Supported all three to the bitter end.

All three are now currently dead to me.

It really was awesome to watch. It may be the very first time I've ever felt like I was back in the Orange Bowl.

Coker: after LSU, it was over.
Shannon: I was deeply concerned after year 1, but ultimately it was probably his last year, at Virginia or the USF loss.
AG: the loss to Louisville in the bowl game I was done. Lots of warning signs prior though.
Richt: if we dont beat UNC I will start to be concerned.

For real. Made me so proud.

Here's a question for you guys that I can't even answer and I played the game in college albeit on the defensive side of the ball. But I can't understand why our line isn't better then it is? For example we got blue chip 4 star kids littering our line and yet aren't dominating. McDermott 4* blue chip everyone wanted, St. Louis 4* blue chip everyone wanted, darling 4* blue chip everyone wanted. The only three stars are isadora and Linder and both of them are our best lineman so go figure that?! I mean you can't recruit much better then that aside from a five star thrown in there. 3 four stars and 2 three stars that are playing like four stars should be a recipe for a damn good Oline. Thoughts anybody?

canezilla

All I know is the offense better start rolling... Fiu is ranked higher than us

CaneRock

NicKane...IDK what it is with the OLine. Seems to me that some of these pass concepts take too long to develop. At the College level, an OLine should rarely be asked to block for more than 3 seconds (7 step game). Heck, I don't recall Dorsey taking more than 5 step drops. Or it could be our WRs aren't getting open fast enough...IDK.

Miami, Florida - 8 1/2

Which leaves Red state Ohio in a gambling dilemma. Because Carolina Blue doesn't have a very good defense to speak, and Miami DOESN'T have a superstar QB. huh.

It's all about the development and what not. And both the LG and C are still " ten or fifteen pounds " to heavy.

Oh, and one more thing. Sometimes that prep school " Star " thing is over-hyped. For example, take into consideration Stanford's star running back. The dude wasn't either a FIVE/FOUR-star running back coming out of HS. Go figure.

raizecane

I hope our offense does its best Samsung galaxy Note 7 imitation and catch fire during the NC matchup this weekend.

TruCane81

Every time I see him under center, I'd stack the box and if he is in the shot gun, I'd blitz the hell out of him. Those bubble screens we love to throw aren't going to cause much damage, to the other team.

Posted by: herbieibis | October 11, 2016 at 12:44 PM

I've noticed this too. I think its a combination of year one in a new offense and coach trying to find his rhythm as a play caller in tough situations.

The players are still washing off the golden rain. They never had alot of confidence in or under the old regime. This coming slate of games is important. We need to win some big games to give the guys real confidence. Wins o er the next two weeks will completely change the self image of the program.

I think we spank UNC. The real test will be Thursday in Blacksburg.

I know I am hard on CMR, but championship football his hard. I hope that he can take the next step in his own development and show us something new.

I was actually responding to this, not the herbs post. Didn't proof read.

Mack, I'm stashing my money won from 2 weeks ago and waiting for the ND game to bet again on our Canes. Too many unknowns with our offense right now with Kaaya, Coley, Richt, etc.

Ohio_Cane

Mack, I do have a few other bets happening this week

App state tonight at -10.5
Duke at +33.5
GT at -8
Steelers at -7.5
Titans at -6

UMike

I could be wrong (most likely) but its seems we have ran the same 5 plays all year. We arent taking advantage of our TE's like we should.

IMO we need to go up tempo often and get ball out quickly and let Coley, Berrios, Richards, TE's, Walton etc make plays. Slow down he game only if needed.

I agree but the damn recievers need to stop lining up off sides/false starts. And I'm talking to you Stacy coley! We had fsu on there heals everytime we went tempo untill we'd have a false start penalty! The one that was the back breaker was when we got the ball inside the ten, going tempo, fsu confused and then Stacy false starts. Two plays later we through a pic when we should have been going up 20 to 3. Back breaker right there.

Still washing off the Golden rain....that makes me chuckle!

Coach Richt doesn't want to always rely on a PRIMARY receiver. He prefers to spread the ball out, and go to the best available option. Of course, he goes to his most experienced receiver in CRUNCH TIME. Enter Stacy. duh

Yep. They have been running this offense all spring and summer. I am surprised we have seen so few sets. I would like to see more variation
in the I (big, 3wr), and ace set (we run ALOT of twin recievers from this, but not much more.

And please lets stop taking Kaaya out of the pocket away from his protection! He gets his bell rung when we does this because of his slow feet.

I would like to see Rosier sometime. I thought he was good against Duke. But he wasn't even able to take firm command of the back up, let alone challenge Brad for the starting position.

O-line does have some talent but they have no one behind them to push them. That' about all we have is 3 four star guys and the rest are 3's. Not much behind the starters.

Yeah Malik did look good in the Duke game... I think all the talk about him not being able to take hold of the backup job was all coach talk. Based on what was said he was basically going to be the 3rd-4th string QB then BOOM like magic he all of a sudden took the lead by a large margin for the backup spot the week leading up to the season!

TruCane81

Gotta keep em hungry, lol.

As per BARRY JACKSON: "Jaquan Johnson also could play more: “We could use a few more Jaquan Johnson’s, because he can help us in so many ways,” Diaz said. “When we are in the media room we think about how great it would be to play him here or there. We don’t have enough Jaquan’s to go around for all the places he could help the football team. Certainly he will play a big role this weekend, but we have felt since the spring that he was one of our top guys.”

As I have stated here before, I love the way JJ plays the game of football. I saw him play in high school, and he was a special player and leader on defense. He makes a good defense a lot better. JJ just knows the game, and he just makes plays. He reminds me of Brian Dawkins

• Despite losing to FSU, receiver Braxton Berrios points out: “We are right in the driver seat of the Coastal if we beat North Carolina. If not then we have a long road ahead of us and it will be other team’s jobs to lose it really. If we beat North Carolina then we are in the driver seat and as long as we do not lose we will be in the ACC Championship game.”

Evolutionary Matt Walters in a season and a half.

Willie, the problem isn't the offense or the plays sent in, it's the slow ass, can't read a defense pre-snap, can't buy even a fraction of a moment more time in the pocket by stepping up to throw, can't stop lock down staring a pick into the red or end-zone to take points out the back pocket and leave them on the fied gold-hen girl loser against the primary rival for life dude.

Now the injuries are mounting and it'll be lack of depth on top of that compounding the deficiencies at the most important position on the field as the season circles the plumbing on its way flushing down the pipes yet again. If you stay tuned through the pyrite rain of error you've seen plenty of this before and it's not scheduled to stop this year.

SinisterCane

Offense - If we beat North Carolina.

Defense - North Carolina gonna pay

Manny should teach some of that unwavering violence to CMR

Lots of UM football nuggets on a Wednesday:

• UM’s offense entered the FSU game second in the country in points per game (47) before stumbling in the 20-19 loss against the Seminoles.

And that apparently continued into practice this week, Mark Richt said.

After Tuesday’s poor practice, Richt said: “I told the offense, ‘Here’s the script. We’re going to run these plays, and we’re going to run them right. If you don’t, we’ll run them again. If we don’t get them done in time, we’ll run them after practice or early tomorrow. If we have to go to school, we’ll do it at a time when there’s no responsibilities.’

“I just said that everybody in America has to make a decision about whether you’re going to get better or get worse today, whether you survive the day or you thrive today – what’s it going to be? You choose. This game is about players. Coaching matters, but they’re the ones who got to do it, got to want it, got to care enough…I’m trying to make them understand that.”

So was the offense better Wednesday?

“It took a little extra time for the offense to get it right after practice, but better than yesterday, so that’s a good sign,” Richt said. “We just have to make sure we get every assignment right, every technique right, all the effort right on every snap.”

• Richt, on the team’s injury situation: “We got issues there. We cut down a little bit of the team time against each other, the higher tempo. If you’re going to have a guy injured in practice – which you shouldn’t, even in that format, because we do everything ‘thud’ and everyone stays up – there’s a greater chance of something happening in that drill than against the scouts. Yesterday, we cut down eight plays, which is a decent amount, then today, we only cut out four plays. Because we had to work on our third downs and our red zone stuff.”

Gerald Willis (knee) is out Saturday, Richt said.

• Privately, UM didn’t view dismissed Sam Bruce as a huge loss. He’s undersized at 5-8 and didn’t know the playbook well enough, according to a teammate. He was bounced from the team for violations including showing up late to rehab sessions.

Initially, he lied to UM about his leg injury, telling coaches it was sustained on a bike, and not playing basketball. That was foolish to lie, because Richt told me that playing basketball doesn’t violate any of his rules.

“He was not totally forthcoming about how it happened," Bruce’s mother, Tracye Wilkerson, told Canesport’s Matt Shodell. "He was afraid because he knew he was supposed to not do anything outside of football."

Wilkerson told Shodell that what ultimately got Bruce bounced was being late for his own rehab.

"He was warned and was late to therapy," Wilkerson said. "That was it.”

Wilkerson told Shodell: "I found the infractions to be minor, but I'm his mother so I'm going to look at it like that. But this is Sam's shortcomings, coming into the program he knew he had to be careful. It got to the point where it was more than coach Richt and his staff wanted to deal with.

"I love coach Richt, what he's doing for the program, the direction he has it going. I wish them the best in the endeavors to come. Sam just made a series of not good decisions that put him in this situation.”

What HS is JJ from again?

Credit to Sam's mother. Good perspective there.

I do wish Bruce got one more chance. Sounds like there were some immaturity issues there. He has so much talent though.

Time to show some sack for the Canes!
Humiliated last year by UNC.
They're very good. ..but, this saturday afternoon will tell us what we need to know. ..
No excuses. ...this one is on the D....we win based on MD'S aggression.

Do not let FSU beat us twice.

God bless you and Go Canes! ! !

Go,GoCanes!

Do not let FSU beat us twice.

--------------

Yep!

The Dude

I would have loved to beat FSU, and they were ripe for picking, but UNC is now critical. UNC is a must win to achieve our goals and to get our swagger back. When someone beats us, someone has to pay.

UMike

It could be argued, UNC AND VT are both must wins for use to win Coastal.

UMike

Also, we need to start debuting new uniforms against cupcakes. IDK our record when debuting new Unis, but it sure isnt good.
