One of our bloggers had the intelligence to write this about STARS and talent:
"Your analysis (that stars don't matter) is certainly valid for single games when arguably against specific competition, any team can beat any other team in the same conference. Indeed, the outcome of individual games can turn on a multitude of different factors. That's why underdogs do sometimes win.
Moreover, your position (that stars don't really matter) may also be valid for a single season, when, sometimes, a team comprised of lower ranked recruits somehow prevails over a team comprised of more highly prized recruits.
However, when you examine a long term trend, such as GT's losing streak vs. UM or UM's losing streak vs. FSU, the most likely explanation is a material difference in talent. STARS MATTER.
Likewise, the most plausible explanation for the recurring successes of top programs like Alabama and Ohio State is recruiting successes on successive NSDs. STARS MATTER.
So, too, there is a good reason why some teams, like Vanderbilt and Wake Forrest, will never win their respective conferences. STARS MATTER.
You've been on a "Stars don't matter" bandwagon for many years now. But the facts belie your position." STARS MATTER
Sort of off topic:
Bob Dylan wins Nobel Prize in Literature.
Congratulations to one of the greatest songwriters of all time!
One of his greatest works, incidentally, is his song "Hurricane". Just as relevant in 2016 as it was back in 1975. Makes me sad. Or angry.

Miami, Florida - 7 1/2 OUCH
Well, it seems the early action dropped the spread by one point. huh Maybe the Wise Guys have been reading Canespace, and agree Miami DOESN'T have a superstar signal caller and what not. Nevertheless, I SEE-r the current point spread dropping another point by Saturday. Even though the Wise Guys know Carolina Blue is terrible on defense. The Suits have been reading up on Miami and their shaky flaky QB. OUCH!!!!!

Mack, I still can't bring myself to bet on the Canes game. I did add Houston at -21 today, though.

I think that the point spread is too low, and that UNC wins by 17. That's probably the last five years affecting my thinking, but I am very concerned by all of the injuries and The absolute lack of depth.
UNC 34 UM 17

TURNCOAT!!!!!!!!!!!!
However, you do have a couple of valid points and what not. And this is basically the SAME Carolina Blue team which molest Miami last season. They just have a different starter at QB.

they also do NOT have Eric Ebron, who KILLED us last yr. Our D is light yrs BETTER than last yrs and I really don't think the kids are going to lose this game. PAYBACK TIME!!!

CMR realizes Kaaya is not a King but just a caretaker for the throne. Pass attempts 15 35 runs to protect Kaaya

What? Kaaya was 19 of 32.

My bad Ebron was in 2014.

Run it down their throats, counter blitzes with screens and draws, and with an occasional shot down field to Coley, Richards, and lets get an BEAST TE's in the game, and we should handle UNC!

Sorry I guess I'm just pessimistic after having watched the Miami versus FSU game for the first time in completion this morning. Loved the game and it was a great effort by our team. What has me worried is the number of injuries that took place as a result of that game. Two years ago we went into the tank as a result of a large number of injuries and a complete lack of depth on the team and I'm concerned the same thing might take place now. I just need to be convinced that Golden Ways are behind us, especially as we face a team that beat us by 30 last year.

Soup, not sure if this was said before or not. In regards to the Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John blog post, the John is obviously Jimmy "John"son.
