also get AC back, and some other defensive players! duh

In 2015, FSU chose to recruit DeAndre Francois, the #1 dual threat QB and #39 prospect overall by Rivals, originally from Orlando (I recall he played youth football for the Orlando Outlaws), but eventually played at IMG Academy. Louisville recruits Lamar Jackson , the #17 dual threat QB, with no national ratings by Rivals out of Boynton Beach.

ARIZ:

Despite bye, this is a huge week for Canes football
**The Miami Hurricanes will not play a game in week four, but this is a monumental week for the football program. The Canes have had a successful first three weeks on the field – taking care of business against an FCS school and two non-P5 programs. Miami will make two announcements this week that are both expected to make waves in the national headlines and will keep Miami front and center in the eyes of recruits, even on their bye week.

Tomorrow, the school will unveil the “new” Adidas uniform design, which is heavily influenced by the look worn by the Canes of the 80s and 90s. The unis were leaked on Twitter last night and I can confirm that this is what they will look like. Keep in mind that the sleeves will be tighter for the version worn by players.

**The bigger news for Miami’s football program will be Friday afternoon announcement of an indoor practice facility, which has been in the final stages of planning for a couple of months now. This announcement will is being labeled as “by invitation only” and is being held at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach. It is scheduled to begin at 5:00PM and school president Julio Frenk will be in attendance along with athletic director Blake James.

Canes coaches have been showing the facility layout plans to recruits since the spring. Sources have told CanesInSight.com that Miami is aiming to have construction completed by the start of the 2018 season. It works out nicely that the 2018 recruiting class of prospects is one of the most talent-laden groups in recent memory.
Real estate developer Jeffrey Soffer and his family will be the lead donor for the project. Donor details here:

South Florida billionaire Jeffrey Soffer and family expected to help finance UM's indoor football practice facility | Miami Herald

**A few team things…

Brad Kaaya’s knee is fine. There is no structural damage and if there was a game this week, he would play with little to no hindrance. Team orthopedic surgeon Dr. Lee Kaplan and head athletic trainer Vinny Scavo were taking a close look at Kaaya on the sidelines yesterday as he took a hit while chasing the return on the interception that he threw.

Adrian Colbert, who is coming off a meniscus tear and minor knee procedure, would be ready to play this week if there was a game. He will be important in the next game against Georgia Tech where the cornerbacks will need to get active in the run game. His history as a safety lends to him being effective against the run.

Notable stats
**Miami is converting on 51.5% of their 3rd downs this season, which ranks 17th nationally. The Canes finished 95th in the country in the same category last season (35.47%)

**Miami’s defense has allowed only 217 yards per game, which ranks 3rd nationally.

**The pass defense has allowed 152.3 yards per game, which ranks 14th nationally.

**The run defense has allowed 65 YPG, which ranks 7th nationally.

**The defense has allowed 7.7 points per game, which ranks 2nd nationally.

**The Canes are tied for 5th in sacks with 13. They had 26 sacks all of last season.

**Mark Walton has the 7th-most rushing yards in the country with 401.

This stat here from Pro Football Focus gives you another look at Ahmmon Richards’ 4-catch, 142-yard freshman receiving record at Miami.
